Good friendly service. Lovely pub and the food was nice. Ideal if you want a nice pub lunch. Fish and chips, burgers etc and a lovely steak pie. Only a small eating area so probably best to book first. Few car park spaces outside the pub and round the green.

After a wee day out around east Lothian, we decided to try out the restaurant. Greeted by 2 friendly staff, mentioned having lunch and was offered to be seated in the bar, opposite restaurant or outside. From the outside I didn't think it was so big. Ordered our dishes, minutes after were told they'd sold out of one dish. Had... More

Lunch with family, two children. Lovely location, pub is pretty and fits the area. Lots of parking which was nice. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Menu had a wide choice of food and staff were helpful pointing out children options and items not on menu. Tables are well laid out, chairs comfortable. The food was a mixed bag. Fish... More

My wife and I and a couple of other family members were attending a wedding at the wonderful Archerfield House when we stayed at the Castle Inn recently. The rooms were a really good size with comfy beds. We ate in the restaurant on the Friday night and I have to say the food was excellent. The Castle only has... More

I think this is the first time I've ever written a review and I had to sign up the tripadvisor and download the app to do so as I was so compelled to report how bad my stay was. Myself, my wife and 2 friends were staying after a wedding in Gilmerton house. We were quite late back and were... More

We visited the Castle Inn after we'd visited the ruined Dirleton Castle and we weren't disappointed. The staff are very friendly and chatty and the food's great. There's a nice cosy feel to the place as it's not too big (at first glance) but there is a bigger space at the back and they're dog friendly though you have to... More

I've driven past the end of the road to Dirleton countless times over the years, but never been there. It took two hungry ten year olds (son and friend) to change that, and I'm so glad I visited. The village itself is beautiful, with a historic castle, stunning church and - unusually for Scotland - a village green. The Castle... More

Stayed here many times in the past and recently stayed following its refurbishment. It was as good as always. Bar and staff are really friendly and welcoming. The inn stands on the village green opposite Dirleton Castle. It only has a few rooms that are traditional and cosy with soft beds. Room 4 has a double Jacuzzi bath. Restaurant is... More

£7.40 sitting in the bar for a small portion of over-creamed and tasteless chowder is in my mind excessive. You can have soup anywhere in East Lothian for under £5 served with a bread roll. The barman assured us that this was indeed the price. It is impossible to contact the Castle via their website. My friend and I are... More

Visited here on a recent Saturday evening. No table booked and restaurant was busy but said to come back in half an hour. Returned then and shown to table immediately. Good range of meals on menu and service was attentive and prompt. Meals were delivered promptly as well, despite the restaurant being busy. Food was good and well prepared. Deserts... More
