Went for an evening meal, poor menu, bottle of wine just put on the table, not even opened far less poured. Food was average at best. Waiters over familiar too chatty. No atmosphere in the dining room.

Hi Gordon Thank you for your review and I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your meal with us and I will speak to the staff working and ask why the wine wasn't opened for you which is most unusual and I hope it was a screw top rather than a cork. I apologise also if the staff were too friendly but perhaps they were trying to create the missing atmosphere.

We travelled up to see friends in the area and stayed at the castle for a single night. Very good room and we had a relaxed evening meal followed by a quality Scottish breakfast. Very nice attentive staff👍

Arriving at night the castle looked impressive. The decor and furniture are completely in keeping with the look that the hotel is trying to achieve which is not modern but definitely from an older age. The room was big and the bed very big and comfortable. We had a bathroom

hi - just wondered if hotel was child friendly?
I saw a couple of children when I stayed. They looked happy and content at breakfast and dinner. Lots of stairs to climb up to bedrooms but apart from that I would be happy to take my 3 year old grandson to stay there. Hope that helps.

Hi there, I will be fair minded here as I am from the area in question. I think a lot of the service and attention depends on your own previous experience. When i was at the hotel last year, I was on a driving tour of Europe, so Menstrie was one hotel our of 22 nights and 9 countries. In fairness it wasn´t too bad but it wasn´t good. Service was lousy. They may not agree but for the price in many other locations, I had a wonder experience. For example, the following evening, I stayed in the borders near Berwick, booked at 9pm at night, we, had a great night, breatfast that we picked out ourselves and it was 50 quid all in and I´d go back in a heart beat. Broomhall is a lovelly buidling in a great setting, it just needs some investment, design, and service culture put inside it.
