We stayed here just the one night, we wish it had been for longer. Why? Here are our reasons: Location - a fantastic location where the road sweeps down from Crask Inn towards the coastline. The scenery around here is breath taking. The hotel sits in the midst of it all. Facilities - The LEJoG cabin was just what we... More

Our bus tour stopped here for tea - we wanted to stay here. Several quaint living/sitting rooms/dining rooms were so inviting. They were ready for our gang - tea or coffee, scones, delicious jams and such. The place has a cozy, homey feel to it. Friendly service with a personal touch adds to the charm of the place. The beautiful... More

Spent one night here on business, the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The hotel is very Old Worldly but quaint with it but it is mainly set up for fishers and shooters. The rooms are very comfortable and surprisingly large with king sized beds, I had my evening meal off the bar menu, not a big selection but cooked... More

Stopped at this country hotel and tea room got a spot of tea and cake. A lovely dinning area with Hunter green and burgundy plaid decorating made a cozy atmosphere for visiting with friends and relaxing. The tea was perfect and the cakes were yummy.

It's been on my bucket list for a while to visit Altnaharra stay and fish for wild brown trout. I did just that in July this year accompanied by my brother and his wife .The thing about Altnarra is it delivers what it says on the can.The fishing was excellent with decent boats and free rising trout. We even had a... We spent two wonderful nights at this hotel whilst exploring the Highlands. It has everything you would hope for in a remote hotel in the Highlands of Scotland including a cosy welcoming lounge and a well-stocked bar with a wide variety of whiskies and ales. The room was nicely decorated and very clean. The highlight of our stay was the... More

Comfortable hotel with basic amenities which could be really good with a few not very expensive changes. Attentive service from small team who seemed to do everything. good simple menu and adequate Justerini & Brooks wine list. Bedrooms and particularly bathrooms need investing in. also WiFi is poor quality and very limited range. well located for cycling and walking as... More

Thank you for your kind review and thoughtful suggestions. Every year we do invest significant sums to improve the Altnaharra and this year will be no exception. Although all of our bathrooms were completely re-fitted less than a decade ago, a quarter of these were again upgraded last year and the remainder will attended to later this year. The wi-fi... We spent a couple of nights at the Altnaharra Hotel in late May. It makes a good base for climbing the nearby Munros of Ben Hope and Ben Klibreck. But with those peaks now safely in the bag, I doubt I'd return. There's nothing particularly awful about the hotel. In fact it's a nice enough place. But it really lacks... More

I stayed three nights here and thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet. Food was excellent and the people running it were very friendly. It is an old shooting lodge with log fires and a comforting feel. The chef provides really good meals and the wifi coverage was fine for me albeit limited to one area of the hotel. Well worth... This is a great hotel although we stayed in the log cabin we did have meals in the hotel.
