This was our first tine to Destin and Camp Gulf and I wanted to provide an overall review of Camp Gulf. The overall review is a 5, I'm not sure why a couple of picky people pick apart the review by basing the overall review off one issue. I will break down my review and provide a reviews for Location, Layout, Parking Service and Price, Cleanliness and : LOCATION - 5 - Camp Gulf is conveniently located in Miramar, close to everything, grocery stores, outlets, beach and restaurants!. While Camp Gulf is not actually located in the city of Destin, it's by far the best RV resort with a large private beach. BEACH ACCESS - 5 - Camp Gulf has a private beach, with enough space for hundreds of RV campers with canopies, While Camp Gulf is not actually located in the city of Destin it is by far the best RV resort with a large private beach. There's another RV park and they have a small beach front section. If I could give a higher review I would give them a 10. They have beach front RV sites (unless you're in the in crowd, you probably won't be lucky). I tried a for a year out for beach front or beach rows and was unsuccessful! LAYOUT - 2 - This can't be changed, but I wanted to add, if you have a large RV (38 or longer) and truck it could be tricky to park, the distance of the sites across from one another are very close. Luckily for us we were at site 531 across from the playground and we had enough room to maneuver. NOTICE if you're in site 532 and your RV and truck equal 56 feet, there's a retraining wall and it could be tricky for you. PARKING - 3 - Parking is TIGHT, spaces are TIGHT, if you have a second car, you will not be able to park in in your spot, there's literally no space, but they do have some overflow. Remember this RV resort is BEACH FRONT and they have made the best of their resort. Although parking and the space were tight I will return again PRICE - 4 - I think it's comparable for a RV resort with private beach front access in Miramar near Destin. Again, I believe Camp Gulf is the ONLY RV resort with the largest beach front access. There is one more, but the beach front access is small and another one is only Bay access not beach. SERVICE - 4 - I had no issue with service or their, they were quite welcoming, however I would like to add, a couple of the front desk ladies did not have a mask on. It didn't bother me, because I had my mask on. CLEANLINESS - 5 - While we didn't use the "Bathhouse" 6 or 7 individual shower, sink and toilet we did peek inside and they were clean. The grounds were kept clean and the ground staff was visible daily. RECERATION - 5 - You can rent golf carts, they have two pools, activity center, Koi pond (you can buy koi to feed the fish), dog area with poop bags and a play ground around for the kids. In conclusion, we will definitely return next year, even if we can't get beach front!…
We check in on Aug 27,2020 to this camp site for peace and serenity the greeter ask use if we wanted to put our trailer in storage in there overflow area I asked him if it was secured he said yes it is under surveillance well went to check on the trailer on Aug 29,2020 and it was gone stolen
I was shocked that the 3 clerks checking in guests inside the office were not wearing masks. Neither was the person directing guests at the entry gate. The office has a sign on it stating that no more than 10 people may enter at a time - there were 17 - the sign is not enforced. Of the 17, 0 were wearing masks, and there was a lack of social distancing at the check-in counter. At the nearby outlet mall, 100% of shoppers and workers in stores wore masks, 50% occupancy was enforced and social distancing was adhered to at the checkouts. That contrast with Camp Gulf demonstrated to me that Camp Gulf (and it's guests) have thrown caution out the window, and lack respect for others and the spread of the virus. I won't be back.
We stayed here for 3 nights in June, and had a pretty good stay. We had a beach front site for our 40 ft 5th wheel trailer. We were unable to get into our site on the first try due to the trucks parked across from us, but a worker helped us come in backwards on the street to get in. Once we were in the site, everything was great. Our only hesitation is that with a larger rig, you may or may not be able to get in/out of your site depending on how your neighbors park their vehicles. Thankfully, we had nice neighbors that moved their trucks when it was time for us to leave. We did not use the pools or bathhouse, but the beach area was well maintained. We would probably come back, but stay in a different part of the park that had easier access to come and go.
The property was nice but we had problems with the cable service .we stopped at the front office and told them and before we could get to our campsite there was three young guys that didn't know no more than I did and said they would get the main guy to come and check it the next morning but he never showed up.other than that everything was ok.
