I will be back, and soon! This hotel/resort really and truly knows how to treat their guest!! I booked a queen room with a view of the marina..the view was slightly obscured by the building, but that didn’t bother us much. The hotel was super clean, well maintained, and your definition of overall luxury. You really don’t have to move your car once you’re here because, not only do they offer shuttle service to and from the beach, a walk through the lobby to your right is The Village of Baytown Wharf which has entertainment and activities for both adults and kids. Plenty of amazing restaurants and bars...Fat Tuesdays, etc. My grandkids enjoyed the ice cream shops, riding the carousel, and the park playing area.

I was lucky enough to have Sarah as my esthetician. She was beyond wonderful. I'm picky and nerdy when it comes to product and was happy to find The products they use are from “Osea” from Malibu! An animal cruelty-free, vegan, holistic line! With a seaweed based line sorted from Patagonia! After receiving the most relaxing and luxurious facial of my life with Sarah, I was hooked. I ended up booking a head to toe (full body scrub) treatment right after. Even got my eye lash tinted, and brows shaped by her. The experience was next level for sure. Sadly, there isn't a common area that you can obnoxiously laugh and chat inside - like a true common area or steam room, so I met my friends at the rooftop pool where I found live music and a chill vibe. Can't recommend Sarah at the spa enough, she went over and beyond to accommodate my friends and I.

Stayed here recently with the family. Love the beauty of the hotel itself and the welcoming fresh flowers and fragrance each time you walk in. Had excellent service from Brian the valet, Bruce the bellman, and Emily the server at the roof top pool. The restaurant Ovide was an excellent dinner. We had a room price reflective of the shoulder season so felt it was fair. However, in order to get a 5 star rating Hotel Effie should offer self-parking and improve housekeeping. Had 4 in our room, but only 3 towels. After multiple calls went no where, we finally had to ask a maid one day for an extra towel. We did not have the room cleaned which I would certainly expect from a luxury hotel especially post-Covid.

Hotel Effie!! I could go on and on about it. It’s immaculate, welcoming, peaceful, and beautifully designed down to the last detail. The amazing staff made us feel like valued guests from the moment we drove through the circular entrance and under the porte cochere. We were greeted by smiling faces eager to help us out of our car and into the welcoming lobby, while they took care of our luggage. The front desk staff were warm and professional. The lobby is light and airy, and we enjoyed the uniquely designed seating areas on either side of it. When you go, you must sit in the unusual and surprisingly comfortable rocking chairs under the lovely portrait of Effie, the hotel’s namesake. I would have bought both chairs, if they’d been for sale, and put them in my home. Not only are they a fun design and made for relaxing, they’re wonderful for a quick catnap and a good conversation starter. Now to our well-designed 8th floor Executive Suite. It was a peacefully-quiet, well-appointed and beautiful room. It was impeccable--not even one stray hair was found. That is attention to detail! The classy drapes and sheers in the sitting area and bedroom were opened with the push of a button...voila! There's a safe in both rooms, as well. The table and chairs by the wet bar served as a catch-all for snacks, napkins, etc., while the large countertop under the tv in the sitting room was a perfect spot for sunscreen, sunhats, pens, scissors, hand sanitizer, etc. All the miscellaneous stuff. The balcony of our room was long! And it overlooked the marina and bay...it was VIP seating for the Tuesday night fireworks in Baytowne Wharf. If you've visited the Wharf in summer's past, you'll be even more entertained by some of the new additions to their events calendar. On Friday night, in addition to the Wednesday Night Concert Series on the Events Plaza Stage, we were thrilled to also have live entertainment by the great Casey Kearney. She performed on the new stage on Adventure Lane. We had chaired-seating, and it's located just across from the Blast Arcade and Laser Maze. My daughter and I have taken trips to Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort for many years. The moment we leave to go home we start dreaming of our next visit. The resort is like an oasis carved out of a piece of paradise. From the impeccable landscaping to the pristine ponds, bay, ocean and beach, it's a vacationer's dream--and right here on American soil...avoiding the hassel of international travel. The lush trees provide green umbrellas of shade for long walks and bike rides. Speaking of bike rides, we always enjoy bike riding, and their bikes are easy to ride. The Yolo bikes come with their own seats, which are really comfortable on rides more than 30-minutes long. Now for some honorable mentions. I hope you'll have a reason to meet SGBRs Executive Director of Resort Sales, Andrew Lott...more fittingly, Prince Andrew! He has a passion for hospitality and goes above and beyond to ensure guests are themselves treated like royalty. After long and successful affiliations with some of the most esteemed names in the hospitality industry, he has evidently put his handprint of perfection on SGBR. It was great before and it’s phenomenal now!! Before I close, it would be remiss of me not to mention Frank and Maria. They oversee the Ara Rooftop Pool & Lounge. As the manager, Frank does an exemplary job of making sure his “ship” runs smoothly. He’s fortunate to have Maria as his assistant manager. Together they are the quintessential team that ensures the day-to-day success of ARA. By-the-way, before you head out for your Hotel Effie stay, you might want to book a cabana ahead of time. It’s the best way to relax and enjoy the rooftop experience! We enjoyed having the luxury of a cabana on three different days while we were there. However, just being in the ARA environment is a delight. And if you want to be even more spoiled, Spa Lilliana resides at Hotel Effie. It's an elevator ride away from your room...it's elegant and luxurious! May you enjoy your stay even more than we did…if that’s possible!

The hotel is gorgeous. Thats about all the nice things I have to say about the place. While it looks nice, its clear they have made some cheap choices when it comes to the rooms; Plastic toilet seats, plastic shower. They price gouge you at every turn. NO SELF PARKING! You are forced to use valet parking at $25 a day. Pushy door man rip your bags out of your hands and then practically takes money out of your wallet. $45 a day to rent a beach umbrella. $18 for a pina coloada that comes from a gas station slushy machine. $20 for a towel. The pool looked nice and was the main reason booked the place. However it is very shallow and way smaller than I thought. With nine floors of people trying to use one tiny shallow pool, I would rather stuff a towel in the shower drain and swim in the puddle. The shuttle service is atrocious. Just make sure you bring plenty of water so you don’t die of dehydration waiting on them. The beach is so packed with all their hotels funneled in to a 100 yards of beach. SIX+ rows of beach umbrellas. You get an excellent view of blue umbrellas and asses. Did I mention $45 a day! So many rude employees diving into your pockets for tips. I had to book a place last minute and this was one of the few places remaining and it looked amazing, but its clear they spent more on photography and marketing than the details of staying here. I hope they become more welcoming and friendly but I wont be back to find out.
