Lovely traditional pub, very friendly service, good menu all cooked by very good chef. Even a basic mushroom omelette felt like a special dish. Prices reasonable. Wood burning stove was very welcome on a cold day. Will definitely be back.

Had lunch here with a friend, we were the only two eating, such a shame because the food is very good and very reasonably priced. The lady serving was friendly and helpful. Was delighted to find so much fresh garnish with the food - have been to places before who seem to think a couple of lettuce leaves and a... More

This is a traditional Scottish hotel in the small village of Marykirk in Angus. Its bar and restaurant are well frequented by locals as well as people travelling from further afield to enjoy the excellent food on offer. You'll find it well booked for the autumn salmon fishing on the river North Esk which is just a mile or so... More

Was in the area for salmon fishing on the North Esk and ate a couple of dinners in the hotel. Usual high standard of food and service from Teresa and Gordon in the kitchen. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

Very good wholesome meal. Steak was cooked to perfection with a very tasty peppercorn sauce. Service was swift and very pleasant waitress. The hotel is very clean and well looked after. Very pleasant owner who took time to chat to us as new customers. We'll be back!

We live in Marykirk and go to the hotel for lunches and dinners regularly. Food is always of excellent quality and there is a good choice. My aunt cannot eat gluten and they always have a few choices for her. The staff are all really nice and make you feel extremely welcome. Very friendly atmosphere and we always prefer eating... More

We live in Marykirk and have used the Marykirk Hotel for occasional lunches and evening meals for years. Teresa and all her staff are always welcoming and attentive, and the kitchen invariably provides fresh, tasty and ample, meals. A highlight was our 50th wedding anniversary when friends organised a "surprise dinner" when Teresa catered for a party of well over... More

Stayed here with fellow fisherman for 4 nights. Very welcoming, brilliant breakfasts and evening meals. Perfect for anyone fishing the North Esk. Looking forward to returning in July. Would highly recommend the steak pie. Rooms very clean and comfortable, wifi not great due to very thick walls, however they are trying to improve it.

We've been to the Marykirk 5 times in the last 3 years!!! It's not on the obvious tourist trails and it's not a 'boutique' hotel but it's warm, cosy and welcoming. It's a locals pub too but you will never feel like an outsider. We stay there because we fish for salmon on the North Esk just down the road... More
