Just got back from 2 days at the Lion Rick and Dave were very superb mine hosts. The room we had was clean and spotless ( 5) The ambience given means they deserve to succeed. The locals on Saturday afternoon and also in the evening were very friendly and welcoming. Would recommend the Cumberland Ale. Will look forward to going...

We visited The Lion for a 2 night stay at the end of July, we just haven't had the time to write a review earlier, sorry guys! The 1st thing that hits you is that Berriew is a beautiful, unspoilt little village, just a stones throw from the main road. We received a very warm welcome on arrival from the...

This is a favourite of mine and although recently taken over by new management, they are doing a fantastic job and so we will definitely return. There are seven rooms in this quaint 17th century inn, which sits next door to the church in the very picturesque and peaceful village of Berriew. The rooms all have en-suite and the one...

We booked this stay with another couple through Groupon. We did not know of the troubles the new owners have had with discount offers, but we were glad that they honoured our booking. Check in was easy and we were shown to out room (room 6 over looking the church). The rooms are OK but could do with some updating,...

Had 2 nights on a deal, this is a lovely character pub with friendly staff. Would love to go back next summer and sit outside on a balmy evening. The castle in Welshpool is worth a visit and has lovely grounds.

We just had 1 night here, given to us as a present, we loved it. Rick and Dave are so friendly, the rest of the staff are lovely too. This is NOT a Premier Inn, it is a lovely, old coaching Inn, if you want peace, good food, friendly faces..then this is your place. It is in a very tiny,...

Rick & Dave have made us very welcomed - we had a quaint room (4) which suited us ideally. Food was good English grub - recommend the lamb hotpot and the mixed grill is huge! We will be going back as this hotel & restaurant is both relaxed and Lovely whilst being an ideal base to explore the Welshpool, Carding...

We have just spent a couple of nights at the Lion and were happy with all aspects of our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout and nothing was too much trouble. The room was fine and the food was of a good standard. We will recommend it to friends and will stay again possibly with American visitors.

Arrived for a weekend break booked through Groupon. Our room, No 2, was very spacious, nothing WOW but was ok. There was free WiFi that was quite slow but we were informed it would be in that area. We ate there both nights and the food was excellent as was the service. It is a lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings,...

Just had a very enjoyable short break at the Lion. Everyone was very friendly - nothing was too much trouble. The room was very comfortable, & the food was extremely enjoyable. We ate & drank at the hotel both nights & we were made very welcome. The new owners are trying very hard to keep the hotel going, despite the...
