When in to the so called restaurant today 19 June 2019 . The restaurant was empty (12.35) and the meal was very poor and very expensive, the member of staff was very rude with no management able. Management or owner please look at a refit or just close down .

Haven't been before. The place smelt damp, but decided to give it a go anyway. The service was good and staff polite. There wasn't many customers there even though it was a Saturday. The meal was fairly average and portions a little small. Wouldn't rush back again.

So this place is looking more and more rundown everyone I go there. Last night was no exception. The toilets are absolutely appalling you can tell no staff check them, there was no toilet rolls. There's dirty menstrual pads on the floor, cobwebs full of dust hanging in the corners and down the walls. There was only one tap working over two sinks, one of the taps had no water coming from it an dthat was probably a good thing as when you touched the tap the whole thing moved! Is there no shame in your establishment!? Men playing pool in the old restaurant area were falling over a hole in the floor Covered by carpet. Shocking. I wouldn't want to stay in the rooms upstairs after seeing the public areas.

I knew the Ambassador was an old hotel awaiting refurbishment when I booked. The staff are so friendly and helpful which goes a long way. My husband and I had a lovely welcome from Sean and Leanne who are doing an amazing job and are happy to go out of their way to help you.The hotel is clean, with modern furnishings and homely items in the rooms to improve the look. The hotel was taken over last September. The management are trying their best to improve the hotel. Free car parking at the rear. On arrival we had arranged to have strawberries dipped in chocolate and a Californian wine in our room. They were arranged beautifully in our room which could have competed with a top class hotel. The wi fi was intermittent, I did notice boosters around the hotel but due to its size the signal didn't always carry far enough. Noise from the street and bars was also an issue which the management acknowledge. The breakfast was freshly cooked and lovely. We saw the live band in the hotel bar and thoroughly enjoyed the night. I would stay there again as Neath is a lovely town and the hotel is situated 3 minutes walk to the railway station. Shops, restaurants and bars are on the doorstep. The hotel has many beautiful features and will be transformed when refurbished. Yes, the hotel is old - rickety stairs, landings like rabbit warrens, wobbly floors, antique furniture but the staff are exceptional and give the place a homely, personal feel. We would definitely stay at The Ambassador again and have lovely memories of a fab weekend.

OK price at £10 an adult, I think £8 would be more appropriate. Buffet style layout with a choice of meats. All meats were tasty. Good selection of veg, plenty of gravy and condiments. Upon arrival the greeting wasnt overly good by a male member of staff, however the chef and the young girl waitress were fab, very polite and couldnt do enough. There wasn't much of an atmosphere and on times I felt staff were 'watching' rather than doing. Drink prices were OK and drinks were served promptly. Kids could chose carvery or from a kids menu which I liked. Overall a nice enough place that we would return to.
