Ended up eating here as where we had planned to go was full. We were welcomed by the bar man and found ourselves a table. The menu had something for everyone, portions are very generous. The waiting staff were very attentive and friendly, will definitely be back to sample a dessert as they looked amazing but we shouldn't of had... More

What a lovely, atmospheric place to have something to eat. I was just expecting the usual standard pub fare, at first glance of the menu I thought that it was going to be exactly that! However, standard the menu, the food surpassed all expectations. I had the biggest, snowy white cod, in the crunchiest, lightest batter, complemented by chips and... More

How can I best describe this wonderful place? It has proper ale, proper food, a proper fire - two in fact and a proper welcome! In short a proper old fashioned pub. This is my second visit here and I look forward to my next.

We visited Saturday night for an evening meal. We tried to book a table before hand but were advised on the phone that they didn't take booking however when we arrived we heard others being taken to tables that they had booked! Despite this we were shown to a table straight away - the pub was very busy and you... More

Eaten here in the past but decided we'd have an overnight stay this time too! Rooms clean & all the amenities you need. My only gripe was they could do with some new mattresses. However we had a comfortable stay. Ate in the evening . Food was fantastic, staff very friendly & the setting just perfect with the open fires... More

A lovely, friendly and informal atmosphere with beautifully cooked huge portions of food . Have been many times and have never been disappointed . We didn't stay in the hotel but our relatives loved their family room when they did .
