I had so much fun with Alex from the teen club!! He helped me with the wakeboard activity with his good tips and tricks. I loved the scuba diving also because the view was so great! We saw sharks and stingrays, that was an amazing sight. I really hope to come back here soon and meet all my friends again!

My group and myself spent a wonderful week at this village. Everything was terrific! The food was excellent, especially the breads and pastries. Don’t pass up the chocolate bread. It is to die for. Aside from being a little bit tired, the rooms were all fine. I’m not sure what the people are talking about when they complain about the rooms. My group had 15 rooms and there was not a problem with any of them. The Sports were everything you could ask for. Several of my group did sailing, water skiing and tennis. Most of us were scuba divers and I cannot say enough good things about the scuba team. They treat the guests as though they were celebrities. If you are a diver you will not be disappointed.

We stayed in Club Med Columbus Isle in Bahamas during the month of March. This was our fourth Club Med visit and first at this location. It’s a very different Club Med. More laidback, quieter and more relaxing. Most tourists are French and Canadian French. Mostly older couples and families with older kids which was a plus. The rooms are dated but clean and good size.Loved the body lotion and the shampoo line. We stayed in the deluxe room type with a beautiful view of the ocean. The food is decent but nothing special. The GOs were great, we loved nightly entertainment by Lance, Julien, Sophie and others. Scuba with Pierre was fun but the weather was not great, most days were very windy and chilly. The tennis courts are always available, what a difference from Cancun where you had to “fight” with ten other people for space. The things that we did not like, was the subpar service at the restaurants and the front desk as well as the old, torn and too small beach umbrellas. A lot room there for improvement. Also, the grounds need much more attention too. The beach was absolutely amazing though, no other resorts around. Just beautiful!

If someone is looking for a review with absolutes, this won’t be it. There were things I really enjoyed but at the same time reasons I might not do it again. A bit of background, we chose Club Med because of its all- inclusive nature as a vacation for wife and I our sons and their families. Since our daughters in law are both planning more children the Bahamas’ certification as Zika Virus free was important to them. But enough of that, on to the resort. We arrived by Bahamasair on an older well worn aircraft. In flight service on our 55 minute flight consisted of warm bottles of water and bag chips. But hey, it’s 55 minutes and we’re headed to paradise. Soon after arrival we hit a reservations snag. We’d reserved a 2 bedroom and 2 one bedrooms. All that was here were the one bedrooms. After a few phone calls and many apologies Sam, the manager of reservations, was able to get us into a 2 bedroom. Sam would turn out to just be one of the wonderful, friendly and engaging staff members we would encounter during or stay. Prior to arriving I’d read about themed dress codes, lots of activities and other things which conjured images of Catskills resorts of the 50’s. I’ve got to admit this was curious to me. As we arrived I just didn’t know how well the fit my wife and I and our vacation style. One of my sons had read a comment that said “ Think of this as adult summer camp” Focusing all my experiences of the week through that prism made all the difference. Accommodations: Beds were very comfortable. They are quite spacious with great closet space and large bathrooms. Rooms were generally showing some age but I wasn’t expecting 5 star opulence. It did take the AC running at max and keeping blinds drawn during the afternoon to keep the room comfortable. Food: Such a subjective topic I hesitate to say much. My wife and I felt it was good, not great. It’s all buffet service with good variety. Having cruised many times I likened it to the buffet on. Carnival ship. I had some good things and some fairly average things. Again I admit tastes vary and one person’s great is another’s “meh” A positive constant remains the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. Everyone there is so pleasant and welcoming. Beverage service: In my opinion, again subjective, the weakest link of the week on the island. Local beers are quite good but that was it. Well liquors are of the lowest quality. Most everything centers around very sweet, fruit juice based “tropical drinks”. I get it we’re on an island in the tropics with a clientele that is mostly French and Canadian. It’s a natural fit. It just isn’t something my wife or I can do. Only late in the week I learned one could ask for mid grade liquors such as Bacardi rum or Bombay Gin in mixed drinks. For what we paid I think that information should have been available from the first day. Despite all that, the bartenders, especially Fab, Allan and all the staff at the Beach Bar were really fun, efficient and friendly. Summary: There is lots to do at Club Med ; sailing, kayaking, snorkeling, scuba, water skiing, paddle boards.dancing, shows and group activities off all sorts. You can also sit on the beach all day. The water is absolutely beautiful and the sand is clean. Remember, it’s summer camp for adults. There are plenty of families there too and there’s lots for them as well. As I’ve said in many places the staff was wonderful and for me was one of the bright parts of the week. I hope I’ve provided a measured and fair review. Club Med isn’t for everyone . It might not be for us again but it certainly works for thousands weekly in numerous locations.
