Okay, let’s accept the fact that a visit to Bairs Lodge is not an inexpensive venture but having enjoyed 7 nights and 6 full days fishing there between 19th and 26th October I’d say it’s money well spent. The lodge is managed by Kelby and Sam who cannot do enough to be helpful. Kelby does his best to make sure that you are partnered up with fishing guides that match your fishing experience and ambitions for the trip. This is particularly important on the first couple of days if you are new to bone fishing. This said you will have the guides rotated with you to make sure you gain experience from their differing styles and approaches to the fishing. Sam looks after the ‘front of house’ and the running of a small but very dedicated team who make sure the time you are not fishing is really, really enjoyable. The accommodation is excellent; the chef makes sure that every meal is delicious and featuring mainly on local fish. A very well stocked and open bar just adds to the experience. I relied on the Lodge’s loaner rods, reels and fly line and again it was top quality and nicely balanced and matched to the challenges of the bone fish. In addition to this Kelby was able to provide me with a loan of a pair of flats wading boots. The fishing was great, I lost count on the number of bone fish I caught but at least 60 over the 6 days with a number of them in the 7/8lb range. There is no overcrowding of the waters. The only other boats I saw on the fishing grounds were others from the lodge and that was only in the passing. When fishing there was no sign of other boats. So, in summary, a great venue really well staffed and managed by the exceptional Kelby and Sam. The fishing is brilliant with very experienced guides who will put you onto fish no matter your experience. Yes, it’s expensive but just spend the kids’ inheritance on the trip - you won’t regret it.

I spent a marvelous week at Bair's Lodge as part of Gink and Gasoline's and Louis Cahill's "Bonefish 101' course. This trip was graciously rescheduled by Bair's Lodge after a COVID scare on Andros Island in January 2022. This is an older lodge that is meticulously maintained and very, very comfortable. Andros Island is remote and everything at this lodge revolves around bonefishing. The lodge managers, husband and wife team Derrick and Margaret, are absolute customer service professionals, and their entire staff - guides, chef, servers, housekeepers and boat boys are super friendly, helpful, and courteous. I had a personal, painful and scary medical issue during my stay, and Derrick and Margaret treated me like family and managed the crisis wonderfully, actually 'saving' my trip which I'd looked forward to for almost 2 years. The natural beauty of the endless fishing flats, creeks, and mangroves are only topped by the incredible number of bonefish, including daily trophy fish of over 10 pounds. Gourmet breakfasts, custom-ordered lunches, appetizers and chilled towels upon return from fishing, an open bar, and incredible dinners are all part of the package. I made great friends - how can you not when everyone, including rookies like me, are catching fish all day and then treated like royalty...?! There's not much else to do on this beautiful southern end of South Andros but I did hear of others doing some snorkeling and scuba diving which can be arranged ahead of time. If a spouse or partner wasn't fishing, there is a small, very pretty beach to relax at. The lodge has a small 'fly shop' with most of the little things a fly fisherman might need plus logo clothing and hats. The lodge graciously provided high-end rod/reel/line combos for me to use throughout the trip which gave me the opportunity to demo excellent equipment there. I arrived to Congo Town airport with a friend in a private plane and there are other charters and small local 'island hoppers' that service South Andros out of the Ft Lauderdale Executive Airport and other locations in the Bahamas. I'm totally hooked on bonefishing now, and Bair's Lodge staff and guides have set a high standard. I've already booked for next year!

Just returned from a great week at Bair's Lodge. The flight in from Ft. Lauderdale on the single engine 6 seater was easy and we were quickly transported to the lodge. Cold drinks and beautiful accommodations were waiting to welcome us in. Margaret and Derek, the lodge managers showed us around and Derek helped us get our gear ready for fishing to begin the next morning. A few anglers floated in around 4 from the day's fishing and we got some tall tales and great pictures of what was to come. Arise at 6 and coffee's on. Made to order breakfast at 7, in the boats at 8. What follows daily is 8 hours of fishing the best bonefish grounds in the world, coupled with a raw beauty in every direction as stunning as one could imagine. Endless flats, crystal waters, cays, and bones. The guides are top notch. Tee, Ronnie, Gary, and Harley, each put us on the bones, showed us tips and techniques. They'll judge your casting abilities and set you up for success. I am a novice fly angler, never fished for bone, and set hooks in nearly 50 fish in 4 days. The guides are so good that with their direction, most of those fish I caught I actually never saw. The guides tell you where to cast, when to drop it, and practically when to set the hook. The only thing possibly better than the fishing was the food at the end of the day, blacked grouper, stuffed lobster, snapper, conch, and one great week long open bar. I really can't say enough about all the staff and the trip. from top to bottom its a 5 star experience. My only concern is every trip from here on may never compare.

Just returned from South Andros, Bahamas. It is an amazing experience and the bonefishing here is awsome. The lodge is very comfortable, with an atmosphere as relaxed as it gets in the Bahamas. Lodge managers Kyle and Kitry did their best to and succeeded in making a memorable week for us. Our guides Tee, Gary, Leslie, Chris, Harley worked hard to spot the bones and put us on fish and they contributed a lot to the success of our flyfishing trip. Waking up early in the morning just to have your first cup of coffee in the light breeze under the coconut trees, watching the guides silently preparing the skiffs for another day of fishing, staying on the bow for hours watching for bonefish, casting and hooking them just to have 300feet of line and backing out in seconds, sometimes loosing, sometimes landing them, staring at the amazing beauty of the flats in the sun, getting back to the lodge and having the first long drink of the day, then terrific dinner based on fresh conch or fish, now that's something every flyfisher deserves to experience.

Visited Bair’s Lodge last week for a few days. My first time on South Andros. Had a fabulous time thanks to the great hospitality of James and Liz, the good humour and conviviality of the family style dining and some big bonefish. Rooms were lovely, guides were good - can’t fault it. Will be back! Thank you.

Host/Hostess of jamie & Steph make this place a sheer delight with personalized service and fantastic attention to detail. From awaiting your arrival at the airport or from a long day of fishing with a cool towel & refreshing cocktail, this pair has makes a fantastic experience. Hotel furnishings & amenities are beach cottage comfortable. Great design and layout of property as everything has been properly thought out. Bed comfy, showers strong, great smelling amenities. First floor rooms have less stairs to mount so the room would be easier to return to after a vigorous session of whetting one's palette after telling and hearing so many fishing stories. THe Amazing part is all in the people- other guests are a delight & also dedicated to the sport- but the magic is in the fantastic guides, the staff and of course again the Host & Hostess.

First time on Andros, NOT gonna be my last! Bair's Lodge proved to be outstanding in every aspect. Managers Jamie and Steph expertly lead a staff of motivated, talented, friendly, patient and accommodating Bahamians. The fishing: Wow! Wow! Wow! We faced some challenging weather while there (cold front, 30 knot winds on one day), but managed tight lines every day. The guides do a good job of positioning the brand-new Maverick Mirage HPX-V flats boats (the very best boat for the job, hands down!) for optimal casting and can see fish when you swear they're pulling your leg! When the weather settled down, the fishing was excellent. Lots of fish, and some big ones for sure. On my last day, I set a healthy goal for myself of catching 20 fish. Heck, we boated 22 by lunch! That day, my Guide Chris helped me boat 39 bonefish, with a couple of 9-pounders in the mix. This is an amazing fishery. The lodge was well appointed in every way. The beds were among the best I've experienced outside my own home. The bar was very well stocked with premium spirits, wine and beer, and the food was superb. Chef made his daily visit to the table to explain the dinner menu, and he should be very proud of his work....no one had a meal that was less than excellent. Typical day: wake up fully rested, enjoy a great breakfast, grab your flyrod, walk about 40 feet across the beach to a waiting and take a ride to some of the best bonefishing on the planet. Enjoy a great day of fishing, and upon return to the beach, as the boat kisses the sand, one is greeted with a refreshing cocktail and scrumptous appetizers. Your rods are rinsed off immediately by the staff and secured in the rack in front of the lodge. Grab a shower, enjoy cocktails, appetizers and stories with your friends or other guests (who, no doubt, will become friends too!) and then enjoy an amazing dinner. Afterwards, head out front, grab a seat in front of the fireplace on the beach and solve all of the world's problems under the stars. Repeat daily. This place doesn't miss a beat, and I'll be booking again for next year, FOR SURE!

Blairs is a strong supporter in conservation and scientific research, hence an easy choice to travel too and support. The facility is immaculate, the rooms are perfect, the staff are unbelievably accommodating, and the location is outstanding. The HIGHLIGHT for me was the award winning quality of the food produced by chef Valentino and the rich inclusion of local Bahamian people who bring a warmth and friendliness to everything!

I don't always go fishing for bonefish, but when I do, it's at Bair's Lodge on South Andros. Very comfortable and well appointed rooms and beds, well maintained skiffs from which to fish, excellent guides who are patient teachers and fun to spend time with, well stocked open bar and delicious food that exceeds expectations. The management and house staff are wonderfully friendly and work to help you have a good time. This is really a lovely place.

My Baylor ortho buddies and I have had a blast fly fishing with Brian McGeehan of Montana Anglers for a number of years, and we decided this year to go salt water and chase bonefish on fly. Without hesitation, Brian suggested Bair's Lodge, and without hesitation, I highly, highly recommend it to anyone else! The Lodge managers, Doug and Sue, are free spirit, laid back and joyful people with a sincere dedication to making sure their guests are treated like royalty. The setting is gorgeous, the food phenomenal, and the fishing was spectacular. Being a fly fishing 'permanent beginner', my goal was simply to catch one bonefish on fly. On the first day we went as couples and took our wives out in each boat; and with Harley's expert guidance, on my first cast, I caught one, second cast, caught another. What a thrill! During 3 days of fishing I caught over 20 bonefish, but the real joy was being together with our wives and life long friends in such an amazing, remote and gorgeous setting, being attended to by such capable and lovely people. Can't wait to go back!
