e visited here in March 2022 while cruising on the Carnival Dream. We opted to book through bahamasdaypass.com (89.00 per person) and get our own taxi to the Grand Lucayan Resort. The taxi fare one way was $6.00 per person and the vans are not in good shape, but had air and got us there. Our driver to the resort was pleasant, but our driver back was very angry and somewhat hateful. The Lighthouse Pointe Grand Lucayan was nice upon arrival, and the staff was pleasant. The hotel entrance was marbled and clean, very pretty and open. The pool area was vast and the water was clear and clean, but it was too cool to swim. The beach is clean and the sand is soft with plenty of lounge chairs to choose from. They offer towels for a $20.00 deposit, and upon return, you will receive an $18.00 refund. The ocean was too cold for us to get into but it is absolutely beautiful! They do offer drinks and food in the all-inclusive package. The bartender was friendly enough but was not fast with drinks and there was a small very select drink menu. The food was promoted as a buffet and grill, but it is just a small grill behind the bar. They do offer a menu, and the food we tried was presented well and very good. The Straw Market is across the street and a very short walking distance and this is also where you meet your return taxi driver. Grand Lucaya does not allow taxis to stay on the premises.…
Where to start. Probably by saying the only good thing about it, that the staff are charming, even if ineffectual. The room stank of mildew. The pool was filthy and not vacuumed. The food was awful. The grounds were littered. Food: French fries were cooked in oil so old that it was rancid. 'Fresh' orange juice on the breakfast menu actually came out of a carton. Poached eggs were served in a puddle of their vinegar flavoured cooking water. Crab cakes were battered and deep fried slimy mush. Croutons on the salad were broken up crackers. Outside my room, old plastic cups, wet Kleenex. Last morning here, 8:30am, housekeeping is pounding on the door to find out when I'm leaving so that they can clean the room. I could go on and on, but it's just too depressing. A DJ by the pool had the music pounding even though there was only myself and two other couples there.…
The Grand Lacayan has undergone alot of renovations and updates over the past 3 years. This hotel from the time you walk in the main lobby until you open the door to your room is always bright, friendly, modern and clean.
My wife and I stayed at the all-inclusive Lighthouse Pointe the 1st week of August, 2021. We loved it. The people are fantastic. The food was surprisingly good and made fresh to order. So you need to wait a few minutes to eat, which is enough time to enjoy a drink. The pool/beach setting is beautiful and very comfortable. Our room was a little dated but I wasn't there to admire to moderness of the showerhead. The room was comfortable and had everything that we needed, including a mini-fridge. We are both pescatarian and had a lot of great meal options. You are on the beach, across from the harbor and walking distance to the Straw Market and other shops. It is a short ride to the Wednesday Fish Fry. I love Grand Bahama Island and its people. My favorite place to stay on Grand Bahama Island is now the Grand Lucayan. Naturally, there are some limitations of service during a pandemic. There were few guests during our visit. But despite that, it was a fantastic stay for us and we will be back.…
I had the pleasure of getting married at Grand Lucayan resort and my family truly had a blast. The staff was more than accommodating, everyone was very friendly. Lisa did an amazing job on coordinating everything with us. And I have to give an a big kudos to my favorite bartender on the property... Kenneth!! I hope this guy gets a raise! If your thinking about having a wedding there, dont hesitate to do it. And make sure you sail with Bahamas Paradise cruise line!
Completely mess in the booking, and the receptionist Mrs. Philippa was rude like no one. First I've got a single room assigned, but somebody was already in, after they assigned me another room, the same was reassigned to somebody else. The receptionist kept being rude with no reason.
Rooms were clean with adequate space, each with an outside seating area. Food was plentiful but mediocre and not always hot. Pool was not heated and too cold for even this northern body to enjoy. Near local shops, walkable but not what I, at 65 with a bad back would, call a short walk. Daily repeat of the same entertainment in the pool area in the afternoon. Do not sell post cards or postage or have an outgoing mail slot for guests. Well appointed lobby area, not being used to its full potential. Staff were pleasant and as accommodating as they could be under the circumstance of the request. Indeed, a porter volunteered to mail my postcards once I had acquired them at the shopping area. Our stay was not long enough to venture out much to other activities reported to be in the area. Perhaps that would add to your stay. Some activities for children on premise. Considering the rate we paid for this all inclusive stay, the value we received was more than worth the price we paid. …
We came here on a cruise and took a taxi to this resort and purchased a day pass. This place is really nice and we enjoyed the beach and the pool. They have a bar and restaurant on site. Will be returning in the future!
I still haven't figured out how you can be on what seems like the top of a mountain and on the beach at the same time. Everything here seems perfect. You can't go wrong and the Marina is just at the bottom of the drive.
Came in on a cruise. It rained for most of the day but Bahamas was lovely apart from the roads that need repairing and a lot of buildings that have been empty since the hurricane otherwise the island is nice. The service in most of the shops was impeccable. Would definitely go back for a longer stay
