Great location, three on-site restaurants. Captains Table is breakfast and maybe brunch. Not sure of the hours on the Flying Fish but they do have live music on Sunday evening. Also, on property is Bones which has a swim up bar. Sabor restaurant has good food. All of the restaurants plus bones bar has a nice outdoor dining area. Lots of greenery, flowers, local birds, and lizards. There is a pool near Sabor and Bones On site guest laundry, $1.25 per machine. We had a king room overlooking the bay and the pool by Bones Bar. Room is very spacious with a sink, microwave, a few glasses, and a few plates. The refrigerator is bigger than most US hotels offer. Everything is quite clean. They offer a free water shuttle to Tiano Beach. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful. Room service is prompt and thorough. Easy walk to Port Lucaya Marketplace. 25 years since our last visit, and it seems that restaurants in the market place are the most thriving businesses. What used to be nightly entertainment at the Marketplace Square is now hit and miss, at least in early May. Hit and miss with stores being open. The straw markets at the market place seem to be dictated by cruise ships coming and going, UNESCO is one of the premier scuba operators in Freeport. Make sure to confirm before hauling your scuba gear halfway around the world. May 2023, no scuba diving for at least another month, glass bottom boat tours only go out if they have 10 or more signed up. If back in Freeport, would definitely stay at the Pelican Bay Hotel again.

This hotel is just lovely. It’s clean, the beds are comfortable, and bedroom is separate from the living area. There’s a small boat that takes you to the beach and a huge kids pool. There’s shade, beach chairs and nice restaurant for food. The hotel is an easy walk to the Port Lucaya Marketplace that has many restaurants and bars. Unexco offers a dolphin tour that is great for families. We also loved Gold Rock Beach, Paradise Cove (great snorkeling). For excellent food go to Stoned Crab and Pier 1. Both restaurants are in demand so reservations needed. (Pier 1 has shark feedings!)

The hotel was very clean and the location was excellent. It is within walking distance to the Lucayan Marketplace where you will find your typical vendors working hard to make a living. The property has 3 pools and all of them offer a nice view of the harbor in the background. Only negative was the breakfast. It has a nice offering but the staff do not keep things running well. Out of Coffee, out of Eggs, out out of silverware, out of cups. For $20 per person, you should not have to wait on all these things. After day 2, we decided to eat at the local market so management is really losing business. .The people here are similar to the great people of Bahamas. I’ve travelled to many Caribbean nations and islands and I’ve never met nicer, more polite people.

The hotel is great, location is excellent. You can walk next door to aport Lucaya and several restaurants with excellent food onsite, Sabor, Flying Fish. The staff is always friendly. We atayed for two weeks, Dec through Jan 4 and we went back earlier this month, I am staying there again this weekend for a girl's trip and will be back for spring break in a couple of months with my family. The only suggestion I would make is to bring flip flops to wear in the room and dont wear white socks on the floor, they vet really dirty.

Pelican Bay is truly the friendliest hotel! Here are some tips to make your stay the very best: 1- upgrade to the Deluxe stateroom it’s a little more per night but we’ll worth it! King bed so comfy, excellent kitchenette with microwave and fridge/freezer, amazing balcony with gorgeous sunsets, brand new bathroom with wall in shower and a full living room to lounge and watch TV. 2- breakfast is from 6:30 am to 10am and they do restock items as needed but you may have to wait a little which is fine because then your getting the fresh eggs and bacon so who can complain? 3- coffee/tea hot chocolate orange juice milk yogurts bacon scrambled eggs potatoes with onions and green peppers white and brown toast pancakes and French toast I mean it’s a loaded hot breakfast so I recommend getting this in your plan and starting the day off well fed! 4- the staff are so accommodating and friendly and the property is clean and well maintained 5- there are 3 pools on site with different vibes The main pool has a beautiful marina view abd is close to Sabor restaurant and then the quiet pool looks out into the canal and lastly the infinity pool offers a swim up bar at Bones restaurant but opens at 3 pm only .. drinks are bone cold and made with fresh ingredients Restaurants on-site are Sabor we had burgers and fries that were delicious and also Bones where we tried their South African Bo Otis curry meat pie and the Australian chicken and mushroom pie both were delish in a super flaky pie high crust!!! The hotel cleans the room every other day but you can request fresh towels anytime which was fine by us! This hotel is close walking distance to port Lucaya where there is many shops cafe and restaurants! Oh and ice cream shop too You can also stock up on wine spirits beers and pre-made pins coladas and mojitos in a can! We used the ice bucket on our room and brought ice cold drinks poolside 6- they have bikes to rent for $10 half day to explore different spots 7- there is no ocean swimming here but they have a ferry boat that bring your up Taino beach for free on an hourly schedule there and back it takes 10 minutes to get there 8-Taino beach is accessed through the Marlin which seems to be a condo apartment type complex but you get to use all their amenities they have a beautiful beach with beach hut umbrellas and chairs to use for free and a massive lazy River type pool with a water slide and free wifi on site 8- taxis can be called anytime avd you can pre negotiate how much it will be to go anywhere 9- grocery stores have everything you need and prices are fairly decent like Dasani 1.5L water is $1.49usd We love this vacation spot and there are many ways to make it the best if you ask the right questions and treat everyone with respect! The pink sunrises have been a highlight! Stay beautiful Freeport ❤️ We will be back! Camirand/Hings

Pelican Bay Hotel is an exceptional find in the Freeport area. We got a spacious, clean and majestic room for a reasonable price that was incomparable from those found back in the states. The front office personnel was friendly and accommodating, and the grounds were immaculate. A quiet setting offers two restaurants, which our favorite was Bones, a laid back Bahamian bar that typifies the life-style of the islands. Set next to the Lacaya Market Place, which is rebounding from the triple whammy of the recent hurricane, Covid, and the shutdown of the cruise industry, the Pelican offers a free water taxi on an hourly basis to an exceptional beach nearby. Will return again if the opportunity arises.

Our group of 7 booked 4 rooms. Check in was fast and easy, and we enjoyed a fre welcome drink at the pool and waterside Sabor restaurant and bar. From there a free ferry runs hourly (til 11 on) to and from Taino Beach. The suites were spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. There’s a Nespresso and a Mr Coffee in the kitchenette and a free liter of water. The beds were very comfortable and the hot water was practically instantaneous. A closet safe, iron/ironing board, and bathroom amenities include bar soap, shower gel, skin lotion, shampoo and conditioner. The flat screen TV was uncomplicated, but paled in comparison with the spectacular view. Do not miss the Bahama bread at the breakfast buffet! The staff is exceedingly friendly and welcoming. Situated next to the Port Lucaya Marketplace Definitely will return! Highly recommend.

The complex and rooms are nice. They are doing some construction work but it didn't disrupt my stay. The Lucaya Bay shopping complex is about 3 blocks away and has a few restaurants. Prices there are on the expensive side but you can deal with it for a few meals. While the staff at the hotel is good, food is expensive. You will be greeted by a completely empty refrigerator when you arrive at your room. How expensive can it be to put a few cold drinks in it for all patrons for the year? The answer is that is much less than the profits they would earn if I were to book just one 4 day stay, which won't be happening. To add insult to injury, the price of cold drinks in the cooler in the lobby is marked up 200%. In other words, they sell a 12oz can for $3. I wonder if there is a connection between these 2 policies. So if you are arriving in the evening, better come with your own food until you can get a lay of the land to avoid being held hostage by the hotel. A typical breakfast of eggs and bacon or sausage costs $20 in their restaurant. Better to skip them and walk down to the Zorba restaurant a few blocks away and pay $8 or $9. The room was nice but I had a problem with the AC. It cooled the room well but even if you set it at the highest temperature of 78 F, you would still be too cold. I had to unplug it in order to sleep. I also had an issue with the bed. They seem to use some awful smelling disinfectant on the mattress or in washing the linen that made it difficult to sleep. Maybe they can try a lavender smelling disinfectant instead. While the staff is good, apparently the management hasn't figured out that generosity (especially with small, relatively inexpensive things) goes a long way towards ensuring customer satisfaction. They better figure it out before other hotels come online in the area.
