Island Resort and Golf Club is a very small "resort" in Freeport. There is no longer a golf club since it was destroyed by the hurricanes in 2004. The area around the hotel is very isolated and run down due to the hurricanes and they have never built it back up again. The resort touts they are within walking distance... More

This was not top of the line accommodations but it surely was not the worse. You make the vacation how you'll like it. The staff was very helpful and nice. Be sure to go to the orientation with Michael and he'll fill you in on everything you need to know and will go out of his way to make your... More

NO Security, NOT A RESORT, ONE pool fits 10 and it would be FULL. Pay for electricity. A/C not working; refrigerator HOT; no ice machine on premises; no golf course to be seen; We checked in at 4 pm and checked out at 5 pm!

Our group of 7 spent a week in February 2015 at Island Resort and would go back in a minute. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. Small resort so you get to know everyone. Loved the heated pool, spacious rooms with 2 full baths. I agree with others on shopping at Sawyers instead of Solomons - much better. But... More

We spent two weeks here in January 2015. Elevator broken. Heated pool allowed to get cold until guests complained. No dogs allowed, yet barked every night. They did move us to first floor after first week as I am handicapped, and it was difficult to do stairs. Showers in second unit better than first week.

#1 rent a car. There's very little within walking distance and nothing I would want to walk with kids. #2 shop at the Sawyer's save a lot not butlers and not Solomon's where the bartender Michael will tell you to go. #3 the pool is heated =) we went the first week of Nov, the weather was in the 80's... To start out, we were the only people in the resort. The pool and grounds were well maintained!!!! The staff couldn't have been better or more personable!!! The room was very spacious for the 2 of us. The only complaints we had was the master bathroom the shower didn't work and the one window wouldn't shut. The front office was... More

Our first impression was that the place would be a dump. We had seen the beach resorts and this was a complete opposite. The property is surrounded with a barbed wire fence. There is security fencing on the windows. Nothing seems nearby. The office is a small room with a desk near the pool. The business center is an old-time... More
