We just returned from our first sandals experience for our honeymoon and it was a mixed review. Nicola and Jamal were very great butlers. Definitely worth it for the help with booking restaurant reservations , help with reserving seats on the beach with coolers and the private shuttle to and from the airport. Every single person working at the restaurant was so friendly and helpful. The private island is amazing and was our favorite part of the trip. The second best part was the private beach dinner , the food and service was wonderful! The downside was we did pay for a room with a beach view with an attached pool and there was no view because we had the room at the end and the view was blocked by all the cabanas roofs. It was our honeymoon and our top reason for booking was to have that view from our pool/room so we could hang out there . The other beach view with a pool rooms did have the lovely view so the price was worth it for them, I feel as if the room we had should have said partial view and not have been charged the same amount since you had no view. The only other downfall for our trip was the lovers rock sunset cruise that our butler booked us . It was described as a romantic and relaxing catamaran and that was not our experience. The boat stopped at the hotel down the beach and a high school graduation trip group got on the boat. Very quickly they were drunk, spilling their drinks on people and we were counting down the minutes to get off . If I was 18 it would have been a blast but it was not what we wanted for our honeymoon and not what was described. We felt it was a big waste of our money and time. Overall the wonderful workers and the beautiful beaches made it a good trip. If it weren’t for the room being a let down ( not matching the website description) and the terrible excursion it would have been a great trip.

This was our third time at this resort. First 1999, last 2006. The second time was at the Butler level when they were piloting the program; this time Club level. Overall We got what we came for: a relaxing vacation where we could mindfully unplug and turn down our IQs for a few days. We returned rested and recharged. Very social day and night, but in bed pretty early. When we wanted to be left alone, we were left alone. When we wanted to socialize, we found like-minded folks. If we’d wanted a party this time, we would have easily found one. Lovely, well-managed, clean resort. Nice refresh of the facilities. Online Check-In We checked in online. This resulted in the smoothest check-in that I have ever experienced at Sandals. Upon arrival, we confirmed the last four digits of a credit card and that was it. Super slick. Airport Transfer Very smooth. Lovely new terminal since we last visited, and Sandals has a storefront inside the airport. The driver is an independent operator. Our driver loaded and unloaded a lot of heavy bags (Sandals require cruise wear (no tuxes!) for men in the evenings, no rules for people who aren't men). Most people both ways stiffed the driver. You might plan to keep $20 at hand. Concierge We were a mess when we arrived – the first vacation since November 2019, stressed out from the trip (I’m immune compromised, and the interpretations of “wearing a mask” on our plane varied wildly), and I lost my glasses immediately upon arrival, and we were just high maintenance as you can possibly be. The concierge, Q (she told us to call her that and I forgot to write down her real name, which did, in fairness, begin with “Q”), was awesome – so welcoming, so understanding. She was clearly having a busy day and carved out the time to get us settled, which involved some running around (I promised to meet her at Coconut Grove and went to Calico instead because she said a name with C and I stopped listening). She’s like an obstetrician, only this particular baby that she delivered safely into the world of Sandals weighs about 200 pounds. Facilities Newly renovated this year. Rooms are very clean and well appointed – elegant, not ostentatious. More modern than last time. Lovely. We were in a swim-up room on the resort side of the West Bay Block. The coolest pool in the place at the end of the day. We didn’t use the pool every day, but when we did it was a real treat. The property is spotlessly clean and well maintained - Everywhere you look, people are cleaning and maintaining the hard and soft scape. Special mention for Nadine E. Her job involves keeping the railings between the resort and the beach clean of salt spray. We saw her from the spot where we spent most of our days on the beach. She was (unobtrusively) relentless at what looked like a bit of a thankless job. It’s one of those tasks that you would only notice if someone stopped doing it. She may take breaks, but I never saw it. Restaurants Breakfast Lovely buffet at both Kanoo and Tesoro, with fresh omelet/egg dishes prepared to order. Every omelet I had was well executed – including those stuffed with fillings, and the Julia Child I asked for one day. Special mention to Makell – she’s a great cook and a serious professional with a brilliant future ahead of her. Great team player, and cool under pressure. Raymond (who seems to work in each restaurant from dawn to dusk) supports the servers clearing dishes, bringing hot drinks, etc. He moves with what Thomas Keller would describe as a sense of urgency – smooth and swift, with his head on a swivel. If I was in management at Sandals, I would trust Raymond with any task that he was willing to take on. The Sweets’n’Tings food truck is the only place at the resort to get an espresso drink. They use UHT milk which gives it an odd taste, but the proportions in my cortado were perfect the morning of August 5. No cream for coffee generally. Great selection of teas. Lunch Both Calico and (on the Sandals private island) Aralia House serve a delicious lunch, in shade, with a breeze. Aralia House is the more ambitious of the two. Every bite is delicious at both. Aralia House is worth the trip (even if one doesn’t want to line up for the first ferry to get a shady spot on the island). The Coco Queen food truck has delicious Fisk Tacos (grilled and deep fried), as well as conch salad and conch fritters. Highly recommended – these are the things we ate most during the week. Drinks Most of the hard liquor on offer is rotgut. You’ve never heard of most of the brands that they serve at the outdoor bars. The swim-up bar is a party/frat house/good ol' boy vibe. Never once saw a fight break out though, so have at it! Very slow and surly service as a rule, which I can understand at the swim-up bars (less so at the bar in Coconut Grove). There is a better selection at the indoor bars and some lovely cocktails. Nice selection of wines by the bottle at the indoor restaurants. Lots of debate over how to pronounce “Aix”. I vote for “Yacks” with a soft Y. There is a lovely cocktail selection at the bar between Butch’s and La Plume. It is actually a pretty great scene – comparable to a real bar in the world, and most folks there are up for socializing. The entire team at that bar really hustles, and Marvin is a standout. Reads the room perfectly, and knows how to get the crowd going. Covid has clearly taken the air out of the piano bar – it used to be the beating heart of the resort many evenings (although I must say, not hearing Piano Man eight times a night is a bit of a relief). Nonetheless, the singer there was very talented, and Valentino keeps the smaller crowd engaged and has great energy. And he knows how to make a drink! Dinner Food at Butch’s, Tesoro, and La Plume is continental. I would say very (perhaps very very) good hotel food. The T-Bone at Butch’s was beautifully charred. Otherwise, most steaks (though perfectly medium rare to order) were on the gray side. Lovely greens and salads at all times. Excellent escargot at La Plume. Very smooth and attentive service at all three restaurants. Jon runs a tight ship at Butch’s. Mikey is a standout (she says she’s new at fine dining but you wouldn’t know it – she could work anywhere). And look: there’s Raymond again! Gordon’s on the pier was a real treat – a nice breeze, lovely sunset. Service appropriately laid back but attentive. “Dinner on the Pier” Dinner on the Pier is actually dinner on the beach, in one of several cabanas. Wayyyyy to hot until sunset. Offering this at 6 PM in summer is crazy. And calling it “on the pier” is misleading. Our server (his name begins with an O – Oswald?) was great – we had pre-ordered a bottle of champagne, and he brought it out ice old to us on the actual pier – ended up being a lovely night. Beach We reserved a cabana for $150 for several days – well worth the money, with excellent shade. The servers were all great – Racquel (Racuel?) was the standout. Where on earth did she find coconut water for my favorite drink? There are not enough shady spots for everyone. I think a few more of those thatched-roofed round things would be in order. Island Worth a visit – we went once, and lots of people seem to go every day. Nicely appointed; seems to be a shaded spot (in various configurations) for everyone who wants one. Lovely pool, nice restaurant. Overall: as advertised. Activities Lots of fund scheduled activities during the day – a great team of activity staff. Saturday they were in and around the pool getting wet, dancing, and showing guests how to have a great time. Dennilee was a great MC for a bunch of events including TV theme song trivia. But follow her rules or you’ll have to give an impromptu dance recital! DJ Morada is truly inspired – he spun a great mix throughout the day, with something for everybody. Lots of deep tracks from popular and dance music across genres. You know how sometimes you just have to jump on Spotify and play a song you haven’t thought of in years (or a new song that you can’t get enough of every day)? DJ Morada did that all day, every day while we were there. In conclusion No reductions in star count for any of the quibbles above. Lots of folks there work really hard in the heat so we can relax. I have some pretty classy problems. Highly recommended if you’re for the beach.

Private villa with pool, close to road noise not ambient as described in brochure . 2 nd trip with same type of room except location but still had thumpers on the second floor both times, no sound proofing between floors. Pub bar tender worst I have seen in a sandals. If you want a truly quite vacation better to stay in a private rotunda with pool at another resort.

Is this resort worth the money compared to other sandals? First off, when we arrived at the Sandals odd, check in thing, at the airport, very small, very not welcoming. Our room came with a private car to the resort? Really. We were told it would take 45 minutes for a car to return? And the shuttle would be faster. We waited for the car, took 45 mins, and had a horrible start already. We did arrive at the resort, and the butler guest check was odd, small. Our room was nice, but set up in an odd. but the in room bar was not set up correctly and never was for our entire stay. The food was 50/50, some good, some not great. The two food trucks were the top performers and great fish tacos. The 👎 bad, BAR service was horrible, out of stuff, juices gone bad at the bar, out of this out of that, the brands that are used are well brand, or worse. The drink of the day or signature drinks are pre-made in a tub? Who knows what's in that. NO TIPPING? Hmmmmmmmm. Apparently, you will get better service? It's odd to see some nasty looking lady, guest standing be hind the bar or standing on the bar acting loud and disgusting, games at the loud pool, flip cup, beer drinking contests? It was hard to get a proper made drink, either don't know how, or don't care or just out of stuff. Also some of the staff are very rude. Some of the staff will look away from you while talking or taking your order, and if you order, say a 2nd drink at some places, you won't get it. Also the jerk chicken on the island is baked with a sauce dumped on it, not good, which made me ill. So is this resort worth the money? NO better places to go.

We returned from our first Sandals experience and to say the least; were very disappointed. Upon arrival we were shown to our suite and then had to wait for nearly 2 hours for our luggage. We were given no information about the resort and left to our own devices. Unbeknown to us and without any consultation restaurants were booked at inconvenient times. Our suite was very dirty, to the point we had to have footwear on to keep our feet clean. The plug in the bathroom sink was broken and the door handle to the balcony came off upon first use. Our mini bar was not restocked on most days and was only done so when we chased our butler to get it done, furthermore the drinking glasses were never washed after use. We were provided with a mobile phone but had to chase for a charger 3 times before it being provided. The lamp shade above the bedside table shattered and I had to clean up the glass myself, and it took 24 hours before the very sharp remains were removed from the fitting and a new shade fitted, leaving me to make it safe as we were worried it could fall in the night. On 2 occasions we arrived at restaurants which had supposedly been booked by our butler, yet the venue had no booking for us, one managed to squeeze us in after a bit of hanging around and the second had to turn us away as they could not fit us in. On our last day our luggage was taken away and promised to be placed in our complementary room however, despite being told on numerous occasions it was 'on the way' it had in fact been dumped at the front of the resort with no luggage labels, therefore nobody knew who it belonged to and it meant we had to find it ourselves. Considering the cost of our holiday we feel hugely let down and consider the value for money to be very very poor.

I just returned from a 5 day Mom/daughter getaway. And I'm already wanting to plan my next trip back. The food was beyond 5 stars, the hotel is stunning and the entertainment staff made our trip! Food: Make sure to have breakfast at the French restaurant. Lunch - fish tacos at the food truck Dinner - wherever you go, get the lamb. It's beyond The resort itself is small, and always easy to get a seat by the pool or on the beach. But I do recommend a butler, because they take the hassle out of doing it yourself. Make sure to go over to the private island. The beach club there is super chic, and very relaxing. Such a different vibe from the main hotel. Our room was beautiful, and even though we weren't able to upgrade, we were ok with it. I do recommend bringing your own pillow, because they are super soft. And in all honesty, my only complaint is, the bed sucked. Now, for the entertainment. Probably the main reason you'd want to go back. The staff is unparalleled to anything I've ever seen or experienced at a resort. Usually you feel bothered, and I personally never take part in anything. However, from the moment we got there, they made everyone want to get involved. Dance classes, parties, and just the whole vibe. The nighttime shows were out of this world. A huge shoutout to Flavio, Wanda, Will & Giovani. You do not want to miss the fire show!!! We didn't leave the resort for any tours, but there is no shortage of things to do. Lots of people did pig island and swimming with the sharks, and seemed to love it. I heard its better to take a seaplane though. I will 100% be back at this resort. I'd recommend it to couples, friends, weddings, mom/daughter trips and even a girls getaway.

Sandals Royal Bahamian has several things that my wife and I enjoyed: - The private island is nice. You can have your privacy, enjoy the beach, drink and relax. - Some workers were very helpful. They gave us off-site restaurant locations. The staff at Butch’s Seafood gave us a private room on our anniversary because I did not have pants. That was nice of them. We could not thank them enough. - Maxine and Stephenie the message therapists are great at her jobs. - The location is prime. The sunsets are breathtaking (see pictures) and beach clear and relaxing. However there are some things that frustrated us: - We were supposed to have an ocean view room (see pictures). - There was only one (1) working hot tub in the pool area. - Most restaurants served bar food and there were no real restaurants that served authentic Bahamian food. The food was edible but not amazingly memorable. - Our room service food orders were incomplete most of the time. - Our room was never cleaned before 2 pm and some days they did not get to it until the late evening. - The Loyalty agents bug you constantly about booking your next vacation. I already said “no” twice and they kept calling at the most inconvenient times (e.g., 8 am). Who wakes up that early on vacation?

Another trip, another review. My wife and I travel to Sandals Royal Bahamian often, but I like to give a new review after every visit. If you look at my other reviews, you see we always have a great experience here. We booked the East Bay Beachfront Swim-up Butler Suite again because we absolutely loved it on our last visit. We were extra excited because the rooms were upgraded. We were picked up and taken to the resort by our driver, Keyno, in the Rolls Royce Ghost of course. He and Ricardo always make it a joyous ride. When we pulled up to the entrance, the most awesome Butler in the world, Zhaly, was there to greet us. We greeted each other with excitement like we just saw each other like friends and family do. We were breezed through registration, given our phone, and taken to our room. There were upgrades to the room but it did not look renovated. New flooring, furniture, and paint made the room look good, but there was nothing done to the bathroom area. Work on that sandals. All of the restaurants are still the same and still awesome. Still waiting on that third food truck that is still being shown on the website. Zhaly is teamed with Butlers Basil (pronounced Bazzle) and Jay and what a great team they are. They are always professional, courteous and detail oriented. We have had the honor, privilege, and pleasure of having Zhaly on our trips, but this was our first time with Basil and Jay. They each have their own style and put their own personal touches on every aspect of our trip. At most of the restaurants you need need reservations, but they were made for us by our Butlers. Please, Please, Please listen to this next comment. Each restaurant has dress codes that are either resort formal or resort casual. Abide by the dress code please. Sandals put great effort into making it an awesome experience for these restaurants that require formal dress. Don't plead ignorance or try to break the rules when so many others put in the effort to follow the rules. Don't be that person. You will be turned away and get side eye from other guest. One concern that I have with this resort is the tug of war with beach and pool chairs between the Butler guest and those who do not have Butler service. I can see both sides, but Sandals have to be the one to fix this. Butlers get up early and reserve chairs for their guest which leave limited chairs for other guest. But I have sat there and watched reserved seats go unused all day. That's where it's unfair to other guest. I think there's plenty of room for more chairs, but that's a concern that Sandals need to handle. We didn't go to the offshore island because guest were lining up at the pier an hour before the boat's first trip. Even though the boat came frequently, the lines were never ending. We weren't disappointed because were are returning this July. The evenings are filled with activities to suit all individual likings. The weather was perfect all week with surprisingly zero rain. The only complaint I have was thinking the East Bay Butler Suites were completely renovated like the ones in the West Bay. I'm hoping in the off-season Sandals can work on that. On a personal note. I was raised in the city, but the majority of my family lived in the county. The only time I saw them was major holidays and summers. I was excited every time I went to see them and sad when it was time to leave. This is how I feel about Sandals, the Island of Nassau, and all of the beautiful individuals there. Nassau is my home. Zhaly, Basil, Angela, Welton, Leonardo, Chad and everyone else there are my family. I have a huge family. My friends and travel buddies can't understand why it's hard for us to try other places, but I'll explain but quoting a flight attendant. When the plane touch down in Nassau, the flight attendant always says if this is your first time to the island, Welcome to Nassau. If this is not your first time, Welcome Home.

Overall the stay was very good. The food was great. Just make sure you make your reservations early in your stay. And if you want to it multiple times at a restaurant then you will need to make your reservation early. The grounds are fantastic. Room service was great. Drinks were a hit and miss depending on which bartender was making your drink. Sandals need to invest in better bartenders. We went to many of them and I can only recall three that made a decent drink. Beaches were clean but we really did not spend that much time on the beach. Getting a pool chair was ok if you got up early around 6 AM to get your spot. As for the beach they looked like their spots were already claimed by 6 AM. One thing they do need is more pool floats. For the East pool they need some music. I would suggest easy listing Island music. Being Diamond Members, One thing that did not happen was our private check in. Also no one did anything for our anniversary; we were a little disappointed in that. The staff was very friendly. Club Sandals was Johnny on the spot and very fast and efficient.
