Traveled to the Westin with my husband, 4yr old, and parents. We travel to the Caribbean usually 2x a year and consider ourselves to have very basic standards. We had pretty high hope this place would be great as they are usually booked far in advance. Pros- Great and beautiful location! Rooms are nice and spacious Staff at Lemongrass were very nice and friendly Janice at the pool bar was so kind Cons- Most of the staff we came across were not friendly and did not seem remotely happy to be at their job. If you ask for something (towels or a drink) you just get a look, then handed what you asked for, and after saying thank you they either wouldn’t say anything or struggle to say yep or you’re welcome. Our fire alarm went off, you aren’t able to disable it yourself. We had to call 3 times before someone came. It took about 45min for someone to come turn it off. Breakfast- they only have one sit down restaurant and you have to get the buffet. Which is mediocre. Pool- the main pool is nice but the smaller pools are dirty and not maintained. We got yelled at for my daughter jumping in the pool (with my husband catching her). Cleaning service- you get your room cleaned only one time per week. The one time we had it done our counters and floor were not cleaned, and our garbage was left outside our door. We ended up taking it to the garbage can ourselves. (Not a huge deal but considering the price you pay would expect a little more) An FYI- If your room is one of the buildings higher up, it takes a long time to get to the pool/beach. They offer shuttles but they take a long time to come. I’d recommend renting a car in general, but we used it a lot to drive to and from our room to the beach/pool. Overall, knowing the island is pricey it’s still not worth the $800/night. We really don’t have high service expectations and this was far below even average.…
We are Starwood/Marriott Vacation Club members. This is our 3 stay here at the Westin. We love to come here whenever we can. This resort is wonderful and a perfect place to come enjoy the island’s beauty and relax. The hotel’s staff are well trained, friendly and accommodating. There are Westin Taxi’s on the property to take you wherever you need to go. Lots of cool restaurants and bars to visit in nearby Cruz Bay at night and world class beaches in the day.
Somehow we scored 3 nights here after a last minute change of plans. We stayed in one of the units on the hill across the street from the beach. The room was perfect for 2 people. I would say 1 child would be ok on the sofa bed - 2 might be a stretch. At first we were a little overwhelmed at how spread out the property was, but the golf cart shuttles are plentiful and quickly arrive after a phone call. The prices at the pool bar are obscene! 2 drinks and conch fritters were $60! And not that good. Bring your own to the pool/beach. However renting a beach chair was very easy and comparable at $10 per day or I think she said $50 for a week. We are used to renting villas which include these items, so we were happy to have these to go to the remote beaches. I react very badly to the sandflies, so I cannot sit on the sand, or will be itching the whole vacation. The best part of the villas on the hill is the shared pool area. We hung out there a couple of nights and no one else was there - it was amazing. The location is close to town - it will cost you $28 for a couple to go to town via taxi (roundtrip + tip), and parking is around $20 - so up to you if you want to face that hassle - we did both - and honestly, the extra $10 is well worth it in my eyes. We did have a jeep - took the car ferry from St Thomas, as we were returning there for another week stay - and I highly recommend this in order to go out and explore the beaches without spending a fortune in taxi fares.…
The Westin exceeded all our expectations for the entire family with its beautiful and well kept grounds, beach, tennis courts and playground. We booked two condos through a realtor (stjohncondos.com) and both units were perfect, the agent was very responsive and easy to work with, and all went seamlessly. The resort was excellently designed and with a well-stocked on-site convenience store with take out food and two restaurants right on the water's edge that had great ambiance and tasty food. And the island's restaurants, shopping, beaches and the National Park all made for a wonderful vacation. Hoping to go back in 2024!

Had a great time on the night kayaking experience. Jackson the night kayaking guide is a true homie and really knowledgable about the wildlife and stars! A+ would go again the fish are big and they jump!
We really enjoyed our week here. We booked last minute and just wanted a simple beach vacation. It really fit that bill. We booked a studio ocean front but got a two bdrm by the pool with a view of the bay in the background. It turned out to be ideal. The view was still lovely and the extra space was perfect. It felt like a fully equipped luxury condo, really couldn’t ask for more from the accommodations. Food is a bit of a challenge, the two restaurants and cafe onsite are serviceable but not great. We also did some shopping at the grocery store. There were three nice gas grills right outside the condo and we even did some grilling. So definitely not the all you can eat food experience you find in Jamaica, but it was Ok. St John itself is beautiful, we did a lot of the popular beaches etc and enjoyed it all.…
I purchased a time share at this resort in 2019. My trip in 2020 was canceled because of COVID and the resort was closed through 2021. I was finally able to book usage in December 2022. I purchased in the newly renovated waterfront unit but when I got there I was given a unit on the hill side, a 30 minute walk to the pool and beach area. The room was run down. Poor water pressure, general disrepair and not in good shape overall. Food at the restaurant on site was overpriced and of mediocre quality. The nachos consisted of state chips and cheese sauce served cold. The island is beautiful with pristine beaches and crystalline water. I am a very unhappy owner.
This could easily be a 4 or 4 1/2 star resort. The staff was, for the most part, very friendly and helpful. But there were little things that tripped them up, such as some of the public bathrooms did not have soap in the dispensers, at the breakfast place the staff pushes a cart with large bins of dirty dishes across the patio when we are eating (every time!). We had to try several times to get the room serviced and to get some soap! There was a heated conversation between what appeared to be a boss and a subordinate taking place in a public area. In the small locker room in the gym, not all the locks worked (dead batteries, I suspect). One morning all 3 TVs in out 2 BR unit came on, and we heard that others experienced that. We unplugged ours. Little things like that. But the staff is great, there is always someone in a golf cart to drive you wherever in the resort, which is large, and the pool staff was great. Would definitely go back but hope they can fix the little things.…
Booked a room here for one night very last minute due to an issue with our rental condo. They were at full occupancy but luckily had one room available. Unfortunately it was nearly $600 for a single night but we needed somewhere to stay. We arrived to check in at 11am and was told they would call when the room was ready no later than 4pm, which was fine as we had plans on the east end of the island anyway. However, they didn’t call to let us know our room was ready until 5:30 with no explanation as to why it wasn’t ready on time. Once we picked up the room key they sent a golf cart to help us to our villa which was at the top of a very steep hill in building 24. The room itself was very nicely appointed with comfortable beds and a large bathtub in the master suite. We only used 1 of the 3 bedrooms, but the others looked nice as well. Our golf cart driver David Charles was absolutely amazing! After taking us to our room he helped bring our bags in and when I asked him for a dinner recommendation he not only gave me one but called the restaurant (Morgan’s Mangos) and got us a last minute reservation and drove us back down to our rental car so we could make it over there in time! Then when we got back from dinner he drove us back up the hill from our Jeep. He honestly made our short stay there great!…
