We stayed for a week in one of the downstairs rooms. It wasn't the greatest view like some of the other rooms, but boy did we enjoy the comfy screened porch. The mosquitoes are fierce when out of the resort areas. It was a great place to store our stuff. The kitchen was well appointed and Phyllis took great care...

I had booked the HGH only 2 months or so prior to our trip. When comparing other places we felt this would be our best option as this was our last stop on out island hopping vacation. If you haven't noticed St John is expensive. We arrived around noon and having read the other reviews felt we were in great...

The one apple was left by a previous guest, so it was left there since it was still fresh. If guest request fruits, several fruits are selected and placed in the refrigerator, except the bananas, which would turn black. The bed has a built in topper and is only 2.5 years old. It seems to be a firm mattress. Each...

Phyllis Hall is a great hostess. Full of information and providing a clean and neat atmosphere. The stocked refrig. is great--fixed my breakfast the first day. When a microwave and toaster didn't work, she replaced the same day with new. A real bargain.

Thank you for your kind remarks. Lots of work went into getting all the suites ready at tip top shape for this season. Sounds like it was worth the investment. Phyllis Hall

Hillcrest is the best value on St John. The units are older but have been updated and clean. The owner is very friendly. The fridge is well stocked with breakfast essentials and a wide assortment of libations at no extra charge. A short walk to downtown. We recommend Hillcrest.

We had read reviews before coming, and were pleasantly surprised by this guest house. Phyllis was very welcoming, and put us in the apartment where she grew up, and explained that other rooms had been added as money for additions became available. The space was more than we needed; a living room with table and chairs, couch, other seating and...

Phylis is very nice and hospitable. The room is clean and bright. The kitchen is small if you intend to do much cooking. There is no stove or oven. We planned on doing much of our own cooking and found it to difficult to create dinners. Hot plates are what you will be using in a very small space. We...

i was very unsatisfied by another very expensive hotel for the value on St John Island. And i had a good surprise with this guest house : not luxery, but confortable and fair rate compared to some other hotels on the island. Also closed to the city and a beautiful view on the bay. To be improved ; the wifi...

Phyllis is sweet and very hospitable, and this is a great location if you don't mind the hill, but unfortunately the place is showing signs of neglect and is overpriced. We stayed in the Caribbean Ocean View Suite. The refrigerator was rusty, the furniture was missing handles and the mattress was the worst one I've ever encountered in a hotel...

The Caribbean Ocean View Suite Mattress was updated last year with a BRAND NEW MATTRESS, so not sure what the issue was. Guest sometimes do some minor damage and I may not catch it. The cost of living on St. John determines the price of the suites. Included in the cost is the complimentary menu of bacon, eggs, muffins, international...

This place had great hospitality and the rooms were very nice. The outside deck had an amazing view overlooking the island. It was a short downhill walk to the night life. Negative side is that it is difficult to get a taxi to pick you up here. We had to walk down the hill to find one. Great stay!
