WE were on St. Thomas from mid Jan. till mid Feb. We are owners at the new Limetree Beach club, but could not get booked in fir our 2nd week, so I went to airbnb and found this wonderful place. We rented a huge 1BR from Sabrina. GREAT Communications, easy check in . We were given the door code to our room and, other than a housekeeping person, we hardly saw anyone all week. Bellavista was very easy to find...... That's saying something for St. Thomas. Our beautiful view was looking down at Frenchman's Cove and Frenchman's Reef and a beautiful sunset every evening. We'd be happy to stay here again. Thanks Sabrina. Bob & Jean

Absolutely perfect place to stay, charming, full of character, amazingly fantastic view over town and of the harbor. Owners are extremely accommodating, friendly, fun, quiet, helpful, kind. We absolutely loved this place! Easy 5mins walk into town (but it's steep, but good to walk off dinner/lunch/drinks). Town has plenty of eating-options even during off-season. Easy to take a taxi or the safari-bus from town. Coming 'home' after a day at the beach to dip in the beautiful pool and just gaze over town and onto the harbor. Wow, you coudn't end a day better than that, and we did it every single day (4 days)! Absolutely the best place.

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at the Bellavista. The accommodations were beautiful. There is a fabulous view of the harbor and town of Charlotte Amalie. It is a short walk to restaurants, bars and shopping. It is less than a 10 minute taxi ride to Magens Bay, one of the best Beaches in the world. The property was gated and it was very safe. The pool was fun to hang out in. Scott had a ton of advice on where to eat, fun bars and tours to go on. He was the best host out of anywhere I have traveled. He was personal, fun to chat with and had great stories. We plan on visiting again for the great accommodations, the beautiful views, and to hang out with Scoot again!!!

Prior to the Covid pandemic, my wife and I booked the luxury Bambooshay room at the Bellavista Bed & Breakfast for 4 nights starting April 25, 2020 with a $670 deposit. Unfortunately, prior to our reservation, the pandemic broke out, airlines cancelled flights and the island was locked down to tourists. Upon calling to cancel the reservation, I was told that a deposit refund was not possible, but a $670 credit voucher could be used against a future stay prior to April 20, 2022. This sounded like a reasonable option. But, when I later tried to book the same room for early in 2022, I was told that the Bellavista Bed & Breakfast is no longer available as it was, and that there were two options available that the credit voucher could be used for. However, the new Bellavista Poolside Suite, and the Bellavista Cottage, although looking clean and in good shape, are not the luxury lodgings that my wife and I were expecting for this trip. When asked again for a deposit refund, Scott, the manager, denied our request. My wife and I are very disappointed, because travel to the Virgin Islands is not cheap, and to do so without staying at a luxury establishment is not our intention. We recognize that the pandemic has had a negative impact upon tourism in general, but I truly believe, that in good faith, Scott should have been willing to refund our deposit.

Wow! My best friends and I traveled to St. Thomas last weekend, and we decided to stay at Bellavista, which was the best decision we could have ever made! We were celebrating our graduation, and Scott made this trip incredible and memorable. He and his family were very welcoming and kind, and they made sure we had an excellent stay. I cannot recommend Bellavista enough!! We had an incredible view of the island, and the pool area was so beautiful. We also stayed at the poolside suite, which was newly renovated and stunning. In short, if you're in St. Thomas, Bellavista is a must stay!

This has been an unbelievably beautiful experience! This place is just so pretty and Scott is the most down to earth, fun and most genuine guy we’ve met in a long time. He’s made our stay in St. Thomas one we will never forget and will be forever grateful for. He’s been our host, concierge, chauffeur, tour guide, drinking partner, beach buddy, and now, a new friend! Great laughs and great memories. Thank you so much Scott Knowles, and thank you Linda, our personal chef, tour guide, drinking buddy, beach buddy and new friend! We can’t wait to visit again!!

Good Night and look no further! Bella Vista is nestled Down Town Charlotte in the Historical District. Beautiful Harbor Views and Caribbean vibes and sounds. Walking distance to Town, Restaurants, shopping and easy transportation to Beaches and everything you want to experience while visiting. We live here and this is our “go to” when we want a Stay Cation. The Owners are laid back, have beautiful clean rooms and a comfortable vibe.

Though we are new to the idea of staying at bnbs we have stayed in enough places to know a great find when we come across one. Honeymooning in USVI and needing a night to stay in St. Thomas at close to the last minute Wendy was very quick to respond to emails and accommodate. Also, her information on the bnb location was helpful in directing the taxi driver from the airport. Even when leaving Wendy waited with us for the taxi and made sure the driver knew where to take us. We stayed in the J’ouvert Gardens room and loved the little touches like removing all of the decorative pillows before we went to sleep, placing flowers on the sleeping pillows, and of course bug spray for those evening excursions into town and/or laying by the pool watching Charlotte Amalie light up. Wendy joked that she needed to reread her books on how to run a successful bnb but I think that she should write her own book! The only negative thing about our experience is that we weren't able to stay longer!

We stayed at Bellavista for 5 nights this January and were blown away at how truly perfect it was. This has to be one of the best kept secrets in St. Thomas as you will not find better service anywhere else. We spent time at both the Marriott and Bolongo Bay while we visited St. Thomas, and neither of them even come close to Bellavista in regards to cleanliness, food, and especially service. After staying here, we are convinced that there is no need to ever stay anywhere else on St. Thomas.

Why?

CLEANLINESS: I am a stickler when it comes to clean rooms and bathrooms and you will not be disappointed here. The bedrooms, bathrooms, and common areas are all spotless. You will feel as comfortable lounging on the couches, swimming in the pool, sitting at the table eating your gourmet breakfast, or relaxing in your bedroom as if you were at home. (Except here, you don't have to do the dishes or clean up after yourself!) Wendy cleans your guest room every day and turns down your bed every night. Her added touch of placing fresh flowers on your pillows and even taking the time to fold the toilet paper sheet into a "triangle" lets you know she has great attention to detail.

FOOD: I kept reading the great reviews about the food here and wondering if it could really be that good. Well, I assure you, everyone is spot on. The breakfasts are absolutely delicious and we found ourselves looking forward to them and even arranging our plans around them each day of our stay. Wendy offers up a different two-course breakfast (plus a fresh fruit smoothie, water, and coffee) every morning. The first course is a nice serving of fresh fruit carefully sliced and beautifully arranged. The second hot course included delights ranging from sour cream waffles, to French toast, to various soufflé’s and quiches along with ham, sausage, and bacon. Wendy will also cater to any dietary need, so no need to worry that you will go hungry if you have special needs. She also stocks your in-room fridge with complimentary bottled water and there is also plenty of juice and soda in the main kitchen if you ever want any as well.

SERVICE: Hands down, this place has the BEST service of all hotels on the island. Wendy makes you feel as if it is her pleasure to help you. She will arrange taxi's for you, make dinner reservations for you, even research and set up excursions for you. Whatever you want to do, she goes out of her way to help you have the best experience possible. She knows the various ferry schedules and will help you arrange your trip around them if needed. Some of the other larger so-called "luxury" hotels on the island could learn a lot from Wendy. We were so surprised at the level of service that we received from some hotels that charged 3 to 4 times as much as Bellavista. None of them made us feel as welcome as Wendy.

LOCATION: Bellavista sits on a hilltop above the downtown so the views are breathtaking. It's also fun to see the cruise ships dock every morning and leave every night. Although it only takes 5 minutes to walk down to town and hit the shops and cafes, the walk back up the steep hill is strenuous and definitely a workout. I wouldn't recommend the walk back up for small children or the elderly as you will definitely get winded if you're not used to hiking. Take a cab back unless you're up for the challenge.

If you're not looking to stay at a mega resort or on the beach, this is the only place that should be on your list! You'll see that after one stay, you too will want to tell the world about how great it was at Bellavista!

Hi! Do you rent rooms for 1 night? Also, how far of a walk to town?
Answer from Steelers36
Oakville, Canada94 contributions35 helpful votes
Trip Advisor sent me an email asking if I might answer this. You could answer it yourself if you went to the Bellavista website. There is a 3-night minimum for two rooms and a 7-night minimum for the two premium rooms, but Wendy will consider shorter stays, on shorter notice, if there is room in the calendar between bookings. Otherwise, I would say forget it. If you were a past guest, you might get in for less time if there was a gap in bookings, but I wouldn't count on it. As for the walk to town, that is downhill and it depends on where you mean in town and how fast you walk. Maybe 10 minutes or so to edge of town and 15 to middle. If you attempt to walk back up, it will take longer. Better to take a taxi.
