We booked 2 nights at Bunker Hill before we headed over to Frenchman's Cove. To be honest when we pulled up we were a little concerned as the area remains a "work in progress". The room was very clean and sizable for our family...we chilled out at the bar during the evenings and got to talk to the owners. Our breakfast view was fabulous!! It is a family run establishment and I love that fact. They make you feel at home when heading up for breakfast or coming back from a long day of sight seeing. I give this a great big YES!! Just know you will be climbing stairs...have fun!

We visited for an overnight before taking the ferry. The lobby is not at all attractive but the staff was helpful and cheery. Our room was up 3 flights of stairs, across the pool deck and down 2 more flights, so definitely a challenge for me who struggles with stairs as well as those with all our bags. Room was comfortable and clean and nice for island standards. AC in each room worked well. (If comparing room quality to US standards is in line with an older Days Inn). Windows looked at peeling stucco walls only about a foot or two away or the road. Pool area was nice and we enjoyed a swim on a hot day. Be aware that the tile is very slick around the pool. Perhaps the reason why we had to sign a disclaimer when we arrived? There are no railings or walls on lower stairs so young children will need hands held as they could suffer injury if they tumble off. The restaurant was a gem with tasty food and a beautiful view. Drinks (happy hour) were also tasty. We didn't have time for breakfast but heard it s complimentary. The hotel is buying up property around it to remove some of the blight of ruined homes from the storm that sit vacant so I am sure in a year it'll be a larger facility with even more rooms and the area around it will seem less sketchy. If you're looking for reasonable accommodations just past the shopping streets of downtown Charlotte Amalie, this is a reasonable option. It isn't upscale but is comfortable and clean with a nice restaurant to save you a cab ride. They can arrange a cab in a matter of minutes from the lobby. ( Be aware that cabbies can scam you. One charged us $5 per person to the ferry and THEN charged a per bag fee which ended up costing more than the people. Who knew, and this is why they get away with it.

Recently stayed at Bunker Hill to catch the next-day ferry to Tortola. As a solo traveler, safety, cleanliness and location rank highly on my selection criteria and Bunker Hill fit the bill. Just 2 blocks uphill from the main shopping district, quarter mile from the ferry terminal, and short cab ride from the airport, this is a perfect respite for those 'in transit'. Bunker has an on-site restaurant and bar with a great view of Charlotte Amalie Harbor as well as included breakfast to add to the convenience of staying here. The dipping pool was a great for cooling off after a days travel and the rooms were comfortably equipped to meet my needs. If climbing stairs with your luggage is a problem, this place isn't for you. I would absolutely stay here again when passing through St. Thomas.

We booked for just a quick one night stay after being reluctant because of mixed reviews on Expedia but the complimentary breakfast jolted us to book. We didn't regret it at all, only thing we regret was not eating at the on-site restaurant because the menu posted in room seems inviting. The property is obviously aged but somehow has an unexplainable charm to it and it's clean! We had the basic room which had a comfy double bed and necessary amenities. The breakfast was as expected but was even more pleasant because of the added warm hospitality from the southern lady. I'm sure the owners would want to keep some of the rustic charm but some areas would smile with a face lift. I honestly left feeling like a visited my Grandma's or childhood old house.

Great location and proximity, cool layered layout, comfortable rooms, darling staff, HIGHLY recommend eating at the restaurant here - we would have ordered everything on the menu if we could! Amazing flavors and delicious drinks too!
