Emerald Beach Resort, beloved for its beachfront setting and complimentary chairs, offers guests a mixed bag of experiences. While the prime location near the airport is praised for its stunning views and relaxed atmosphere, some guests have called out the resort for its dated rooms and inconsistent cleanliness. Reviewers frequently cite the friendly staff, yet service can be hit or miss, especially in the restaurant. Despite ongoing renovations contributing to the atmosphere, the value is often questioned due to overpriced services and lackluster amenities.

I double guessed myself 1,000 times before booking this hotel and even up until check in because of the bad reviews. I have to say. I am so glad I chose to stick with this hotel. I’ve had no issues with hot/cold water. The staff is extremely friendly. Some more than others. The interactions feel authentic and not scripted. (Which is why I dislike some more upscale hotels) The beach is beautiful. There is a pulse so you don’t feel too isolated from the world but is not at all overcrowded. One of my biggest worries was the proximity to the airport. I actually love seeing the planes take off. The intervals are not frequent and the noise is no more than a jet ski in the area and last 20 seconds. The views outside from every room is magnificent and peaceful. Be sure to carry cash for taxi rides if that is going to be your primary mode of transportation. The rooms are very clean. Are some things somewhat outdated. Sure. Does it bother me. Not one bit!! Nothing in my room looks or feels decrepit. The tv does not have many channels. Big deal! Who comes to the beach to watch tv the whole time. And if it’s that big of a deal to you. You can always bring an Apple TV or fire stick. WiFi has been very reliable. The food here is ok. That is one area of improvement in my opinion. The chef’s special was spot on and delicious. Everything else falls short of being good. But this is in line with most hotels I’ve stayed at in the Caribbean. All in all, I will be coming back. And I will be recommending to family and friends.

Lets start with the best part, its one of the cheapest resorts on St. Thomas and you get a beach front room for that price. Emerald Beach is nice. There's rocks going out for the first couple of feet but then just crystal clear water. Next the bar and restaurant service was great. Friendly bartenders doing their best to provide great service while dealing with the Governor's orders.

Now the not so good. They desperately need to run some tiki torches or spray some pesticides because they have a massive mosquito problem in the evening. It makes it hard to sit at the beach front bar at night. We were in building 4 and while the view from the balcony was fantastic, the view from the front door was of the hotels junkyard. Damaged jet skis, old building material, etc just piled up in plain view of guest rooms.

In the end, we are on a long trip to the USVI while working remotely and the low rates allowed us to spend some time on St. Thomas. We were able to enjoy our time here.

Should also note, if you enjoy watching plane spotting, this is the hotel for you. If you don't like the noise of jets, you might want to look elsewhere.

Rest assured they are no jet any time after 7PM And only a couple of planes during the days. The tiki torches do assist with the mosquitoes and it's an open air so hard to spray as we aren't allowed to use certain toxic chemicals on the beach. Be well.

Overall our experience here was wonderful. My husband and I booked a last minute trip for our anniversary (a month out) and because of the last minute there were not many hotels to choose from. I liked this one because it was the closest to the beach and the cost was only $170/night. I booked this one and read the reviews and was teetering on whether to cancel and rebook a later date at a different hotel and and glad we didn't. The hotel in general is very outdated, but the rooms were clean and comfortable and we had a great view from our balcony of Lindberg Beach. We did not spend anytime in our room (except to sleep and shower). The water in the room did not get "hot" but was comfortable enough for a shower, and the AC worked perfectly in our room. The beach itself was very clean, and lots of shells (which according to Customs at the airport you cannot take home with you and they will confiscate them). Everyone at the hotel was very friendly, welcoming and very helpful. There were plenty of chairs (not many umbrellas) at the beach, and the beach was clean. There is a lot of marijuana use and they will try to sell it to you, but we found that on every public beach we went to. The food at the bar and restaurant was very good as were the drinks ($8 each but the front desk gave us several B1G1 coupons to use and they were plenty strong enough) and the service was quick (remember you're on island time.) The hotel is literally a few miles from the airport and we were expecting the noise to be worse but the planes don't start coming in or out until after 7am and stop around 7pm and and it's not like they are every 5 minutes. We saw lot of complaints about the chickens and roosters at the hotel, but they are all over the island, and yes those roosters are noisy all day. We never had a problem getting a taxi as there were always about 6 of them outside the hotel entrance at all times and range from $7-$12 per person depending on where you are going, oh and the hotel does not regulate the cost of the taxi's so blaming them is worthless. There is not really any sea life on the beach so snorkeling is fruitless but we did find some star fish a little further out near the buoys. Overall we had a wonderful stay!

At a friend's recommendation, I made at Emerald Beach Resort. I'd seen the property years ago, but never stayed there. I was pleasantly surprised. The ambiance of the property is quaint and comfortable and the beach on Lindbergh Bay is clean and relaxing. Emerald Beach has all the full-service hotel amenities of larger resorts that charge twice the price. I look forward a longer stay there on the next visit to St Thomas.

This is not a four star hotel when you consider the basics — safety & cleanliness. Our room, #2107 on the ground floor, did not have a smoke detector, but there was a bracket for it. There was no threshold, just a half inch gap under the door that would allow easy access for all kinds of critters. In the bathroom the water was scalding hot at the sink, but we could not even get lukewarm water in the shower, and the bottom of the tub looked dirty. Also there was a lot of dirt build up on the frame around the mirrors in the bathroom. The sink counter had a large (1/4” x 12”) crack along the front edge and broke off when I bumped into it. At check out the staff took note of the issues, but did not offer an apology or any compensation until I asked for it - $50 refund. However, the positives are, friendly and helpful staff, a nice outdoor restaurant (good food), beach bar, and the breakfast / coffee shack was very good. The location to the airport is the best and we did not hear any airplanes at night. Also the beach, just steps from our room, was excellent for sunning and swimming. One other issue of concern, not for us but our friends, was the steps to the second and third floors when carrying your luggage. Overall, it appears management is not focused on the basics or properly maintaining the property.

After checking in your room you never reported the crack nor the missing smoke detector. The crack on the counter was reported to us after you had check out and we do room inspection daily. We do have luggage assist and anyone staying with us are always welcome to obtain this service at no charge. We do appreciate your business, The Management and the Entire Emerald Beach Resort Team does care a great deal about our guest's experience and we are continuously looking to improve in every area. Thank you for staying with us and we do hope to serve you in the near future.

! Been here for three days. First night no air condition. No internet. Second night they promised air conditioning but no success. We had to change rooms. Second and third night no internet. Was on hold for 20 minutes to find out the status of WiFi. Third night still no WiFi. Being on the beach, at $175 a night we thought that we would get room service and they would at least sweep the floors and give new towels. We asked about it and they said “we do not provide room service. So if you want to go to bed for three days you will have sand everywhere. Including in your bed for three days. There is no where to wash your feet coming from the beach. It was the most horrible place I have ever stayed in my life. At $175 a night and no room service and no internet. They should be sued for false advertising as they claim free high speed internet. We haven’t had internet for three days.

Hello, Your reservation was made for 1 night ONLY with a 3rd party booking, and you never addressed it at check in, and you decided to extend your stay for 2 more nights. The Housekeeping dept. came late in the afternoon as you extended your stay, and serviced your room as we can't service a room while the guests are inside their room. During Covid we do not service the room fully until your check out, we do replace towels. The WIFI router stopped working in your room and we had a tech support that came to your room within an hour. The router was replaced and no one ever reported any more issue with the WIFI afterwards. Your internet was working and we checked it ourselves several times. As soon as you arrived at the resort you started to shout at our front desk Team, and at the Manager on Duty and you used profanity, as your WIFI wasn't working. You stated that we will hear from you and that you would destroy our (RATING). We always threat our guests with respect and we do not appreciate the way you carried yourself and made a huge scene in the lobby and in our back office. We are here to serve the best we can and we did take care of your issue. There is in fact a hose outside the beach bar area where you can wash your feet. Your stay was so awful with us that you actually extended it by two more nights. Emerald Beach Resort Team

If you’re looking for luxury you can stay at other properties and spend over $500 a night but this place offers you great options for families, pet friendly or business trips. We spent 85 days total at this property and I have no complains. The housekeeping ladies are friendly but you have to tell them if you need something. The restaurant service is good but limited options in their menu for kids (No Hot-Dogs, Chicken Fingers or Mini Burgers). However, the distance between the airport is less than 5 minutes walking distance and 5 minutes to the main road. The main road offers you “Safary Busses” and for $1.00 you can’t get to downtown area in less than 10 minutes. The beautiful beach provides you the flexibility to enjoy the Virgin Islands without killing your budget. Enjoy your stay!

This is unquestionably the dirtiest, most unkept, and poorly constructed hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff don’t seem to even care about the state of this place. It is surrounded by abandon buildings which appears to be the near term fate of this hotel as well. If it breaks, no one repairs it. They do however provide a can of Raid in each room to kill the bugs.

Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else. There is no value to being close to the airport unless you want to hear the planes take off over head. Taxi service to the airport from this hotel costs the same as it would cost to travel from any number of hotels in and around Charlotte Amelia to the airport.

All rooms have a full ocean view. Each of the 4 buildings have three story's and private balconys. Building 1 and 2 are more direct beachfront. Rooms are a bit dated, but you dont spend that much time in a room at a place like this. Pool is nice, never crowded, beach is public and locals do come there, but the beach never feels crowded either. Jet ski rentals are available at resort too. It is 5 minutes from the airport and a taxi is $20 USD each way.
Beach is a little rocky the first 2 feet walking in, but perfect after that. Crystal clear turquoise water.

The location of the property is amazing. There were many bad reviews so we considered changing because of this. We had no issues. You get what you pay for so if you are looking for luxury then pay $800 per night elsewhere. No issues with cleaning, staff, room quality, water, or anything others have mentioned. Views from the balcony are amazing. Restaurant is a bit of a struggle for dinner because they were very slow. Solution: get drinks and food at the bar. Much quicker service with the exact same dining options.

My son and I stayed at the Emerald Beach Resort and loved our stay there. We did not rent a car but walked a lot. First to answer the question as to the hotel being all inclusive - I don't think it is unless it has changed in the past year. It has a restaurant, a snack bar and drinks bar and is right on the beach. It is a short walk from the airport but we opted to take the taxi for $8. I think the fare is $4 plus $2 for each suitcase. It was worth it as it is quite warm in July and the walk is bumpy and we were not familiar with the walk. We did walk to the marinas which took about 15 minutes. There is a grocery on the way and we walked there and took a taxi back to our hotel as it is hot and we were carrying groceries. We walked to Frenchtown and took the taxi back and then walked to downtown and again, took the taxi back. We wanted to walk for the exercise and to work off all the delicious food we ate. The walks were quite safe. Yes, there are some boarded up buildings as places are probably being renovated or boarded up for the season. The hotel has a place in the parking lot where taxis congregate and are ready to take customers. The basic rate seems to be $4 per person. We found the hotel to be more than adequate for us. Our room was clean and right on the beach as was the restaurant and bar. The beach to me was one of the finest (even better the famous Magens Bay Beach which charges a fee and is very crowded). Linberg Beach is beautiful, clean and not crowded. I'd stay at the Emerald Beach Resort again.
