I rarely write reviews but our restaurant experience at The Fred was far from noteworthy. The entire experience was exceptionally poor. Would not recommend. With a reservation for 4 people it took 15 minutes for a drink and 1.5 hours for an appetizer. After 1 hour and 45 minutes, one salad entree was served and another was served but not what was ordered. Two of the four people finished their entree while two people continued to wait. Finally gave up. Friends had commented on a similar experience but thought we would try.
Small rooms in main building, too pricey,TV with no channels, you need to have a Netflix or Hulu account in order to watch TV, upper deck pool was nasty, drinks were weak, no mini bar & rugs filthy in rooms.
Nestled in downtown Frederiksted, The Fred is truly an upscale property. It is so nice, well appointed and cleverly designed it is almost out of place. The food was well above average and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The pool and hot tub, both infinity, are works of art. The music was a little obnoxious from within the room but, get this, The Fred's 'quiet time' starts at 10pm. The music stops and almost all guests respect each other's right to peace and quiet. Our first night I thought we had made a big mistake and would have trouble sleeping but, by 10:30, you could hear a pin drop. VERY happy with The Fred and will stay there again.
We had dinner there Monday the 3rd. It started off with a great server "Cherry" she gave us extremely great service. She was great recommending dishes we asked about. They were all delicious. Cherry was one of the best servers we have had! The food was spot on delicious! Over all we had a great experience at Fred! We definitely recommend it!
Very nice guest room with comfy bed (The Rachel in the Love Shack). Service at the restaurant and around the pool was sometimes good and sometimes very very slow. My biggest compliant was how dirty the main pool and the upstairs pool with the lounge chairs. We asked several times when it was going to be cleaned and finally on Thursday (arrived prior Saturday) someone did scrub the sides and seat areas and pushed all the dirt to the center of the pool (sand, algae, etc.) but never vacuumed it out of the pool so it just ended up getting all dispursed around the pool again as soon as someone got it in. VACUUM the pool to clean it! That would actually work. And the restaurant didn't open until 8am and closed at 8pm. We were diving so we didn't have a place to get breakfast or…
