The Fred is centrally located on the West side of island. The vibe is fun, great pool/spa that is clean and enjoyable. The food is good, would like to see a little more on the night menu, but you cant go wrong with any of the food as it was all very well cooked and had great flavor. The beach is nice, even with the rock, you were able to have access to get in the water, you could just relax or snorkel and see the aquatic wildlife. Walking to town is easy and this opens up additional places to eat. If you just want a place to relax, do nothing, stay at the Fred. The GM Karen is great, she works hard and as a side note, is a great bar tender. The bar tender Ken is by far our favorite. He will make you specialty drinks that are fun and great tasting all well having some fun…
We really enjoyed our stay at the Fred and would recommend this hotel for couples. During our stay we had reserved the James room, which we appreciated the extra space. The balcony does face the parking lot with a view of the ocean, which was not favorable but we had no issues with disturbances. The bar staff is entertaining and knowledgeable, especially if you engage with them to establish a relationship. This is what made our stay memorable.
As soon as I stepped foot onto the property I knew it was going to be wonderful. The ladies at the front desk were a ray of sunshine to start the day. If I needed recommendations they were all to happy to help. The bar staff, Andrew and Ken were a delight and kept the drinks coming well mixed and served cold. Food at the restaurant was great for lunch, enjoying it poolside. Our room was cool every time we walked in. Loved the open concept showers. It was a plus having two balconies. All in all I loved the Fred and happily return when I find myself in the island again.
I was surprised all that was offered at the Fred. Water sports, spa and two pools. I particularly liked the upstairs pool with its lounge chairs overlooking the ocean. The food was great for brunch, lunch and dinner. Great location for snorkeling. Beautiful fish we’re often hiding in rocks close to shore. A wonderful place to stay and will be back
We stayed at The Fred for a week and enjoyed every minute. The restaurant, open to the public as well, served breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Each meal we had was excellent. The chef uses produce from the local farms and his own farm eggs. The whole red snapper is the best. Sushi is served upstairs on Saturday and Sunday - some of the best! If you stay here you won’t regret it. The staff is kind and courteous and works hard to make sure you have everything you need, The infinity pool and jacuzzi are wonderful and the massage at the Fred spa was one of the best I’ve had. And the view…right on the beach..looking out over the beautiful blues of the ocean. The Fred is not to be missed!
This hotel exceeded our expectations! Our room, the Frederik, overlooked the beautiful beach. It had comfortable chairs on the deck to enjoy our coffee in the morning and watch the doves in the overhead tree and the endless undulating waves. The dining- breakfast, lunch, and dinner were at tables right at the beach. The chef at The Fred surprised us with his creatively and consistently fresh eggs, vegetables, entrees, and salads. Apparently the eggs come from his farm along with the fresh fruit; the vegetables come from neighboring farms on the island. Our favorites were the whole snapper, the homemade French fries, and the salads. The drinks from the bar were well made and every morning coffee and water was provided by the infinity pool. The staff at The Fred were kind,…
I arrived alone and found a wonderful kind and helpful staff. The hotel's view is amazing from the bar/restaurant area to the pool areas. I also had an amazing massage! I loved just being at the resort with everything in reach. I also loved the minibar/fridge in the room with so many different items to eat and drink. The room was lovely and very comfortable. This is truly a beautiful place with lots to do or just to sit back and relax.
We loved the resort, and the staff were fantastic. But the resort sells day passes to locals and they ruined the experience. One night, the staff had to call the police to have an unruly day guess remove. The next night, the hotel staff had to remove another unruly day guest. These local guests show up late in the day, drink and smoke and completely take over the pool and hot tub. Our room was right near the pool, which we loved, until the day pass guests brought their own boom box to play in the hot tub, right outside our door. It seems like this resort needs to decide if they want to be a party resort for locals, or if they want to be a classy place for high end guests. They can’t be both, because nobody is happy that way.
We wish St Croix was closer we would go there 6x a year. Can't get enough of the morning rain (smells so fresh), to the afternoon sun. Beautiful Views from every part of the island. You have to see it to appreciate it.
This place wasn’t what we expected…it was FAR BETTER! You walk down the steps from the pool/bar area and now you are right ON the beach literally a few steps from the sea. That was EXACTLY what I had hoped The Fred would be and it didn’t disappoint. I can’t even describe how gorgeous the sunset view is right from the outdoor dining area and the upstairs patio area. A short walk to the pier area and restaurants in one direction and even more in the other direction. We never needed a car. We tried the restaurant at least once for a breakfast/lunch/dinner meal and all were very good. The live entertainment almost every day was fabulous and great Painkillers at the Bar. The room was small but very well appointed and great bedding. Loved the shared balcony in the front and back…
