After our scuba excursion we decided to stop by The Fred for some food and beverage. Super cute pool area, bar and the view was awesome. KAREN, the manager and TIM/FLO were behind the bar. AMAZING and SO FRIENDLY ! Many thanks to Karen who is the sweetest soul. Above and Beyond helpful. Food was great! So glad we stopped by!

Great vibe. Beautiful restoration. Perfect home base for our time on the island. The staff went out of their way to make our stay magical. We will recommend this spot to friends and family when they visit us on the island. The Fred played a role in the experience that led us to move to St. Croix.

The Fred is magical, its' pretty scenery, beach side location, pool and hot tub are all amazing, a little worn-down looking is all. Now for the life of me I can't figure out how it is a GHOST town, my goodness. Karen told me its slow season however I was here last year this month, and the place was PACKED especially on Sundays, next was surrounding businesses are currently packed as well, which is where we spent most of our time eating and socializing with actual other people, other places around Frederiksted. It also had no beach activities as listed, straight up lie, no equipment or signs out nothing, food was ok nothing special and my goodness overpriced. $15 for 5 small wings and no fries! The bartender was an absolute pleasure though he made us feel amazing and gave us such good advice on places, activities, people, we had a great time with him. Rooms were clean and nice as expected and the front desk shopping area was beautiful. Krystal was another amazing treat as she helped us with everything, if not for her above and beyond service and attention to other guests not just us, this review would be much worse. she seemed to enjoy helping and did it with a grace that is just hard to find. Even after watching her be scolded by a guest for something out of her control and instead of firing back she got the man to calm down and get on her side and won him over, it was amazing to watch. all while smiling, again thanks krystal!! I hope you see this you are amazing. now I am very inquisitive and asked all the workers basically what's up? why so dead? And I swear each and every one of them with the exception of 1 the chef I met said it was Karen and new owners trump ties reputation that has spread. and apparently karen, in 6 months has alienated promoters, charities, local organizations, businesses, people and more since they put her in charge, which further proves the gossip of a biased hotel with a specific clientele. Now did i hear these things once I started to venture and talk to people, yes to my disbelief, yes, they sure did confirm this seems to be the talk on island. much more was said but I do not want to get into it. So now I can see how and why the place is like this, I hope something changes for the better because my goodness last year this time was a great time, so it has such potential to be great again! see what i did there, I still loved my overall experience but had to give my honest opinion in hopes the right people see it. And rich people are usually affiliated with pretty much everyone so get over it i guess, go have fun.

We stayed at The Fred for 7 nights in July. We booked based upon reviews and we left with a glass-half-empty, glass-half-full feeling. We booked directly via phone reservation. This was a good experience. We elected for a queen bed, and shared balcony based upon price. We also arranged a shuttle from the airport based upon the ammenitites on their website. Upon arrival at the airport, no one was there to transfer us. The taxi arrived and it was a bit dirty. Eventually we were picked up at the airport and transferred to The Fred. Check in was smooth and the front desk attendant was kind and informative. She took us to our room, which was located in the main building of the hotel. The room was nice and clean, but there was no sink in the bathroom. It was built into the dresser of the bedroom. The balcony was shared at the end of the hall and included a view of the parking lot/dumpster and dead plants. No thank you. We were moved to another room upon our request and the new room was nice! We did pay an extra fee for the new room, which was fine. But, the resort fee increased from $160.80 to $220.80. Okay, but still not sure what this includes? We used the pool and hot tub, which seem standard. Beach chairs were not readily available and we saw no options for water sports (snorkeling, kayaking, etc.) After we moved to a larger room, the safe in our room did not work and we elected to re-use towels for much of our stay. We did have our room cleaned one day and towels were not refreshed and we were nearly out of TP. We had to go to the front desk to get towels and TP. Not a huge deal, but annoying. We also had roaches in our room and one night it rained heavily and water rushed through our windows, which were not sealed. We did dine at The Fred multiple times and the food was great! On the downside, we did pay $8 for 2 lemonades, which were essentially water with lemon. Otherwise, the food was good and the servers were kind. The bar service was good and Kyle was a star. A few other points to note are the gentleman cleaning around the pool. He was kind and worked hard each day. Also, the security guard present in the evening was very nice. Upon review of our invoice, we were charged $80 for airport transfers we only used once, so it should have been $40. We were told at checkout we would be credited. Still waiting... Also a $3.00 mini bar charge, which we definitely didn't use. Still waiting on a refund after multiple attempts. In summary, the views couldn't be better, the food was tasty, the bar service was good, but the overcharges with lack of response left a bad feeling.

My fiancée and I stayed at The Fred for a long weekend over Memorial Day and loved our time there! The Fred is a beautiful beachfront property with a sizable pool, hot tub, and bar. The property is kept very clean and employees are constantly maintaining the plants, pool area, chairs, and beachfront. The hotel is also gated and has security, which is comforting as the area around the hotel is not very populated at night. The hotel staff is attentive, accommodating, and friendly and routinely checked in with us throughout our stay. Our room was large, clean, and very comfortable with AC - we also enjoyed sitting on the balcony overlooking the ocean right outside our door. The Fred is great if you are looking to spend your day relaxing while looking at the beautiful scenery and there are a few bars and restaurants within walking distance as well - we enjoyed walking to Beach Side Cafe, 69 and Polly's for breakfast. The hotel is also a short walk to a well-maintained beachfront path and huge pier which is really nice as there is not much room to walk along the beach in front of the hotel as it's very rocky. Although Frederiksted is technically a "town," it is a very quiet part of the island though there are a few restaurants and bars within walking distance but it is very quiet at night and does not have nearly as much nightlife or shops that are found in Christiansted. If you're primarily looking for a relaxing vacation, lounging by the pool or beach, you will love The Fred. If you are looking to explore a bit more, I definitely recommend renting a car (we did) as taxis are not readily available - The Fred also has free parking for hotel guests right outside the hotel! Overall we loved our time at The Fred and would absolutely stay again!

The Fred is centrally located on the West side of island. The vibe is fun, great pool/spa that is clean and enjoyable. The food is good, would like to see a little more on the night menu, but you cant go wrong with any of the food as it was all very well cooked and had great flavor. The beach is nice, even with the rock, you were able to have access to get in the water, you could just relax or snorkel and see the aquatic wildlife. Walking to town is easy and this opens up additional places to eat. If you just want a place to relax, do nothing, stay at the Fred. The GM Karen is great, she works hard and as a side note, is a great bar tender. The bar tender Ken is by far our favorite. He will make you specialty drinks that are fun and great tasting all well having some fun conversations. The bar helpers are great, the ladies that run the office gift shop are great as well. If you want an intimate small resort, this is the place for you!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Fred and would recommend this hotel for couples. During our stay we had reserved the James room, which we appreciated the extra space. The balcony does face the parking lot with a view of the ocean, which was not favorable but we had no issues with disturbances. The bar staff is entertaining and knowledgeable, especially if you engage with them to establish a relationship. This is what made our stay memorable.

As soon as I stepped foot onto the property I knew it was going to be wonderful. The ladies at the front desk were a ray of sunshine to start the day. If I needed recommendations they were all to happy to help. The bar staff, Andrew and Ken were a delight and kept the drinks coming well mixed and served cold. Food at the restaurant was great for lunch, enjoying it poolside. Our room was cool every time we walked in. Loved the open concept showers. It was a plus having two balconies. All in all I loved the Fred and happily return when I find myself in the island again.
