Many menu items frequently not available - it would be a good idea to just have a chalk board to indicate what is available. Many times you only discover that after the order is in. We've been here quite a few times during this visit and experienced having to reorder, but the other night we simply had to go elsewhere because 3 of the orders were not available. Also no tequila for two of the cocktails. Francesca, a new server, was a sweetheart, but we had to leave.
Great lcoation with huge potential for being an outstanding palce to staybut...they have some problems to solve. Shout out to Crystal! She's what keeps the place running! Our first night was absolutely scary. The hotel buildings with the rooms are not close to the check in and restaurant area. We were in bulding B and just about the only guests there. There were also no ouside lights, so my daughter and I walked from the dark parking lot and used our cellphone flashlights to find the room. The room was quite spacious but just sort of surface cleaned. There is no room phone so keep that cellphone handy! There is a beautifu; patio with an ocean view but the light to light it up at night is laying on the ground. Some of the sockets in the room were also pulled ou tof the wall. The beach is a mess. Rocky and full of dead plants. The pool was completely deserted most of the time and we enjoyed it! Beach towels are only available at the front desk. There are no chairs at the beach wnatsover. There is a great old tennis court that would make a perfect pickleball court. The show at night is excellent and the MC is outstanding. Waitress service is pretty nonexistant and it's hard to get to the bar when the show is going on. Food was average. Staff was friendly but there just doesn't seem to be enough of them. Sort of sad to see a place like this falling apart. We can only hope for better days in their future. …
Knowing that this property is on a pretty casual island and understanding the logistical limitations of resorts in the hurricane belt, I researched in several locations for past guest reviews. The Palms was exactly as I expected: solid accommodation and amenities but certainly not luxury. Previous comments on service speed at the restaurant may have been provided by guests not familiar with Island Time. Grace must be given for that. Pros: Great pool, on-site restaurant/bar, genuinely friendly and accommodating staff, large, clean rooms, modern bathroom/shower, patio overlooking the beach and ocean—just steps away from the waves, good location for island exploring. One of the most comfortable hotel beds EVER. Dependable and effective a/c (also unusual on an island). Positive staff attitude cannot be emphasized enough. Nearly everyone we encountered was genuinely concerned with providing great service with a smile. Post-pandemic, hospitality staffing is challenging, but somehow The Palms has hired the best. A+ to Zarah, Mike, Juicy, Wendy and Yvette! On Sundays everyone should be going to the restaurant for a great breakfast and the bottomless mimosas. Outstanding restaurant view, too. Cons: This is the windy side of the island. We found we preferred the Frederiksted side for beaches and snorkeling. Side note: we had an issue with an amenity while visiting. Property management was unresponsive during our stay and upon return home. On-site staff did their best. Ultimately, Expedia stepped in and made this right. The End. …
Terrible service all around. expect to wait hours for food, several menu items unavailable all week, bar closed at 9 randomly, TV didn’t work, balcony door didn’t lock. “laundry service” is a washer/dryer covered in rust that put holes in all of our clothes. Staff offered no solution and simply stated the manager was “off island” Foot wash from beach looked like it’s been broken for years so naturally the pool had plenty of sand and debris. Beach covered in sea weed, ocean rocky with strong currents. They do offer good entertainment and the food when delivered is quality. Consider this place for a long night out, but definitely don’t book your vacation here.
We spend a lot of time in STX and have been hopeful that new management would improve things at The Palms. Unfortunately, it hasn’t happened yet. Restaurant/bar service continues to be disappointingly inattentive and food is only mediocre. The fire dancers are always amazing!! But with so many great restaurant options in STX it’s hard to imagine coming back.
We tried to have dinner one night and then drinks while the band played another night. The service was the worst I have ever experienced anywhere, between non-existent and insulting. The first night, one of the guests took care of us, calling herself “assistant bartender.” If not for her, I doubt we would ever have been served. They were out of many menu items. The night we had drinks, we waited a really long time to be served and then were told she couldn’t make either of the drinks on the specials board, that she couldn’t make a margarita. I asked if there was something she could make. She didn’t offer any suggestions but said whatever else was on the menu then left us without taking an order, waiting a really long time again. On the plus side, there was an amazing show with 5 or 6 people doing various, exciting actions with flames. The band was good.…
We have stayed here before twice and loved it. This time we came only for breakfast. We arrived 10 minutes before breakfast was over, and had a great waitress. We both had a delicious breakfast with a stunning view.
I truly enjoyed spending 6 relaxing days here. The hotel isn't the best but it was amazing for certain reasons. The first reason is nestled right on the beach giving you full privacy. Second there is a natural rock pool that allows you to float all day in crystal clear water. Third no one hassled me to come and spend more money at the resort. The food was open but there was no pressure. I rented a car so I traveled around with ease and there is a food center nearby to get all the food. This trip is more for friends, couples and solo. If you want to spend more you will get more but you will get serenity and perfection in my opinion here.
Quiet, peaceful and very relaxing. Accommodations are clean and comfortable with outstanding views. Meals are served on time by respectful staff. Very affordable. Close proximity to all the wonderful things to see and do on this jewel of the carribiean 😊
Sitting here in the lobby of "The Palms" waiting to check out. Overall it was a wonderful 3 day stay. Upon arrival, I was a little disappointed because we always stayed at big luxury resorts, and this was a little smaller and tucked away. But after the first day, I'm truly appreciative of the home feel the staff gives, like family. Everything is laid back, if you looking for a crazy, off-the-wall experience this place is definitely not for you. If you want a place for reflection, serenity, and blissful peace. Please come here. My husband and I really connected (conversation wise) something we never did at the big resorts. The beach is private, pool area clean, and quiet. I had a cruzan confusion drink and can I tell you "WOW" Breakfast- the steak and eggs are like butter, omelet fluffy please get!! It's not all-inclusive, but everything is reasonably priced, and good. Dinner-Alfredo w shrimp delicious. This resort is not "How Stella got her groove", but it's definitely where Terry McMillan wrote the book. Couples, over 30 crowd, or looking for reflection place. "The Palms" should be pick. Hope to see you when I return.…
