The ocean view from the room was amazing! I had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday and felt safe the entire time. The services and food were top-notch and I had to give written commendations to the front desk lobby, Mermaid Restaurant Team, Fritz, Martin, and CJ. I can't express how awesome our experience was! I have traveled all over the globe from Australia, Dubai, Spain, France, Italy and the Caribbean and the quality of service I received was 5 stars. I have booked a return trip and have sent several business associates, co-workers, colleagues, friends, and family pictures and videos along with postings from the websites of my dynamic trip!
I stayed at the Buccaneer 3 times this year. Got sick the last 2 times from the MOLD in the carpet in main building and mold in the air conditioners. The staff was nice enough to give me a new room, but mold was still present in the new room. I brought 5 colleagues with me(their first time) to stay, and each of them complained about the mold, some complained about insects(cockroaches) in the rooms, and out dated bathrooms. I was sooo embarrassed for recommending this hotel. I’ve stayed at the Buccaneer each time I’ve visited St. Croix within the last year (3). Got sick from the mold the last 2 times. The first time I was placed in a mediocre room with outdated amenities. I will NEVER stay at the Buccaneer Hotel again. The hotel has great staff, great food, and beautiful views, but it’s not worth the money or the risk of getting sick by mold. My opinion, but take your chances.…
I was very happy with my long-term stay at the Buccaneer for work. The food was good, staff was friendly and attentive and worked with our schedules and restrictions, and everything we needed was taken care of. Besides that, the beaches and location was beautiful with opportunities for walking, snorkeling, and recreation along the water.
The property is nice, but a bit dated. The grounds are well kept, with al old sugar mill on the property and a nice beach. The biggest disappointment was the service. As many mentioned before, we've traveled during the off-season, plus during a pandemic, which means overall fewer guests than usual. There seemed to be plenty of staff, but not very interested in doing work. My husband went to the concierge desk couple times to ask for water. Staff was sitting around with their feet up and literally told him to wait. To wait for what? Their break to be over? Mermaid restaurant is just terrible. Such a waste of a great location. We had breakfast included with our room rate, but waiting 15 min for a waiter just to come to our table was not worth it. I'd rather not have breakfast or coffee at all, just not to endure this horrible ignorance. There were plenty of waiters for whom it was acceptable to make guests wait 15 min to bring coffee. And this is with an automatic 18% service charge. Would not stay here again. Too expensive for an ok property with terrible service.…
Enjoyed our 9 day stay, great location and room was nice. Hotel was trying to make it work, but with one restaurant only and limited service/food options, was not ideal. Obviously its during covid, so we expected some of this, just expected a bit more for the $500+/night.
