Spectacular ocean views, breath taking sunsets every night, diving right off the beach, charming staff, delicious food. We will come every year! Shyra, Kyana and Kristen made us feel so welcome and treated us like family every single day. It honestly never felt like a resort it felt like a relaxing sanctuary.
Just saying I love the Carambola. At present it is a mixed bag. St. Croix was severely damaged by two back to back Cat 5 hurricanes in the fall of 2017. FEMA and construction workers lived in the habitable portions of the Carambola in 2018-19. As reconstruction commenced covid hit. It has been a long road back. Apparently the property is a franchise and not directly managed by Marriott/Bonvoy? I do not know what percentage of their rooms have been remodeled. We estimated 60 guests during our stay. Our room was in building 14, right on the beach, and the interior of our room was very nice. The exterior of the building needs work. All the outside and beach furniture has been replace and the grounds were beautiful. The main dining room/covered or open air on the patio, had just opened for dinner a few days before we arrived. It was lovely and our meal was great. The menu was a little limited but presentation and quality was excellent. The bar/covered or patio was serving and we had a good experience there. Our rate included included a full breakfast, served buffet, which was very good. The food service personnel were just terrific. Several of our wait staff were on their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd day but everyone was trying hard. It seemed much of the bar wait staff were also very new but trying hard. The management in the food service was area was very good and working hard to train. We did not use the exercise room, I was told that it needed work. The spa was not yet open. The pool was lovely. Water aerobic and yoga were offered but did not materialized. Simple things to fix: the only ice is in the bar and you have to take a walk to get it. Front desk has the only phone and it is not always answered. Reception/front desk are not always on point. It almost seems that they are demoralized with the challenge of the resort being advertised as 5 star Bonvoy and only able to deliver at a 3.5 level. If the customer pays full price then the resort needs to deliver full service. If they can't deliver let people know and modify the rate. I'm cheering for the management team, they do need to meet Bonvoy standards. Looking forward to my next visit. …
I was here at the end of February with my husband and we were very disappointed with our stay here. The resort has the potential to be great but the customer service was poor, I never saw anyone clean or sanitize pool and the front desk staff was not welcoming. Unfortunately I did not know they were doing renovations but that did not bother us other than the fact that my room had not been done yet. THINGS THAT WERE NOT GOOD: - the only resort main bathroom by the pool was filthy both times I visited - our room need a thorough deep cleaning - cushions on patio needed cleaning or to be replaced - safe in room didn't work and no one came to repair it even after telling front office staff - the front office staff, other than Lizbeth Joseph, needs customer service training. They don't speak when you enter, not helpful with information, and one of them seemed outwardly unhappy to be there. - main pool furniture should be replaced. - only restaurant at resort open (during dinner) needs more staff to help service customers during evening hours - it took an hour for someone to assist with getting luggage to lobby for our departure to airport. Glad we called well in advance - we missed a dinner reservation one evening because the front office staff wrote down our request for a cab but did not actually set it up. We waited about 15 minutes then I finally went into the office and the guy there saw it in the log but noticed it had NOT been scheduled. He was helpful and tried to find someone to take us. THINGS THAT WERE OK OR GOOD: - As mentioned above, Lizbeth Joseph was welcoming and friendly upon our arrival. Very helpful and what you would expect in the main office/lobby of a resort. We only had interactions with her during our arrival and departure. -Jisstte Ceclerio who works in the restaurant during breakfast was awesome!! She was the highlight of breakfast each morning. Great smile, good energy, almost like a friend. - all transportation drivers were friendly, knowledgeable and dependable. - a guy who worked in the front office one evening that tried to find us transportation after whoever was on duty earlier dropped the ball. - small beach access area -awesome views Overall the resort has the potential to be nice. After the renovations, customer service training and more staff to help, this could be a good place to stay in St. Croix.…
Outstanding new restaurant, professional and friendly server and staff. Ambiance was the best. Fresh ideas for the menu. The manager David and crew were on point and knew the menu offerings and made great suggestions based on our conversations. I cannot recall the servers name but she was great. We appreciated the small talk and her knowledge. Thank you Carambola for showing that St. Croix can complete with the best. Very refreshing.
First of all the only thing great about this resort is the fact that it’s on a beach. I booked this trip for my best friend’s birthday. First thing we noticed is the room that I booked through the Marriott app wasn’t the room that we stayed in. We I arrived the staff was very rude and not helpful at all. Once we got to our room we were overcome by the smell of mold. I went into the bathroom to find mold coming through the wall that was clearly painted over. The entire villa was dirty. We had used soap and shampoo in our showers. We asked for a different room. Staff said no. We arrived at night so all we wanted was food and sleep. The restaurant on the resort had horrible service. We waited over two hours for our food and the food was over cooked and the staff were beyond rude. I called Marriott to complain. The told me to speak to the manager. I went to the front desk the following day. I showed the manager all of the pics that I had taken of our disgusting room, she didn’t care. I would like a full refund. …
Keiana D is one of the best waitresses I’ve ever met she was super attentive to my needs I couldn’t ask for a experience. She really stood out with hogs helpful she was to every individual in the dining room I absolutely love her.
Shyra and her team accommodated my group of nine on short notice. They were fantastic all the way round. Shyra was so personable and funny, making our experience extremely enjoyable. She was an honorary member of our party by the end of dinner. The food was delicious and we enjoyed getting to meet the chef. Isabelle, our waitress, was so friendly and helpful. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!
shyra was amazing. She made our trip awesome. I don’t know about that. The food was excellent and the service was perfect. the atmosphere was lovely and I enjoyed every minute of being here. best location on the island
Shyra made our stay absolutely amazing. She was accommodating and made us feel right at home. Shyra came over to our table and personally impacted our meal, Isabelle was our server and she was just the icing on the cake. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we recommend this facility! These two were the dynamic duo!!
Overall we enjoyed ourselves the property is beautiful the rooms are roomy and we had a renovated room so nice. The restaurants however are still lacking food took three hours and we have a 2 year old with us, so that wasnt the best experience
