I’m a bit overdue in writing my review of our most recent stay at Somerset (we were there for 10 blissful days in June). Not due to neglect, just due to trying to find the right words to express how amazing our most recent experience at Somerset was! 💙 This was our 14th trip to TCI, 2nd stay at Somerset, & from the moment we stepped foot onto the property, it felt like we were coming HOME! We were immediately welcomed like family by JOHNSON, who helped us with our luggage, & had a big smile & hugs for us, & then JON at the front desk, who checked us in. So wonderful to see familiar faces from our last visit! We were greeted with rum punch (fruit punch for my 14 y/o son), & refreshing towels. HOME AWAY FROM HOME: We booked the same unit that we stayed in last year - the 2 bedroom penthouse unit in the Stirling building (403). This condo unit is what vacation dreams are made of! 🤩 (I wrote a very lengthy, detailed review last year with all of the specifics so I don’t want to be repetitive here; please read my previous Somerset review!). The highlight (for us) of this unit is the private rooftop area, complete with jacuzzi, multiple seating (& dining) areas, & SPECTACULAR 360 views of the entire island. We spent so much time up here, especially in the evenings….stargazing, eating dinner, watching fireworks, hanging out together in the bean bag chairs, laughing, soaking in the jacuzzi, & making so many great memories. 🥰 Both bedrooms are gorgeous, comfortable, large, & have private balconies. Plenty of closet space (& hangers!). Each has a full bathroom with tub & separate shower. Comfy robe & soft slippers provided as well! Kitchen is extremely well-appointed with luxury appliances (even a grill on the deck!) & every accessory you could need (glassware, flatware, plates, utensils, etc). Washing machine & dryer are so convenient (laundry soap provided)! Pack light & throw a load of clothes in the machine in the evenings - super handy! Water is provided by the gallon (very nice amenity!). We brought reusable, insulated water bottles with us, so we could refill them & take with us to the beach or pool. (You can always ask housekeeping for extra waters if, like us, you are extra-thirsty! The sun in TCI is no joke! 😅). Coffee & tea is stocked in the room, as are creamers in the fridge. Our housekeeper, JACQUELINE, (who took care of our room last year as well) is the best of the best! Not only did she keep our room spotless, but she made sure we were well-stocked with water, coffees, toiletries, laundry soap, etc. She was always so friendly, & she is such a joy! Somerset also has a nightly turn-down service. 😴 WATER SPORTS: Somerset’s beach area & pools are stunning! What really sets them apart, from other resorts we’ve stayed at, is the service! AJ is one of the most outgoing, friendliest people we’ve had the pleasure of meeting. He genuinely cares about the guests & making their stays as relaxing & pleasurable as possible. COLIN, LOXLEY, & ANDRE also took good care of us! They help set up chairs for you, grab you a towel or cold bottle of water, help you with the water sports equipment, chat with you, etc. We always felt like we were in great hands. (And speaking of towels, there were always plenty available at all times of the day!) We enjoyed taking out the clear bottom kayaks a few times! It’s relaxing to glide along the coastline, seeing Grace Bay from a different perspective. My son & I also snorkeled quite a bit. Somerset isn’t near a reef, so fish-viewing is a bit limited, but we were not disappointed! Some of our favorites were the sting rays, a conch, & lots of baby peacock flounders. (If you love snorkeling (like me), head to Coral Gardens or Smith’s Reef!) SAFETY: We always felt safe at Somerset, & they clearly care about their guests’ safety & security. Every evening, a security guard arrives & takes over the post at the beach attendants’ station. He patrols the property throughout the night as well. The property is also gated, so anyone driving onto the property has to go through the front gate, which can be opened with your room keycard or by someone at the front desk who has a clear sight line to the gate. SOMERSET PERKS: We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast that was included with our stay, but I wish there were more options (included are eggs, meat, toast, juice, coffee/tea, & table-shared plates of fruit & pastries). Other TCI resorts of the same caliber/price point we have stayed at include a nice breakfast buffet & made-to-order items. Service at breakfast was always outstanding & friendly! - The Manager’s Party is on Monday nights from 5:30-6:30p. Such a fun time, great to meet & socialize with staff & other guests! They have music, complimentary beer, wine, rum (or fruit) punch, plus appetizers such as coconut shrimp, conch fritters, & veggie spring rolls. - Tuesday night is the Beach BBQ (from 6:30-10p; $65 adults, $35 kids). It is all you can eat with a cash bar. DJ really gets the crowd going, with music, dancing & games (limbo, anyone??) & there is a fire eater/breather who engages with the audience. 🔥 The staff really works hard to make this a great night for guests! - A private, romantic dinner on the beach can also be arranged by the on-site restaurant, Barbetta. We saw several couples doing this, & the staff does a great job setting up the table with soft lighting & decorations! - The Kids Club, run by Miss Sharon, is highly rated! She plans lots of fun activities for the kids, including s’mores-making by the beach & movie nights on the lawn by the townhomes section, complete with popcorn machine! - The two on-site restaurants (Barbetta House, where breakfast is served, & Barbetta by the Beach, right next to the pool) offer lots of options! (The fish tacos at the poolside location are amazing! Best fish tacos we’ve ever had!!). Food & drink service is also available at the beach & pool. - Also worth mentioning is the cute gift shop located in the front office! Well-stocked with snacks, clothes, sunscreen, & nice gift items, including locally-made goodies! We got a Somerset-branded Corkcicle bottle & a couple pairs of TCI-made earrings! GOING THE EXTRA MILE: The staff at Somerset is top-notch! This is really what sets them apart, compared to other TCI resorts we have stayed at. Everyone is friendly & outgoing, quick to greet you with a smile & a “hello,” always making guests feel welcome. A few people (other than those I previously mentioned) who made our stay extra special ~ STEVONYA in reservations helped us with our booking this year & worked with me on this trip to secure our booking for next year as well. GIOVANNI from maintenance/electrical helped us with a few minor issues with our room safe, & he remembered us (& our son) from last year. We met FOSTER (front office manager) at the Manager’s Party our first night there, & he was a pleasure to talk to & run into throughout our stay. THE COUNTDOWN: We are already counting down the days until we return to TCI, & our Somerset home. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if this trip was going leave us feeling a little disappointed, as the bar was set pretty high last year. But Somerset came through again, & this stay was just as amazing as last year’s! If anything, it was more special because we felt like we were “coming home” - seeing old friends & familiar faces again. 🩵

Hotel's Favorite
Last month, our family of 3 returned to our favorite place on earth (TCI of course!) for what would be our 13th visit. We’ve stayed at multiple resorts over the years, but this was our first time staying at the Somerset, & to say we were blown away by it would be a vast understatement! For this trip, we decided to split our stay between another resort (for a few days), then Somerset (for a week). It was my husband & my 25th anniversary so we wanted to try something a little different, & I discovered the 2 bedroom penthouse (in the Sterling building) by fluke online. It looked intriguing, with its rooftop terrace (complete with private jacuzzi, outdoor shower, & seating areas). I thought it would be the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary! (Spoiler alert - It was even BETTER than we expected!) CHECK-IN: We arrived well ahead of check-in time, since we had to check out at our other resort at 11a. The Somerset property is secured by a gate, which will open with your room card, or someone at the front desk opens it remotely. We were greeted with a rum punch (fruit punch for my 13 y/o), freshly scented cold towels, & warm welcomes (I’m also a Dale Chihuahua fan, so I was impressed with one of his original pieces mounted behind the desk!). We were able to store our luggage in a secure room so we could hang out at the pool & beach while waiting for our room to be ready. First stop was the pool, & we were immediately greeted by Colin & AJ. They made us feel so very welcome right from the start, & we knew we had chosen the right place! We went to the beach for a little while, then someone from the front desk (I’m so sorry I forget her name, but she was lovely!) came to get us to take us to our room, bearing gifts of a Somerset tote bag, bag of cookies, & candy that matched the colors of Grace Bay. What a nice touch! OUR ROOM: As I said, I found the 2 bedroom penthouse unit (called the 2 bedroom duplex on their website) online, & booked our stay (through Turks and Caicos Reservations) at Somerset because of this room. Usually, high expectations lead to disappointment. But, as we walked into this room….MIND. BLOWN!! We were all speechless. The view - STUNNING!! We had a huge deck, complete with grill, high top table & chairs, and cushioned chaise & loveseat, all overlooking the pool & beach beyond. Large living room (with a pull out couch & plenty of comfy seating); beautiful dining room; exquisite kitchen (FIRST CLASS appliances - Viking range & fridge, trash compactor, Cuisinart small appliances, plus all of the tableware, glassware, utensils, etc you could possibly need); laundry closet (detergent provided); half bathroom; two large, beautiful bedrooms with gorgeous bathrooms & balconies (Bvlgari toiletries, that smell AMAZING, are regularly replenished, & the towels are the softest, plushest towels I’ve ever felt in my life! Robes & soft slippers are also stocked in the bedrooms. One of my favorite features was the little reading/relaxing nook in my son’s bedroom; so cozy!). All lights were on dimmers (nice touch). The suite also had an integrated Bluetooth sound system, with speakers located in every room, so you could play your own music that broadcasted throughout the entire suite. (A Soca soundtrack playing along as I live my best life in my TCI home-away-from-home? Yes, please!) But the piece de resistance of our suite was accessed by a curving staircase that lead to the rooftop terrace…..oh WOW! First of all, there was even a wet bar & mini fridge on the landing at the top of said staircase so you could easily access refreshments when you were on the roof. But that rooftop….you could see the ENTIRE ISLAND from up there!! We had our own loungers, table & chairs, jacuzzi, more chairs & seating nooks. It was perfection. The live webcam on Somerset’s website? That is mounted on this room’s rooftop terrace! We spent several nights just hanging out in our jacuzzi, watching shooting stars & satellites. Magical! Best view on the island for fireworks, too! And the sunsets?? Spectacular! (You do share the rooftop with the other 2 bdr penthouse unit, but you each have your own private jacuzzi, shower, & seating areas, & we only saw someone else up there 1 time). HOUSEKEEPING: I have to give accolades to our housekeeper, Jacqueline, who left our room IMPECCABLE! Best service we have had at any resort, hands down. She was so sweet, & left everything spotless. After she came in our room & cleaned, the appliances all looked like they were new out of the box. She is a gem. Somerset also does a nightly turndown service. They leave mini bottles of water & chocolates bedside. BREAKFAST: Our stay included breakfast (served 7:30a - 10:30a), which was the perfect way to begin the day. On our first full day, we stopped in at the front desk where we picked up our breakfast vouchers to use for the duration of our stay. This consisted of: coffee/tea, juice, shared plates of pastries & fresh cut fruit, 2 eggs, bacon, & choice of toast / pancake / French toast. Additional options were available for purchase. Although the breakfast was pretty basic (a lot of the other higher-end resorts have a better breakfast w/more selections & a buffet), it was decent. Service was always very good as well. RESTAURANT: We did not eat at the main restaurant (Barbetta House, which is open for dinner & is also where breakfast is served), but we did have lunch at the poolside restaurant (Barbetta on the Beach). It was FANTASTIC! I had the veggie panini w/side salad ($18 & the portion was HUGE, enough for a lite lunch the next day), & my husband had the fish tacos ($23), which were out of this world. The menu has a wide variety of options, too (including vegetarian which made me happy!). MANAGER’S PARTY: We enjoyed attending the complimentary Manager’s Party on Monday evening (from 5:30p - 6:30p). Included was rum (or fruit) punch, beer, wine, & bottled water, as well as appetizers. Again, excellent service from the servers working here. It was also the 4th of July, & Somerset had an area set up for the kids w/free hot dogs, snow cones, cotton candy, popcorn, s’mores & lawn games. Such a thoughtful way to make guests feel appreciated! BEACH BBQ & BONFIRE: This is offered every Tuesday, & although we didn’t attend (it was our last night & we’d just returned from a day trip to North & Middle Caicos), we watched the festivities from our deck & it looked like a lot of fun & a lively group. I believe the cost was $65/pp. There was music, dancing, a fire dancer, buffet & cash bar. HYDRATION: One thing worth noting is that Somerset leaves water by the gallon in the fridge for guests, replenished as needed. We brought refillable, insulated bottles with us, which was perfect for filling up & bringing to the beach. You can also ask the beach or pool attendants for complimentary bottled water. POOL: The pool is beautiful, & the attendants who work there are TOP NOTCH. Plenty of towels were available throughout the day (something not always readily available at some of the other resorts we’ve stayed at), & the chair covers were super comfortable. Colin & AJ were quick to help guests find an available chair & truly made us feel welcomed & valued each time we saw them, greeting us by name. The pool has a tiled floor, so no toe scrapes on rough concrete! Food & beverage servers at the pool (& beach!) are also excellent. They were always checking to see if we needed anything (without being obtrusive). My husband & I enjoyed lunch one day from the comfort of our pool chairs! There were pool loungers/floats available for guests to use as well. BEACH: It goes without saying that Grace Bay beach is perfection. It’s what has kept us coming back since our first trip in 2006. The stretch of beach in front of Somerset is beautiful. Beach chairs (& towels) were always available, & there is a stash of rafts / floats / beach toys to use. (Or bring your own & they will inflate them for you). NEXT TIME: We have already booked next year’s stay at Somerset (& that gorgeous 2 bdr penthouse)! We did that prior to leaving, which was a first for us in all of our 16 years of coming to TCI. That’s how much of an impression Somerset made on us. From the service & staff, to the gorgeous grounds, to the beautifully appointed rooms, Somerset greatly exceeded our expectations. We can’t wait to return! 💙

I would recommend the Somerset to everyone! We went with our 3 month old baby and it was the best place to stay for us. All the benefits from a hotel and apartment/house at the same time was the ideal combination. We stayed at Residence 5, that had everything we needed and more. The pool and beach are AMAZING, there was always room for us on both and the service from the people helping was outstanding. It was also our first time in the island, we would definetely go back and for sure to the Somerset R5 again!

It all begins with Stevonya in reservations reaching out to assist us with our stay. It could not have been more perfect. A one- bedroom ocean view is what we decided on and were surprised with a Penthouse suite. This is our 3rd trip to The Somerset (7th) to the island and it just keeps getting better. From start to finish the staff offers the little touches that keeps us coming back. They greet you by name and ask about your stay. Leraud, Jahansen, and Jan at the front desk make check-in and check-out memorable. Ingrid, and Jenny get your day started at breakfast. Katrina kept our amazing suite spotless and our refrigerator stocked with water. The beach and pool staff were all readily available , helpful, and friendly. AJ went above and beyond. He even took us out on a short sailing adventure. The water, the sand, and the views are spectacular, but it’s the people that make The Somerset special! I recommend the Manager’s Cocktail reception and the Tuesday night BBQ. Both experiences were fun and a great way to kickoff our vacation. We love that they have bicycles available to travel to town, (pick up a few provincials, shop, or grab a bite to eat.). There are so many great restaurants in the area to walk to or take the bikes. The food at the pool was very good as well. I cannot say enough about what a perfect place The Somerset is to take your family to or relax as a couple. It checks all the boxes. When you are looking for a 5 star, luxury experience you will no doubt find it here. I will count the days until we can return!🏖🏖

We had a super relaxing vacation at the Somerset. Loved that the place was quiet, did not feel crowded. Always easy to find beach chairs or sit poolside without having to go down early to put towels on chairs to save them. The beach is simply amazing. Our 3 kids were out there every day from sun up to after sunset. The daily sunsets were a highlight. Berry, the concierge was so thoughtful and helpful planning out our excursions the week before our trip. She immediately understood what we were looking for and was able to plan days that were well-balanced with activities and relaxation. The staff at Barbetta on the Beach definitely deserves mention - they all were lovely and so attentive to the kids. Our 2 bedroom ocean view villa was awesome. Plenty of space for our family of 5. The second bedroom had plenty of room for a roll away bed for our 3rd child. The balcony view was amazing. The housekeeping staff kept the unit so tidy and free of any sand. Loved having the gallon of water in our fridge as well as the free bottled water service at the pool and beach. We enjoyed the manager's cocktail reception on Monday evening. Other guests were also so friendly and we had a great time getting to know some of them. The Father's day brunch was just alright. Food was okay and not worth the price. The live music was great. The BBQ on the beach was special. The food was great. The entertainment - deejay, games, and fireeating guy were great.

Great property. Super nice beach but. Rude. Horrible. Beach /pool staffs. Need to improve guest relations and customer service. No need for attitude when asking ice that was forgotten twice when I had to make special trip to the pool bar after receiving half watering pina colada’s. Bar manager needs to learn how to talk better rather than arguing with me when a hotel guest asks for an ice. No need to tell me “do you understand “ or “you got it” smart ass comments from beach staffs. You can ask nicely. I am not an idiot. Remember. I am the one who is paying your salary. The Worst places for family vacation from the last 20 years of world travel. High hopes to visit T/C. Took two hours to go through customs compared to 1 hour on any other country customs Many lazy employees. They don’t seem to understand the work ethic.

This is our 6th time visiting Provo, but our first time staying at the Somerset. And we’ll never stay anywhere else. We were there for our 25th wedding anniversary, and can’t imagine a more perfect vacation. And most of that is due to the Somerset being such a special place. The service is impeccable, and every single person who works here is incredibly kind, warm and welcoming. We’ve never felt so treated like royalty in our lives. It feels like a community that's been together forever, and we even made several new friends. A big thank you to Stevonya, Berry, Leraud, Juvanie, Salomon, Madan and all the other phenomenal employees who made us feel like family! They are as good as it gets. (And the rum punch upon arrival is the best I've ever tasted.) The villa is truly stunning, inviting, comfy and felt like home the moment we walked in the door. The peacefulness was something we desperately needed, and we slept like babies every night. The pools are absolutely magnificent, and there's never any competition to get a chaise lounge either there or on the beach. We loved the Somerset so much that we’re thinking of inquiring about purchasing a unit in the future, as we now know we’ll never be staying anywhere else. Thank you to everyone at the Somerset for a magical 25th anniversary!

Worth every penny. This resort is the right size for what we were looking for. It is true that all the staff is super friendly. You can tell it is constructed well because it was very quiet. It is a family resort for the most part but we were not looking for a party crowd. The included breakfast doesn't have a lot but you have the option to order other items. The pool restaurant wasn't the best and over priced. The main restaurant had much better offerings but is only open for dinner. The fitness room was well equipped but a little crowed in the mornings. Our condo had a gourmet kitchen although we ate out or did carry out. The pools were super clean and plenty of lounge chairs to go around. The kitty who stays on property was super cute and came to visit us everyday.

In early February I returned to The Somerset for a quiet respite by myself. Traveling alone I knew The Somerset was the only resort where I would feel safe, happy and at home. My first stay at The Somerset was in March of 2022 with my family of 6, including 2 year old and 5 year old granddaughters. Of all the extraordinary resorts we had been to previously, we all agreed that The Somerset was by far the best. Putting aside the beautiful island of Turks & Caicos, The Somerset itself was unique and special in so many ways. The warm, welcoming front staff from our reservationist, Stevonya, to Berry, manning the Concierge desk, along with the team at the pool and pool bistro, AJ, Colin, Mr. Biggs and Nadine we became in their terms “family.” Each one of them made our days delightful and fun. My 5 year old granddaughter loved Miss Sharon in the Kids Club so much she went from a morning group, then added the afternoon session, and eventually declared that she wanted to return to Miss Sharon’s Kids Club for her July birthday. If you have children in tow, Miss Sharon alone is worth the trip. The landscaping is gorgeous. Our 3 bedroom suite in 2022 and mine this trip with full, high end kitchen and spacious living areas were beautifully appointed. Having a wonderful restaurant on the premises is always a plus. Don’t miss the BBQ on their beach night. My solo trip was short-lived, btw. My older son decided to take advantage of the sofa bed in my one bedroom suite for a long weekend. So much for a solo quiet respite! We can’t wait to go back.
