We spent a week here at the beginning of March. Our room was comfy, if a tad rustic. However, what sets this property apart is the fantastic, friendly staff. They are, without exception friendly, warm and helpful. The new restaurant is lovely and the food was delicious. I really enjoyed the Asian selections as well as the western ones. Most of the cocktails were delicious, especially the Mojitos. The pool area is very pretty, although a railing at both the pool and hot tub would make entering both safer. To me, the only disadvantage of this property is its location. Although the butler transportation to the gorgeous beach worked well, it is not the same as being on the beach. When you do arrive at the beach, the location allocated to Kokomo is beautiful and very quiet compared to the area farther down. I would return here because of the wrmth and kindness of both the owners, Kelly and Gabrielle and the wonderful staff.…
Kokomo is the perfect getaway for someone looking to completely relax! I was blown away by the kindness of Suzzana and all the others. They noticed the little things like a cough and made me a remarkable tea to soothe my throat. Or in the evening when my ankles were swollen they had ice for me to soak in. They truly care about their guests!! Kokomo is beautiful and peaceful but it was the personal attention the staff showered me with that gives this resort a 5 star rating! Thank you for making my stay one of the absolute BEST!!
We had a great week long stay at Kokomo. We found it to be expensive for what you get but the cottages are nice and clean. Definitely recommend you rent a car if you choose to stay here so you can really explore the island! The restaurant is delicious but very expensive (most places on the island are). It was hard to find info on it on their website but you can book your stay as an all inclusive or just the basic room rate which includes water and their version of a continental breakfast (yogurt, fruit, small bagels and baking). The beach where they have chairs is beautiful but it’s worth the drive to check out the other beaches the island has to offer as well!
Stayed at Kokomo during Christmas week with the family. Enjoyed the excellent service by their staff, very peaceful and quiet atmosphere and absolutely amazing food from their new restaurant. Beautiful off-property beach club with excellent butler service.
My family stayed at Kokomo during the Xmas holiday. Let me start off by saying the butlers and staff are all very friendly and nice. The pool, while small, is very pretty. The resort is not near a beach or walking distance to any shopping or restaurants. You will need a car as taxi service is very expensive. Taxi was $30 to go to town and $40-50 for a car per day. There are no resort activities. This is fine if all you want to do is sit by the pool or take a shuttle to the beach. There is no gym. There is a sister resort near by with a gym, but not within walking distance because there are stray dogs that wander the streets and you cannot really walk around. Many of the island brochures mention the dog problem, so believe it. The website and Trip Advisor and Jet Blue advertise this resort as all inclusive. This is a new concept to management I think, and it does not look like the chef or wait staff is ready for this. There was something wrong with just about every meal we ordered: wrong meals served, no napkins, no spoons with desert, wrong menus, couscous brought instead of rice, meals being brought out for one family member and the rest have to wait up to a half hour to get rest of meals. We can go on. Besides the errors and omissions, the food was not that great. Actually a disappointment. So much so, we ate out most meals after the 2nd day despite paying for all inclusive. The sushi was mostly rice, lamb kabobs almost all fat, the eggs were cold, cold toast, unripe melon served, practically inedible Eggs Benedict due to the fat, etc. On our last night, when we were served a very bad coq a vin, we did complain to management who basically said "the chef wrote a cook book and no one else is complaining." I also told him that outside the kitchen that there were about 100 cigarette butts which is gross since likely from the kitchen staff. Management told me "the chef does not smoke." Well someone in the kitchen does. We were there for a week and no one cleaned the butts. This is not a smoke free facility. The rooms have ash trays. Guests can smoke outside of dining area and the dining area is open air so the smoke is not blocked out. This was surprising. We also had some minor issues on check in and verifying all inclusive and renting a car. The grounds are pretty, but not lush or botanical. Their idea of a "spa" is to have a massage in your room. There are no other facilities. Some parts of the grounds are under renovation which you will not see mentioned anywhere. The grounds at night are also dark and not well lit. Yes, the ocean beach water is beautiful and the beaches are clean and I recommend taking a ferry to nearby islands for a day trip. Our issues were primarily with the facility, the dining and how ordering and serving were handled. We generally prefer more amenities.…
