We really enjoyed our stay at the Crabtree Apartments. Bikes made getting around the island very easy. It’s was also nice having a few things in the fridge once we got there. Transportation from the airport was very easy. Apartment was accurately described in the listing and the photos also accurately reflected the property. Property is directly on the beach and faces west for great sunsets.
This was our first visit to Grand Turk and Turks and Caicos. I do extensive research for trips. After returning one afternoon from biking the island I said to my husband that the Crabtree Apartments are the best thing going on the island. We really enjoyed our stay. Two bedroom, one bath apartment with small kitchen was comfortable and clean but the beach right outside our back door was why we booked here and we would do it again. Grand Turk is not high end. There aren't hordes of people and you don't get five star treatment. What you do get is an escape from reality back in the States, which is what we wanted. There's not a lot going on in Grand Turk. But if you stay for a week, take a couple of days for snorkel or diving trips, a day at the cruise center, and a couple of days just hanging out at the apartment enjoying the view and the beach, then you will have experienced Grand Turk. The owners and manager were more than helpful when we had trouble with the DVD player and when we ran out of hot water (simple fix due to a trip in the breaker). Loved hanging out with the dogs every day. Wifi wasn't great while we were there but we wanted to escape, so it was fine. Cable not yet in operation following the hurricanes but DVD player and stack of movies provided evening entertainment. AC in the bedrooms worked GREAT. Just a note, I did not give highest rating merely because of the surroundings. Potential vacationers need to know that Grand Turk is not a luxury destination. The apartment is super and I highly recommend it, as well as Grand Turk in general. It was perfect for us. …
Stayed July 2017 Read all the previous glowing reviews with a bit of healthy skepticism but were blown away by our vacation. The location was P-E-R-F-E-C-T and the beach even better. The dogs were wonderful, Paws is (sweet old man) and Chace completely stole our hearts,. Donkeys showing up daily out back for some scratching and food were so fun. FYI- donkeys will eat dog food in bowls supplied and food can be bought in the local grocery stores. Just out your back door are snorkeling areas AND soft sandy bottom areas for just playing in the crystal blue waters. Bring a snorkel mask and flippers with you. Daily saw different species of fish and even a sea turtle snorkeling just out the back door. The rental was clean and thoughtfully well stocked with coffee, eggs, butter and OJ for that first morning breakfast. Nothing lacking and guest comfort oblivious important in furniture, beds, kitchen suppplies and veranda is awesome. The people of Grand Turk are so friendly and the historic buildings and alleys of Cockburn are very very special. (If you are looking for Disney perfect probably not the right place but if you want the real thing this is it.) Maybe not the best place for kids or teenagers that need the neon strips that litter so many US beach towns but God spent some EXTRA time on this island. BTW this review was written by an avowed beach-hater-Alaska-loving lady that cannot wait to return. Magical is the best way to describe our week at Crabtree, Grand Turk. Sooo looking forward to our return visit (not if but when). Have to rethink my position on beach vacations IF Crabtree and GT is on the table.😁…
Everything you read about these apartments are true. great view, right on the beach, calm waters, very private. Apartment is well stocked with all the necessities, along with a very good first aid kit which unfornatunitly we needed. Management was very helpful and very accessible. Bikes and free local cell phones worked out great.
The location is perfect and the apartments are only a short walk to local eateries. Very quiet and private A beautiful beach to yourself and great snorkeling steps from your back door. The apartments are clean and well stocked, including beach towels and laundry on site. There are bikes with baskets so touring the area or shopping for daily groceries is a snap. If you are looking for a quite and tranquil way to unwind this is the perfect place. This was our second trip and are already planning our next!!! ,
I can't say enough about how wonderful are stay is at the Crabtree apartments. The quality of the beach that you could only wish for. The unit so well appointed with everything that you could need for your break away of day to day work & living. Surrounded by ocean views, nature & critters that make you feel that it's a place were you belong especially if you have left your creatures at home. I don't want to give away this secret place for fear of competition for our future returns. Priced perfectly. Inexpensive short flight from Provo & everything from the donkeys, horses, potcake dogs, welcoming Grand Turk islanders & owners of Crabtree Apartments that make your holiday memories worth the travel to this destination.
Clean, comfortable, well-equipped with the most amazing view and wonderful dogs. There's nothing negative to say about this place. The property exceeded our expectations. Can't wait for our next visit.
This off the beaten path little island is well worth the trip if you stay at the Crabtree Apartments! The pictures are beautiful but it is absolutely breathtaking in person, the ocean just steps from your back door, easy snorkeling around three graduated reefs, the further out you go the more you see. The rooms are pretty and comfortable, kitchen well stocked and all very clean. The house is within walking distance to several restaurants (Sand Bar is a fun hangout) and a grocery store or you can ride a bike just about anywhere (Lighthouse was a hit on bikes but that last hill is not for the faint of heart). Perfect for the traveler who wants to get away from it all, live very simply for a bit and you almost always have the beach to yourself. If you get the chance, go listen to Mitch Rollings and his band, and take an excursion with the Blue Water Divers (Gibbs cay and Salt Cay were both favorites, be sure to eat at Island Thyme while in Salt Cay and tell Porter the Texas girls say HI!). The owners of the Crabtree and their staff were super helpful as were many of the islanders, so friendly. We highly recommend and will return!…
Trip Advisor ratings go from average to very good. We wanted to rate the Crabtree as Good. This is a nice place to stay on Grand Turk. What’s not to love about having your own private beach? That said there are a few things less than positive things that we think are worth mentioning. We stayed in apartment #1 which we thought was the most private. As cute as it was…it needs a little love. I don’t mean a fancy, modern update…some simple fixes would do. The screen doors in the living room and bedroom have pretty significant holes and tears. The drawers in one of the kitchen cabinets went off track frequently and caused some problems (admittedly we like to cook and were in and out of them a lot). The wicker furniture is old….especially on the patio where the wood is splintering and caught my leg a few times. One of the two beach chairs was broken, one of the beach towels was ripped and the beds were very very squeaky. Again, we liked the Crabtree Apartments but with a minor tune up this would go from a nice place to a GREAT place. There are some real positives about this property. First the ease and efficiency of dealing with Jess through the booking process…she was great. Also, when we arrived there was a loaf of bread, OJ, eggs, butter, milk and juice in the fridge. After 3 planes and a 15 hour travel day that was much appreciated. We were provided with a cell phone with enough minutes to make some local calls. This was extremely helpful to call for rentals and to book trips. The apartment manager, who lives on the island, called us the night we arrived to make sure we got in safe and sound. The beach is lovely but be aware that there are no beach umbrellas and the shade of the trees is in the morning only. In the afternoon you have to move to the porch unless you are a sun worshiper. The bikes provided were actually in very good shape and a nice treat. The shed with the washer and dryer was an extra bonus. These are all wonderful customer service perks. We read a lot about how you don’t need transportation on Grand Turk but we rented a golf cart from Nathan and would highly recommend doing so. There are only a few places within walking distance and so it’s a great way to get out and see the whole island. The two food stores that were recommended are the closest but not great options. We found a few others (by having our golf cart) that were only minutes from the apartment with much better selections. The Dominican store had a great selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. The other was E and R. Too bad we found them half way through out trip. We read so much about the Sandbar but we really liked Jack’s Shack much better for fresh fish. We also enjoyed the BBQ at the Bohio. We ate most of our meals at the best outdoor venue in Grand Turk...the front porch of the Crabtree Apartments. …
It was absolutely a perfect place for us! The apartment was clean and comfortable with covered patio & awesome view of the beautiful ocean! The description of the apartment, location & amenities on the listing were very accurate. The owner was very easy to deal with during the rental process. She was super friendly & informative. The apartment has the best location, directly on an amazing secluded beach, trees for shade, snorkeling reefs all along the beach & beautiful sunsets every night, we even spotted whales! We always had a few very friendly, sweet dogs that hung out with us, along with a donkey showing up once in awhile! Every morning after enjoying our coffee, overlooking the beautiful water, I would walk the beach and find beautiful shells & sea glass. Exploring the island is easy & safe, the people on the island are super friendly. We walked, rode bikes & rented a golf cart for 3 of the days. The golf cart was a fun way to check out the other side of the island which had some beautiful views. We also used the cart to see the lighthouse & go to the cruise center for shopping & a drink at Margaritaville. We ate at most of the restaurants which were all very good. We had a lot of fresh fish, lobster & conch. Our favorite was The Sandbar, the fresh fish was delicious & the sisters that own the restaurant were very nice & friendly. I really like that most of the restaurants are right on the water & the dress is very casual. We loved this place so much I don't have one negative thing to say! We're looking forward to going back next February!…
