We spent six night at Crabtree Apartments. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment is very nicely decorated and there are lots of thoughtful touches. We really appreciated having some food essentials and many spices provided at the outset. The full kitchen is wonderful. Most days we chose to make our breakfast and lunch and then went out to dinner.

The location is phenomenal! We walked all over the island from there. It is close enough to easily walk to restaurants but far enough away that it was always quiet.

If you are coffee drinkers, we advise bringing some good ground coffee. We appreciated the coffee provided for us but wished that we had brought some with us. Also, know that groceries are not cheap because everything, with the exception of seafood, must be flown in. Also, this is an apartment and not a hotel, there is no front desk or services once you get there.

Our only gripe is that the bed wasn't very comfortable. However, we are already talking about going back.

This was our first visit to Grand Turk and Turks and Caicos. I do extensive research for trips. After returning one afternoon from biking the island I said to my husband that the Crabtree Apartments are the best thing going on the island. We really enjoyed our stay. Two bedroom, one bath apartment with small kitchen was comfortable and clean but the beach right outside our back door was why we booked here and we would do it again. Grand Turk is not high end. There aren't hordes of people and you don't get five star treatment. What you do get is an escape from reality back in the States, which is what we wanted. There's not a lot going on in Grand Turk. But if you stay for a week, take a couple of days for snorkel or diving trips, a day at the cruise center, and a couple of days just hanging out at the apartment enjoying the view and the beach, then you will have experienced Grand Turk. The owners and manager were more than helpful when we had trouble with the DVD player and when we ran out of hot water (simple fix due to a trip in the breaker). Loved hanging out with the dogs every day. Wifi wasn't great while we were there but we wanted to escape, so it was fine. Cable not yet in operation following the hurricanes but DVD player and stack of movies provided evening entertainment. AC in the bedrooms worked GREAT.

Just a note, I did not give highest rating merely because of the surroundings. Potential vacationers need to know that Grand Turk is not a luxury destination. The apartment is super and I highly recommend it, as well as Grand Turk in general. It was perfect for us.

Trip Advisor ratings go from average to very good. We wanted to rate the Crabtree as Good. This is a nice place to stay on Grand Turk. What’s not to love about having your own private beach? That said there are a few things less than positive things that we think are worth mentioning. We stayed in apartment #1 which we thought was the most private. As cute as it was…it needs a little love. I don’t mean a fancy, modern update…some simple fixes would do. The screen doors in the living room and bedroom have pretty significant holes and tears. The drawers in one of the kitchen cabinets went off track frequently and caused some problems (admittedly we like to cook and were in and out of them a lot). The wicker furniture is old….especially on the patio where the wood is splintering and caught my leg a few times. One of the two beach chairs was broken, one of the beach towels was ripped and the beds were very very squeaky. Again, we liked the Crabtree Apartments but with a minor tune up this would go from a nice place to a GREAT place.
There are some real positives about this property. First the ease and efficiency of dealing with Jess through the booking process…she was great. Also, when we arrived there was a loaf of bread, OJ, eggs, butter, milk and juice in the fridge. After 3 planes and a 15 hour travel day that was much appreciated. We were provided with a cell phone with enough minutes to make some local calls. This was extremely helpful to call for rentals and to book trips. The apartment manager, who lives on the island, called us the night we arrived to make sure we got in safe and sound. The beach is lovely but be aware that there are no beach umbrellas and the shade of the trees is in the morning only. In the afternoon you have to move to the porch unless you are a sun worshiper. The bikes provided were actually in very good shape and a nice treat. The shed with the washer and dryer was an extra bonus. These are all wonderful customer service perks.
We read a lot about how you don’t need transportation on Grand Turk but we rented a golf cart from Nathan and would highly recommend doing so. There are only a few places within walking distance and so it’s a great way to get out and see the whole island.
The two food stores that were recommended are the closest but not great options. We found a few others (by having our golf cart) that were only minutes from the apartment with much better selections. The Dominican store had a great selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. The other was E and R. Too bad we found them half way through out trip.
We read so much about the Sandbar but we really liked Jack’s Shack much better for fresh fish. We also enjoyed the BBQ at the Bohio. We ate most of our meals at the best outdoor venue in Grand Turk...the front porch of the Crabtree Apartments.

Thank you for reviewing our property. We wanted you to know that we strive to make our guests stay and vacation the best ever. We had been searching for the right furniture for the verandas and have just purchased new comfortable teak patio furniture for all three units, 2 new folding beach chairs for each unit and a new box spring and mattress for this unit. We are also having a cabinet maker look at the drawers in all the units.

This was our second stay at Crabtree apartments, we stayed from Feb 2nd to the 16th. We stayed in the middle unit this time and although not as open and private as the end units (we stayed in unit 1 the first time) - still very wonderful, with a wonderful king size bed! There were some necessary changes with the beach area that we were not expecting that made it a bit difficult to get down to the beach, but the new landscaping looks great.

For the most part the island is really safe and we rode our bikes all over the place with no problems. Like anyplace you need to be mindful of your belongings. The grocery stores stock very basic foods and it can be difficult to find any gluten free products - so bring items for special diets if you can. The area right out in front of the accommodation can be pretty good for snorkeling - but while we were there the waves were a bit too big to go out, so we went to White Sands Beach. Its a bit of a bike ride but the snorkeling is wonderful.

We really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this island and love the quiet pace and the lovely small restaurants and bars.

We will be back and staying at the Crabtree again

What a beautiful spot for a relaxing vacation. The apartment was clean and tastefully decorated. Everything you could possibly need for your stay was at the ready...down to fresh breakfast fixings in the refrigerator! The owners seemed to anticipate evrything that would be needed to make it a stress free vacation. The beach was just steps from the back door. The location was quite but walking distance to everything. The islanders are friendly and our time there was delightful. Don't expect a lot of entertainment, but if you like to have a lot of fun with the locals, Grand Turk and Crabtree apartments does it all! I can hardly wait to go there again.

Our Crab Tree Apartments vacation has been added to the "title" list of experiences that you really have to experience first hand to appreciate. No review we read or picture we saw did justice to what we would experience on our vacation.
The blues and greens of the water are etched our my mind, the orange and red sunsets, the horses and donkeys on the streets, shells, sea glass, a refreshing quite breeze, the warm water, the dogs, the friendly Islanders, the tan that will be the envy of friends and a bank roll for my dermatologist, the snorkeling, scuba diving, a lovely apartment with all the comforts of home... Where do I even start. Luckily, past reviews filled you in on the tangible things. I think it is what you do with all the tangible things that makes the vacation. The beauty that we saw around us the minute we opened the back door of our apartment took our breath away. The view changed constantly, go inside to get another water (ok maybe a beer), come back and the water is a different shade of amazing .Then you have the vibrant colors of the fish, and big lobsters that are literally in the back yard of the apartment, and the soft beaches were all the distraction we needed to leave behind all of our stress and most of our callouses! We loved how casual everything was on the island and are already planning our next trip. The accommodations are charming, clean and convenient to food establishments. The fridge was stocked with eggs, water, juice and milk. Past guests left extra sunblock that came in handy. A/Cs in bedrooms and ceiling fans are all you need for cooling off inside. The only thing that I would do different on our next trip is bring less clothes--all casual and more sunblock. If time and money allowed I would also stay a few more days!!!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Grand Turk is truly an island paradise and Crabtree puts you smack dab in the middle of a fantastic beach setting. The apartments themselves are just a few minute bike ride (or about a ten minute walk) from "town" proper where you'll find the dive shops and restaurants. That's where you'll likely see most of the activity, so it was nice to head back "out of town" to Crabtree that felt remote but was only a short distance away.

The apartment itself is ready for you with some staples when you arrive. The kitchen is well-supplied, so you can likely prepare anything you'd desire. Rooms are clean, light, and airy. We kept the windows and doors open when there to take advantage of the great ocean crosswinds through the unit. Ocean sounds were the perfect soundtrack at night for sleep.

I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention the potcakes (island dogs). They were fantastic to have around, especially Paws, who went with us nearly everywhere.

One word of warning: Be aware that some content in the island info binders is quite outdated. So if you're trying to locate any of the restaurants to the south (towards the cruise port) as we were, you won't find them. They are closed. We found it best to ask folks at the dive shop when we were interested in something specifically, as they usually could give us up-to-date info.

We were also lucky enough to have a super friendly couple staying in one of other units while we were there. It was there 13th trip to Grand Turk, so they were a wealth of info. (Thanks Dave and Kathy!)

Myself and two children 15,11 loved our home away from home (NYC) at Crabtree apt just south of Cockburn Town, Grand Turk. The apartment was clean, comfortable and well appointed as to our needs. The island people were very welcoming and friendly and helped make our visit wonderful. We were accompanied by usually three "potcakes" ( island dogs) who helped us feel safe and welcome during our stay as well. We snorkeling on "our beach" and the fish ( including the resident barracuda) were extraodinary! Only to be topped by our trip with Oasis divers to swim with the rays and snorkel the coral and hunt for conch. We also loved riding horsed through the water and touring the island by bike. The cruise ships were not a bother and allowed my son some tourist shopping as most shops were only open when a ship was in. We rode one day to the cruise ship center but would not do that again when we come back. We were lucky to be a part of emancipation celebrations with a service, re- reading and local music. I also enjoyed the national museum to deepen my experience of Grand Turk.

My husband and I just returned from our 10 day stay at the Crabtree Apartments. We went to Grand Turk to scuba dive and were looking for someplace other than a hotel--Crabtree was perfect!

The units are right on the beach. I'm not sure which I enjoyed more, the constant warm breeze or the sound of the ocean. The middle unit was spacious and we appreciated having the second bedroom to store our scuba and camera gear. When we weren't diving, we were either scouting out Cockburn Town or relaxing on the beach (which we had to ourselves :)

No need to rent a car, simply take the bikes to town. We were able to tote groceries home either in the rack on the back of one of the bikes, or by backpack. The whole island is easily accessible by bike and the local people always greet you with a warm hello.

My only recommendation for someone looking to stay at Crabtree is to bring any food items that you are particularly fond of, as the grocery stores can offer some challenges. I missed our evening cheese and crackers, but made do without. Other than that, this island truly does exude the charm and ease of the old Caribbean. We were a bit concerned with the fact that the cruise ships stop here, but the vast majority of the cruisers remain in the port area where there are shops and activities for them, unlike other Caribbean ports of call.

I would recommend Blue Water Diving, if you are serious divers. They cater to on-island divers :)

Stayed at the Crabtree Apartments this past December 2012-January 5th,2013. We had a wonderful stay in the South unit, unit 1. Beautiful location with the beach and ocean right outside of the back door. Sound was never an issue between the aprtments or from the road. You do hear from the veranda just because they are attached but the wall between makes it private. The pictures are exactly what you get. The veranda was my favourite spot in the morning to read and have my coffee....it was my hubby's favourite spot for an afternoon catnap and reading his book in the late evening. The ocean breezes kept the apartment cool through the day and night. Both bedrooms have air conditioners which we sometimes used. The sounds of the waves when you wake up is amazing. The apartment was just what we needed, and the bedrooms spacious and bright. We ate in the apartment most evenings and went out for lunch on some days. Kitchen is well equipped to eat / cook in, if that is what you wish. We enjoyed fresh fish a few times that we cooked ourselves....people are so friendly...just ask and you will find where locals go for fresh fish, to eat, or to buy groceries/food...It took some time to navigate ourselves but the apartment is in a great location for getting to restuarants or grocery stores. You could use the bikes provided or walk. The merchanidise choices in the stores are not what I am used to, but was ready for that. We are a family of 4 and tavelled with our 2 boys (9 and 11). Some comments on various review sites said that 11 days on Grand Turk would be too sleepy for 2 energentic boys but that was so far from the truth. They snorkled everyday right in front of the apartment. Found that this was the best location compared to all the other beaches we visited. Of course a trip to some reefs in the middle of the ocean is still the best. Could walk the beach in both directions also, which I did everyday. Great beach to collect shells and sea glass. We rented a golf cart for a week and this was a great way to explore and find grocery stores or just visit various sites. The dogs are wonderful too. Be sure to pack some dog kibble and treats with you to feed them. They are lovely.
It was a wonderful trip....hubby and I came back more rejuvinated than we have from a vacation EVER! Kids are asking when we will return ;)
