This was our first time staying at the Osprey and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The hotel has a postcard-perfect location on a beautiful stretch of beach on the western (Caribbean) side of the island, so the weather is calmer and the sunsets are incredible.

There are a very limited number of lodging options on Grand Turk, and certainly no 4 or 5-star facilities, so if that is a requirement for you, this isn't it. However, if you prefer a relaxed island pace, with wonderful food and definitely some of the most friendly, warm, and gracious service staff in the region, then we highly recommend the Osprey Beach.

Now, in fairness, we feel it's important to provide a few comments explaining our lack of an "Excellent" rating. To us these are simply quirks, but other folks have different priorities. Grand Turk's charm is also its shortcoming; it's a tiny island of less than 7 sq. mi, with only about 4,000 residents, and a less than dependable infrastructure system, which during our visit meant that there were occasional internet outages and reasonably short periods when the water wasn't working. With so few workers and the very high costs for almost everything due to shipping, it's impossible to keep buildings maintained to U.S. standards. We think the Osprey does the best that can be done given the circumstances, but guys, it's not the Ritz-Carlton.

There also are limited areas along the hotel's beachfront where you can easily enter the water without having to negotiate a lot of rocks and coral heads right below the surface. Our recommendation is to use the beautiful beachfront at the hotel for sunning, but head south to Governor's Beach or north to Pillory Beach if you're looking to wade and swim near to shore.

We hate to even mention these drawbacks, because they certainly didn't lessen our enjoyment to a significant degree, but believe all conditions should be mentioned in reviews.

Strengths:
Location, location, location! The beach and sunset views cannot be beat. Dive boats (or snorkeling) pick up at the hotel, you can also snorkel from the beach - the further out you can go, the better reef conditions get, and the wall is within reach as well for stronger swimmers.

The Duke Street neighborhood offered access to several bars and restaurants, and walking distance to a bank (bring more cash!), grocery store, and pharmacy.

The staff are all friendly and helpful. We didn’t need to activate our phones for international plans because the office helped us call taxis as needed, and get a golf cart rental for 1 day to explore the island.

We liked our ground floor beach front room for the ease of access to walk in/out directly to the beach. If you prefer the view to access, ask for a room on the upper floor.

Note: The 5-star rating for the hotel does not imply that it is a luxury hotel - but you get solid value for the price of the room.

Some of the downsides: the beds squeaked a bit, there were biting bugs, and some local (friendly) dogs that roamed the area and would occasionally bark (day and night). But keep in mind that all of these downsides are just minor irritations for us compared to the strengths listed above.

In the US, this hotel might be considered "outdated," but that's a part of it's charm. The hotel is right on the beach with chairs and umbrellas. It's right across from two dive shops and about 2 blocks from another. The room was clean and the maid was wonderful. The kitchen had a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster oven, and 2-burner stovetop. We ate at the restaurant a couple of nights and cooked the other meals. Since so much of the food on the island of Grand Turk is imported, everything is expensive. Grocery shopping saved us a bundle. Although it's more expensive to fly into Grand Turk, the price of this hotel is very reasonable and the people on the island are nice. There was a security guard at night, so we felt safe. It was nice to escape the crowds. The only downer for me is that the pool is rarely used because it is in the middle of the restaurant. When a child did swim in the pool, they lowered clear blinds to keep the splashing off the diners. We spent a lot of time at the beach, so it wasn't that much of a big deal. Amazing view.

We are a family of 3, myself, my wife, and our 15 year old daughter. We came to Grand Turk to get our 15-year old Open Water PADI Certified. We could not have made a better choice. A great confidence builder for age 15.

The hotel is small, quiet, and on the beach. Its the kid of resort where you can talk to the staff, and by the 3rd day they know you, what you drink, and what you like for breakfast. We were there for 7 days and 8 nights.

It is a great value. The cost of the room, plus your daily bar bill, the occasional meal, and coffee and breakfast all rolled together don't cost the daily rate of other hotels in Provo.

There are 4 dive shops within a 5 minute walk. All the dive boats pull up to the beach in front of the hotel. There is good snorkeling right in front of the hotel as well. It could not be easer. Henry, Kristen and Kingdry at Blue Water Divers are great, happy, friendly people. They are also very professional, knowledgeable, and safety conscious. They are highly recommended.

The hotel has daily maid service. That's a nice plus. There is a small fresh water pool at the restaurant. Its the kind of place where you can come up from the beach, rinse the salt off in the pool, walk over (dripping wet) to a table, and get your lunch with a rum drink. If you are worried about your cover-up matching your bathing suit, or the brand of watch that you wear, you are in the wrong spot.

Historic Duke Street is the main street. It is right in front of the hotel. Having said that, you can walk right down the middle of the street 24 hours a day without a concern. No traffic, no cars, just the occasional golf cart going the wrong way down the one-way street.

The full kitchen was adequate, we had planned to cook but ate most of our meals out except for breakfast. The AC was ice cold. We never locked the doors and felt safe the whole time, but also used the safe in the room. Beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas are provided.

Great people, great diving, good drinks and food, on the beach, what's not to like?

Just returned from my first visit to Grand Turk Island and I slipped up on the perfect place to stay after a VRBO disaster. Lucky for us it had the perfect location for us divers directly across the street from the island's best dive operation, Blue Water Divers. Nicely appointed all beachfront rooms and a great Bar/Restaurant. The Owner Jenny, and her excellent staff were all very friendly, helpful, and accommodating.

Having spent three weeks in TCI prior to arriving to this property , we weren’t expecting a good experience we were however pleasantly surprised the hotel is very modest but presents well in a colourful Caribbean style. Check in and out was much friendlier and polite than we have encountered in other TCI hotels . The room was spacious with a small balcony and a nice view of the ocean and appeared repainted but the kitchen facilities were showing signs of age and rust , Covid 19 has presumably prevented investment, nevertheless everything worked well apart from the A/C which was unbearably noisy . Connectivity was reasonable with only occasional fall outs . Sleep quality was adequate . Bathroom facilities reflected the slightly run down standard of the room but with good water pressure and medium quality towels and toiletries. Housekeeping was daily which is unusual in the current situation and was excellent by any hotel standards . Externally there is a pool in a central courtyard and small gardens surrounding the property , it’s unfortunate that the area outside the hotel is strewn with rubbish as is most of gran Turk . In short the hotel is suitable for a very short stay but six days is too long unless you are going to be doing a lot of scuba diving , it is true to say that all accommodation on TCI is exorbitantly expensive for the service and quality provided and this property is not any different in that regard to any other hotel on these islands

Our friends live on the island and we were visiting them for a few weeks, they recommended the Osprey for Breakfast since it was a short walk down the beautiful beach. The food was ok and the service was slow but make sure to keep your receipt if you use a credit card, I didn't save my receipt and they tacked on an additional $45 to my $52 dollar breakfast for a $99.81 dollar breakfast. This is a first for me, most of my travels I have had honest merchants. I recommend avoiding this place and to think I left her a very generous tip, they really got me once but it will be the last time.

We came for the thrice-weekly BBQ night. One of us enjoyed the chicken & ribs with peas and rice, green salad and a grilled potato, while the other had grilled mahi mahi with jerk-seasoned pasta salad, green salad and a grilled potato. While not inexpensive (about $80 for two with drinks), the food was fresh, tasty and so filling we couldn't find room for dessert.

Great stay at the Osprey. Our room was on the south end of the hotel, next to the office. It was very comfortable, with large bed, mini fridge and a patio over looking a gorgeous calm beach. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Only compliant really was that the ceiling fan squeaked which became quite annoying at night. So we rigged a solution, balancing items tied to the chain to weigh it down just enough to stop the squeak. Comical but it worked. We had a great time and would stay here again. Trip highlights: the small plane you must take to get to Grand Turk, gorgeous beaches, lovely Islanders, friendly donkeys that roam the island, cracked conch, rum punch.

On our first night they gave us a room with an awesome view unfortunately it was next to the hotel’s storeroom and across a house that has dogs that bark all night into the morning needless to say we didn’t sleep much. The employees were in storeroom very early in the morning and the loud noise compound the agony! Fortunately the front desk was very helpful and moved us to a room that was quite and comfortable.

Hi, we stayed at the Osprey Hotel this past April and really enjoyed it! I'd say booking 2-3 mths in advance is plenty of time for an April stay.
