In a former sugar plantation, this is a small boutique hotel on a very beautiful and very private island. The place to have relax. With less than 20 rooms and spacious rooms, some with private plunge, privacy is what you are really looking for if coming here. The island is always one of the best of Caribbean
We stayed in a very nice villa in Mustique, Azure and went for dinner at Cotton House The whole island is fantastic, quiet and safe. Quite a unique retreat in today’s world. Everyone is tested before disembarking and must have two vaccine shots. This is the key to enjoy holiday old style.
We stayed at the Cotton House for 5 nights in December - lovely boutique hotel with a great feel and a fantastic beach - a great way to experience the "Mustique way of life". In no particular order: friendly and personal service, fantastic beach (with a really good snorkelling spot next to it), relaxed atmosphere, a sense of history, buildings and grounds exuding charm and serenity, lovely room with plunge pool... definitely a great place to relax and chill out. This was our first stay in Mustique and it is as fantastic as they say (or even better!): beautiful island, laid back and friendly atmosphere, lots of space (one can easily have a beach for oneself) etc. A truly magical experience and a fantastic way to escape the pandemic, even for a few days only.
The legendary Cotton House hotel is all about the location- on one of the prettiest islands in the Caribbean and with a beautiful beach. It’s very old school with wonderful staff, but the rooms, televisions and gyms could use some updating. The villas straddle the fine line between “shabby chic” and just plain shabby, and when the wind blows all the shutters and windows rattle like crazy. We were given a nice upgrade and the service is terrific. Of the two restaurants, the beach cafe serves descent lunch, but the Dinner restaurant is disappointing. No outstanding meals and no specials or variety, at least during our stay. Gym and spa could use a makeover. Finally, even though they threw a terrific New YearsEve party, the place could use some livening up, with more live music to put one in the mood, especially during the beach dining. Overall, a charming place but not up to the standards one expects in this price range, on such an exclusive island. …
We started our Honeymoon at the Cotton House 30 years ago so it was wonderful to share the Anniversary with friends and to have Dinner there on the exact date. We had a table on the veranda looking out towards the beach ✅ We had impeccable service ✅. The menus lacked nothing in terms of variety and the execution was spot on. It is a dreamy location and I missed the ambience as soon as I left.
We stayed 2 nights in an oceanview room with plungepool. Oh my it was lovely! Firstly we were greeted at the small airfield and taken the short ride to the main house and our luggage was whisked away to our room. Emilie( GM) greeted us and took us into the Great Room for a refreshing drink and registration. The tranquil surroundings does wonders for any stress you may have brought with you - instant calm. Staff are everywhere it seems but you don't really notice them until you need something. It is a very relaxed atmosphere and guests are there just to chill it seems- quite rightly so! The main restaurant is closed at lunch and the evening meal was to take place at the Beach cafe( seperate review)on our first day, so it was suggested that we could try a local restaurant called The View - Bobson took us there and picked us up later. It's called the View for a reason( review done seperatlely) Our room was just lovely - they offer a free pressing and unpacking service upon arrival - very nice indeed. They also give you a beach bag with 2 nice beach towels in and flipflops - they have thought of most things. The views from our room....well you could have just stayed there for 2 days and dreamed away with your eyes open....On Saturday evening there were drinks in the Great Room where we met other guests and other islanders - so nice and welcoming! We walked mostly but there are Mules ( beach buggys) to hire should you wish. We went to Basils Bar of course as well ( seperate review) - so nice and welcoming again and of course Bobson took us and collected us:) We went swimming on Princess Margaret beach - take proper beach shoes to walk around there as it's just round the corner of another beach and you walk on rocks and it's a little slippery - once there ...you're on your own! Amazing! I'm happy to be contacted for any further information or photos - It was just a lovely stay! Naisha in particualr( seemed to be working everywhere) was such a delight to meet and talk to and she had our breakfast table ready as we arrived in the morning having seen us sauntering across the grass! Thank you. If you are in need of a bit of relaxed luxury this place is worth it!…
I am in love with this place. Visited the first time in 1984 and it has retained all of its charm and beauty and magic. The bungalow suites are divine. Literally PERFECT. The main house restaurant/bar is beyond stunning serving wonderful drinks and food. We decided to come in the off season for some relaxing days and it couldn't be any better. If you want the high life come during the season and you will find parties everywhere. Even now, we are out and about with new found friends every evening. The snorkeling right in front of the main beach is wonderful too. Turtles, parrot fish and everything else! GO!!!
Just got back from a stay at Cotton House, we enjoyed our stay but it could have been better! The staff were all EXCELLENT, this actually made our trip! we picked this hotel because it had a gym!!!! We were on English time so up early! The gym opened at 8am! Which is late for a gym anywhere in the world! Plus the few bits of equipment they did have were rubbish! The one treadmill was broken I was advised that you had to use a pencil to get it working! Which sometimes worked and often didn’t! The great room was beautiful and food good, the evenings at the beach restaurant could have had a bit more atmosphere! Overall a nice holiday but wouldn’t return.
This was our 10th March Break on Mustique at The Cotton House. Obviously we know more of the staff than most regular visitors, but they are still as wonderful as the first day we met them oh so many years ago when my daughter was 4 and they were putting together 2 chairs because she fell asleep at dinner. Now she can go anywhere on the island, it is that safe, which I would never do in my own big city. The girls at the Front of House will track you down if you forgot about a tennis lesson, Sheldon will remember your favourite drink, and absolutely everyone in the 2 restaurants are just lovely lovely lovely. The Beach Café has a new menu, and they now have daily specials, so when we stay for 10 days it's nice to have the variety (great job!). Basil's has been renovated and finally re-opened: awesome menu (even though I miss the old rustic place - Baldwin is now at The Cotton House, so it's all good :)). Yes, it's pricey. But is it worth it? OMG YES!!…
We flew in to Mustique on Sunday, for the Sunset Jazz event at Basil's Bar. So we stayed one night at the Cotton House. We were in Guava Cottage, which was close to the main building. It was a very roomy suite, with an outside porch. Most of the plugs were of the UK type. There was an electronic safe. The resort was spread out, and the main pool was a bit hard to find. (It is by the sugar mill). The beach was nice, once you got past the rocks, entering the clear water. We had a tour of the island, and our driver did a good job of showing the private beaches, and the village. He answered all our questions. We stopped at Firefly for a drink and a look-see of this other hotel. The most surprising thing about our visit (besides seeing Mick Jagger at Basil's), was the airport. Flights land right over a hill, similar to the airport at St. Bart's. So expect a bit of a thrilling landing when you arrive. We were met at the airport by people from Cotton House, and offered a big bottle of water for the surprisingly short drive to the hotel (just on the other side of the airport).…
