I had a very relaxing stay at the Grand View.

It's located a little out of town, up on a hill. Hence that grand view. You'll need to arrange transport from the ferry dock but you can easily walk to and from town without your luggage.

The sweet lady proprietor was very friendly and welcoming. When I arrived there was a problem with water on my floor (there wasn't any) but this was fixed by the time I returned from town a couple of hours later.

My room was a little small and lacked furniture on which I could place my things, so I didn't unpack much. The air con did not have a remote, I had to operate it by pressing a button on the unit itself. No temperature control. View from my balcony was spectacular - looking out towards the mountains, partial sea view. I would have gone for a bigger room, possibly with kitchen. But once I'm settled, I can rarely be bothered to move again.

Breakfast was available (and good). But there was no lunch or dinner. Understandable as I seemed to be the only guest so it wasn't worth their while. Carriacou is very quiet.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights with a hotel reservation.
After an unsettling 1 3/4 hour ferry from Grenada, a taxi($17 US) took us for groceries (Alexis Save A Lot at Tyrell Bay) then crossed 8 km over the island, arriving here at noon. We met the owner at reception and she led us up the stairs to our reserved apartment. Corner #8 is very large with fully outfitted kitchen, bedroom with 2 doubles and an older cable TV (many English channels), nice bathroom and shower stall and a private extended balcony with gorgeous views of the mountains and Hillsborough's bay. The hotel's large dining room (breakfast available) and a spacious pool deck compliments this well maintained 20 year old property with 6 rooms and 5 apartments.
Besides using the pool each day, one day we walked down 1.4 km into town to see its church, museum, buy bananas, and have lunch at Kayak Kafe, then walk back. Another day we walked a 4 mile circuit uphill to the Princess Royal Hospital, the Beria Mill and passed the Top Hill Senior Center to the 2nd mill, then walked back.
This quiet apartment was more than we need for our short stay, but we appreciated the space, good WiFi and the fine views, both day and night, with a nice breeze for $145 per night.

I’ll start by saying this my second time at Grand View, this time with my newly wed husband. I just had to bring him here! Staff and accommodations were just as they were before, WONDERFUL. Our room overlooked the beautiful lush greenery of Carriacou with its crystal blue waters in the horizon. We were served a delicious local breakfast accompanied with sweet fresh fruit. Cold air conditioning and a comfortable room made for a relaxing nights sleep- Carriacou is a simple island with simple pleasures. We will be back again, no doubt.

Grand View is at a good location up in the hills. View of town and ocean is great. However, not close to beach. Why would I try different hotel (maybe Green roof Inn):
1. US visitors: the room doesn’t have plug for US devices. Owner will charge your device at bar for you!
2. If your room is on top and if it rains sound is so loud that I couldn’t sleep
3. Pillows are very tall and hard
4. Our friends stayed at Green Roof Inn, they were given adapters and breakfast was included. Hotel is right on ocean front. Great location too. I loved Carriacou island
But will try Green Roof Inn next time. There fresh bread was so delicious.

I have lost count the number of times i have gone to Carriacou since 1980 ,i just fell in love with this petite " True Paradise ". However i always had a bit of problem with my hotels ,until in 2010 ,someone told me about the Grand View . Let me tel you a short story . In 2012 i met a couple from the South Africa ,who with a small boat had spend 2 years to get to Carriacou .I asked the lady ,what do you give to Carriacou from Zero to Ten ,she said 15 .
I love GRAND VIEW Hotel . Honestly every morning i wake up there and look out down from my balcony ,i feel i have become way younger ,and take lots of deep breaths .This is my favorite vacation spot from Dubai to Hawaii and is the safest country .
Grand View is very very clean and REASONABLE PRICED,it is family owned ,medium sized and they always get me a nice Scooter ,i go from beach to beach,in fact .Mrs.Shirly the owner is very friendly and even called Canada to check my safe return She arranges very reasonable priced taxi to take you to local Jams ( local dance parties ,or fish parties ) or you can pick your own uninhabited Island , which there are many of them a few hundred feet away from the beaches, God's Masterwork. Carriacou means " CORALS " and as an old PADI Diving Instructor i tell you Diving is unparalleled there . Grand View serves excellent fresh Fish Dinner , better in my opinion than Maxim, it is one of the safest places in the world . When I left, I cried and missed the place so much . I strongly recommended this hotel. Hutan 416-333,3699 TORONTO

So we were on Grenada for 2 weeks in July. My wife and I, with our 3 teens. We had never visited the Island before. Carriacou Island is a 3 hrs. Ferry ride away and well worth the trip! Much more laid back than Grenada with beautiful beaches and great diving.
We got off the boat with no real set plans. We first got a bite at Kayaks. Great food! Then, a block away is Dee Ferr Diving, where we made our dive plans for the next day. We still weren’t sure how long we were going to be on the Island but it was time to find a room. Grand View was recommended. It is a fair hike from the dock, especially with luggage so we took taxi. July is off session so we had the entire hotel to ourselves.
The good: Grand view has AC in each room, and a fresh water swimming pool. The view of the hills and the peek of the beach is, truly Grand! It has a restaurant in house, so you don’t need to venture into town if you don’t need to.
The Bad: The beds are squeaky loud and hard. The AC is loud! Plan on an hour plus for each meal in the restaurant. The Credit Card terminal doesn’t always work. That means a trip to the bank. The hotel is ¾ of a mile from a useable beach.
Our Experience: Upon our arrival, Shirley the owner suggested we pay for 3 nights in advance. For some reason we agreed. After the first sleepless night we decided it was time to move on. Getting a refund for the remaining 2 nights was a problem, a BIG problem! Shirley went on about the calculation policy. Mind you the hotel was empty. It was her idea to pay for 3 nights to begin with! And then conveniently the CC terminal stopped working for the refund. We did get a refund days later. It kind of felt like we were escaping by the time we left. There was one casualty in the whole experience. My son’s iPod disappeared from the room. Plus a $100.00 bill was gone as well. That really left a bad taste in our mouth. The good news is the other locals took exceptional care of us. Noël at the Hotel Laurena saved the trip. What Hospitality! And the rooms are big, AC quiet, beds comfortable! We cant wait to go back and visit Hotel Laurena

Spent two nights at the Grand View and wish we had more time to stay. The rooms are small, but very clean and comfortable. Apartments are available also and might be the better choice if planning on spending time at the hotel for other than sleeping. Views from the balconies are breathtaking; our room overlooked the bay, the town of Hillsborough, and the hillsides.

Food is excellent, reasonably priced, and plates attractively presented. Staff is pleasant and accomodating of guests needs.

The pool area is inviting with ample chairs, lounges, and a gazebo. Breezes are almost constant, so no overheating while relaxing by the pool.

It is a short walk into town for shopping, a dip in the bay, or a change of pace for dining.

Anyone looking for a relaxing, refreshing vacation should consider Carriacou and the Grand View.

We stayed at the Grandview for a week and a half in October of 2005 and really enjoyed our experience there.
The place we had chosen (John's) was closed up tight when we arrived on the late ferry (we had not made reservations), so we proceeded to Grandview instead.
Shirley - the owner/manager - did not have an A/C room available that night, but she found us a room for the night, and then moved us into an apt. with A/C the next day.
The rooms are not fancy but are nice, spotlessly clean and the beds are comfy.
We stayed in two different apts. while we were there, and one had a much larger bathroom than the other, with better water pressure, but the first one had a bigger bedroom with larger beds, so it was a trade-off.
The apts. have a full kitchen with stove, large fridge and sink. Prices for food on the island are high, so being able to eat in for breakfast and some other meals helps defray costs.
The view from some of the front rooms is really pretty - over hills to town and the sea beyond. We have stayed in a lot of oceanfront properties, and it was nice to be up above with an expansive view for a change.
The pool area is lovely (there's a charming gazebo), and is GREAT for cooling off after a long day.
We only ate at the hotel a few times, but the food was always very good - healthy and tasty.
One of the best things about the Grandview is that it is close enough to town to walk.
We are planning to return in a few months, and will stay at the Grandview again.

We found John Milton’s “Paradise Lost”
We are the staff of Aquatech Canada Inc.
Carriacou Grand View Hotel is a dream spot. It is a new hotel with very reasonable rates, and the friendly staff.
The view from the balcony is truly fascinating. About 500 yards away from Carriacou we went to the uninhabited White Island and a small boat picked us up for $20. Vacationing in Grandview is a life time fantasy come true. The beauty of this island is next to none and we say that because we are a coral restoration company, we have been around.
We strongly recommend this small, cozy hotel.

I spent 3 nights here over the carnival period in February 2018.The hotel is located in the hills above Hillsborough, a 10 minute walk from the town centre, although a bus passes the door should you not wish to walk. The setting is really beautiful and the upper rooms in particular have a sweeping view of the bay. The hotel has a restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner and a swimming pool as well as a library for the convenience of guests. Its rooms, equipped with a phone and tv are spotless and well maintained. Although it is so close to the town centre, there is an air of peace and tranquillity, perfect for relaxing. All the staff are very welcoming and the owner, Shirley is exceptionally hospitable and takes great care of her guests. She is also a real mine of information about the island itself and can advise you where to go, what to see and how to get there. I loved my 3 days here, a beautiful island was made all the more special by staying in this gem of a hotel. One day, I hope to return to Carriacou and if I do, I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.
