This place was absolutely amazing. The scenery was stunning. Just walking around the property was beautifu and peacefull. Our host did everything he could to ensure that we enjoyed our stay and it was perfect. The place was just so wonderful and scenic. It was an absolute paradise. If you want to go somewhere at which there are loud parties every single night, then this is not the place for you. It is a very relaxed, warm and quiet environment. It is the ideal place to be if you are keen to get away from everything. 1. The rooms were adequate with an excellent shower. 2. On the last night of our stay, there was a storm. The force of the wind caused a tree to block one of the nearby roads. Our host was kind enough to arrange for one of his vans to meet our taxi so that we could get to the airport on time. 3. The food was very healthy. The students who stayed there were told to let the guests eat first. I would not have minded waiting. They were all so kind to us. 4. Our host also arranged for us to climb the nearby volcano. He gave us excellent advice, especially to carry lots of water. 5. The place is in close proximity to some lovely waterfalls. The next time we stay here, I plan to stay for a longer period of time.…
I was in Chateubelair for a day and wanted to go scubadiving. I sent a request to the center by e-mail and got a response shortly after. Jesper, the dive instructor tok me and two others out for a boat dive. There was a lot of corals, a swimthrough, lobsters, turtles and many fish. A good dive! It's a bit of a walk from the town. During the day, that's no problem but I was advised not to walk back alone in the afternoon. That was no problem, though, because the guy driving the dive boat dropped me off at the boat I was staying at after the dive.
3 weeks of sun, rain, beach, diving, vulcano climbing and and other activities. Friendy hosts with a mission. This place is a school where local and international students engage in many different activities including running the place. Organic gardening and restoration of mangrove in beach were interesting activities, as well as presentations by student groups from their practical periods in Equador, Belize and local villages in St.Vincent. I also joined an interesting presentation from visiting scientist on restauration of corals in the area.
My partner and I stayed for 3 nights in December and had an amazing time. Where else in the world can you stay on a large working farm, be surrounded by beautiful nature and landscapes, hike, and meet young people from all over the world who are learning how to be climate change and anti-poverty activists? Our room was basic but comfortable with private bath with shower stall. We had all our meals in the main building together with the Richmond Vale Academy staff and students. The food was healthy, tasty and varied - most of which is sourced from the farm. An added dimension of our experience was conversing with the students and staff and learning about their activities. We took three self-guided hikes during our stay and also spent time just relaxing and exploring the farm and beautiful grounds which overlook the sea and Le Soufriere Volcano. I highly recommend Richmond Vale for people seeking a unique and memorable vacation.…
Great place perfect for rainforest-experiences just next to the volcano, hiking, fresh fruits at the garden and plantations, really excellent food homemade by the young volunteers fresh from the gardens, hostelfeeling, place for reflecting & forgetting the world, nice people
What a superb base this was; I stayed 5 nights and spent the days exploring the hills around. The volcano hike is not be missed, and I'd advise going down into the crater for a look - amazing :-) I ate mangos up and down the trail, 4 different varieties picked by Sam the very knowledgeable guide provided by Richmond. On other days i explored on my own and had lots of interesting chats with many very friendly locals. Meal times in Richmond were always a treat, really tasty healthy sustainable food and at a great price. I'd encourage anyone staying here to be sure to get chatting to the teachers and students to find out what they are doing here toward a sustainable St Vincent, and beyond. Fully recommend :-)
I just got back from 10 days in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Dr Azeez and myself spent 7 days on a yacht and had a chance to spend 1 night at the Richmond Vale Center. Not only is it located in the most beautiful part of St Vincent at the foot of the volcano, the academy is really quite remarkable. I had the opportunity to meet with Stina, the director of the facility, as well as David, a member of the management team. These people are creating leaders in climate change and sustainable living. I also had the pleasure of sitting down with many of the bright young international students from countries such as Turkey, Austria, and the UK. These people are making a BIG difference in peoples lives. Our experience was an unexpected delight. I plan on returning again in the near future to take advantage of the amazing diving and volcano tours offered, and certainly recommend anyone travelling to St Vincent to have Richmond Vale in their itinerary.…
Firstly you need to know the complexities of moving around a volcanic caribean island. Road infrastructure is limited although always made up by the enthusiastic locals who go about life in a completely relaxed environment. Richmond Vale excels in bringing the best out in all envolved. It was a refreshing visit that brought tears of joy and grateful smiles. thank you al soo much...Please help to replicate this wonderful template across the globe, where needed..Again thank you all so much the organisers, back bone staffing and especially the new students.. you are our future...as the locals may say, Blessed love...........The Cunninghams, UK
Immediately after arriving at Richmond Vale, you are treated to an awesome view of the volcano. It's right on their patio, and you'll know immediately that you made the right choice in staying here. I stayed at the Diving & Hiking Centre for 3.5 days. I thought it was a great place because of the relaxed atmosphere and how they promote sustainability. Everyone I met there was super nice and I had a great time scuba diving on one of the days (shore dive) and then hiking up the volcano nearby, which is an amazing experience that you'll want to do if you are in St. Vincent. It's a little difficult to get out there, but worth it because you feel like you have the place all to yourself. There's a waterfall very close by that you can visit and it's actually quite impressive. For those who have more time then you can go to the hotsprings or up to another big waterfall on a separate trail. The beach is super close by too and it's a nice black sand beach with no one on it. David, who has worked there for six years, showed me around the gardens and was always there to help. He help coordinate everything and was very prompt in emailing back/ made sure I was comfortable. I hope to be back soon. …
My husband and I just got back home from a one week vacation in St Vincent. We stayed at Richmond Vale Center for 3 nights. We were interested in hiking the volcano and explore the area and the Richmond Vale Center was the perfect base for us. The accommodation (double room with private bathroom) is basic, as described, so there were no surprises there. David kindly took time to show us the property on arrival and was always available to answer our questions. We found the area surrounding the center gorgeous. Everything is so green, so lush – you find yourself surrounded by fruit trees, coconut palms and other tropical plants at all times. We really enjoyed the hike to the volcano, accompanied by the great guide Sam – he knows the area like the back of his hand! We also hiked to the Dark View falls and loved that as well. But we feel that there is so much more to explore in the area and hope to be able to go back to Richmond soon.…
