We have a vacation home on Nevis which was occupied by renters so for our 4th of July visit we had to stay elsewhere. We picked the Hermitage, which is close to our home and has been a regular destination for dining out over the years. Staying there reinforced our love of the inn and enhanced our appreciation for the... More

The pig roast was a huge waste of money. The food was not that good. It was just a hodge podge of dishes that didn't necessarily go together and left me feeling like I had been served whatever was left in the pantry. The bread pudding (the only desert they offer) was like eating a plate of raw bread dough.... More

I am so sorry to hear that you did not enjoy our pig roast. I am also sorry to hear that you felt the dishes did not go together, while we do try to continually improve our recipes, the menu is based on a traditional format that we have been using many years. We have always received great compliments on... More

We loved our week at the Hermitage living in one of the cottages. Thanks especially to Richie and his staff who are so friendly and efficient. A car is essential to get around the island to visit the various attractions.

The Hermitage is remote enough to provide a sense of total relaxation but still close enough to Charlestown, Pinney Beach and dining, to make it accessible. The owner assembled vintage cottages from around the island on to this lovely site. It has the feel of a funky caribbean bed and breakfast with both homey and elegant touches. No, this is... More

An all round average experience for a very high price. There was no owner greeting - we struggled to even get a drink on arrival. The buffet was good local fare but desert was a lump of pudding on a plate - really for $65?! Could not recommend this based on our experience. There are so many better options on... More

Management response:

I am terribly sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience at the Hermitage Inn. I am also sorry that a member of the family was not there to greet you. As a small, family run business, we are directly involved in the day to day operation of the Hermitage. We like to meet all of our guests... More

This was a very brief visit as it was a stop on a tour. We spent about half an hour walking around the grounds and in the hotel bar area. The hotel which dates back to the 1600's has a really welcoming feel, with old furniture and lots of big sofas to relax on. This looks an amazing place to... More

Hermitage manages to balance fine dining, a great team in a stunning little spot. We went on the night of the pig roast and it did not disappoint! Great wine list, desserts, pre dinner drinks. The owner took the time to share how the food was prepared and why each elegant course was chosen. There was a great vibe in... More

Hermitage provides the perfect getaway destination - great food, wonderful hosts, beautiful location and soooo relaxing you just feel your whole body and mind realigning and recharging. The cottages are delightful, prettily furnished and have verandas with hammocks for your afternoon nap. The gardens are charming and being up on the hill you get cool breezes and wonderful views. If you are looking for a relaxing time in a traditional Caribbean setting with great food and service you can't beat the Hermitage. The manager Helen Kidd and her staff make you feel so welcome. The Inn attracts guests over and over again with many having visited every year since it opened. The food was amongst the best we had... More

We spent a week at The Hermitage and wish we had stayed longer. It is a haven of peace, beautiful grounds, lovely staff and delicious food. We stayed in a luxury cottage, which was furnished beautifully in the colonial style, and each morning we woke to green vervet monkeys making mischief in the nearby rainforest. Breakfasts were superb (the West... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hermitage is a small plantation inn with an excellent reputation for its charm and warm, West Indian hospitality. The guest rooms are like gingerbread cottages and are styled after the old Planter’s house with a tradition of elegant West Indian style, antiques, mahogany four poster canopy beds, and private verandahs, with swaying hammocks, in an orchard like setting of mango trees and tropical plants. The Hermitage offers tranquility and serenity in its peaceful environment. ... more   less
