We just left the Hermitage, having spent nine nights in the Blue House. We stayed with our two children, ages 8 and 11. I cannot express just how special this place is. We have traveled to mega resorts and many low-key destinations, but the Hermitage will always stick out and hold a special place in our hearts. We woke up every morning to a cool breeze through the screens, rooster calls and monkeys on the roof. We played card games and chess every day in the library and wandered the grounds to watch the monkeys play. We rented a car (a “must” in my opinion) to get around the island and visit the beaches. We spent many afternoons at the beach and would come back to the pool to relax and take in the views of Mount Nevis. The pool is peaceful and quite pleasant. It’s really such a beautiful property. I felt safe driving around alone with the kids while my husband stayed back to work. The WiFi was strong enough for each of us to participate in video conferences without any problems (even from the porch of our cottage). The owners and employees clearly care a lot for the inn and cottages. Everything is uniquely and thoughtfully decorated and laid out. The food was fantastic- especially the pig roast night and pizza night. Don’t miss either of those! Afternoon carrot cake and tea (or the rum punch!) is lovely. The Hermitage Boutique, run by Annie, is awesome- little paintings of the cottages and grounds- tons of tasteful resort wear. The hotel arranged all logistics for arrival and departure and any outings we wanted to take without our rental car. On top of everything, everyone at the Hermitage made our daughter’s birthday so perfect- with a homemade cake and fanfare. I’m sure she’ll never forget it. It was so wonderful to get to know all the other guests from around the world- most of who had been there before and were returning because of their love for the property. We send our sincerest thanks to Richie, Richard, Cadilla, Shawn and the entire Hermitage team for making our nine days in Nevis so wonderful. I hope one day we make it back!…
Spent a week at this wonderful relaxing location. Located on the side of a mountain, it has great views, rooms, pool, staff and dining. Nevis is a small island so you are never very far from the beach, good restaurants and sites. Although unlike other vacations this was just truly relaxing with no need to get anywhere unless you want to. Just can't say enough about the Hermitage and the island of Nevis.
So, where do I start? If you like queuing for breakfast, or buffet food that has been warmed for ages, this is not for you! If you like noise, parties, loud staff and corny entertainment, this is not for you! If you like sitting at all bar, throwing back shots, this probably isn’t for you either, however… If you love peace, serenity, wonderful food, considerate staff and, did I say peace? This IS for you! The Hermitage is lovely, it’s quiet and colonial with pleasant pool and beautifully individually styled lodges. The staff are warm and friendly, there when you need them but discreet too and not at all overbearing. I must name a handful, Candilla, a legend! Knows everything you will need her to know for making your stay perfect. Shaun is a gentleman with a talent for his amazing Rum punch! Rosalind and Tash, they are just lovely, many more people here that I don’t know names of but always smile and say hello. Dinner at the Hermitage is a delight every evening. The quality of food and preparation really is second to none and the use of fresh, local produce apparent with every mouth full. The entertainment… a troop of monkeys, hilarious and keep us entertained every afternoon when they come for their Mango feast! For us, we honestly could not have wished for a more wonderful stay and highly recommend.…
We have loved Hermitage for years. The family that runs the inn and restaurant are second to none. You feel welcome the moment you arrive. Wednesday night is roast pig night, Friday night is pizza night but every night there are great choices on the menu. Local cuisine, vegetarian options, steaks, fabulous soups. Great way to meet expats and locals who live on Nevis too. There is a fabulous gift shop, ask if they can open for you if it’s closed. Beautiful linens and great caftans and dresses and tops for women, men, and children at great price points.
Thank you to Richie & Annie and the entire team at Hermitage for an incredible weekend! Amazing hospitality and truly a place to unwind and relax!! Guest Rooms and Grounds and of course the Food and Beverage were amazing!!
This is the second time I have been back to The Hermitage in three years and would have been back sooner if not for Covid restrictions. It is my favorite place to stay on my favorite Island in the Caribbean. It is a uniquely authentic Caribbean experience located in the cool hills of Gingerland. I actually came here and fell in love with it for the first time 30 years ago. The history, decor, animals, and the well- manicured grounds are simply lovely. The food is fresh and well-prepared using meats, produce and herbs grown on the property. The breakfasts -included in the room price -are swoon- worthy! Fresh juices, homemade yogurt, homemade syrup, scrumptious made from scratch pumpkin pancakes, coconut French toast as well as eggs prepared to your liking are so delicious they are enjoyed by guests and locals alike. The best part of the Hermitage is the staff. Each and every staff member makes an extra effort to make one feel warm and welcomed. The lovely Lupinacci family ( owners) are never to busy for the hundreds of questions from their guests and visitors. Cardiler at the reception desk is the consummate "go-to" concierge and knows the inside scoop for the entire island! For me, its like coming home. It's one of the few places in the world I will keep returning to.…
we stayed at the Hermitage with our kids and grandkids and had just an amazing time... no, it is not a highend city hotel... but it is a highend, beautiful resort on the Island of Nevis.. the atmosphere, ambiance... just amazing... colourful buildings, beautiful rooms/cottages... we (grandparents) had the Loft... a suite.. big balcony with a Hammock... great view of the 50+ goats every night.. and after the goast go to sleep.. 50+ monkeys arrive... and at 6.00 the Rooster wakes up the other Roosters and we have a nice wake up call.. but that was fine.. dining room was great.. on Sunday we attended a luncheon buffet with roasted goat... mmmmm service was exceptional, they really cared for our grandkids.. again... I think it does not have to be the 4 Seasons... Hermitage of coure is different.. but we all loved it and we will be back... the oweer carved the goat... ... and than went table to table and talked to each guest.. same at breakfast time.. we will be back..…
Once again a wonderful break from the dull grey weather in the uk. during Feb. This was my 10th visit to Nevis and every time I’ve either stayed and / or eaten at The Hermitage. I do believe that this the best and nicest hotel on the island having visited the others over time There are special nights and days for the Pig Roast evening, the Goat Roast for a long leisurely lunch on a Sunday and a Pizza night As always, nothing is too much trouble. Strongly recommended. If you stay here you will not be disappointed
Lovely and cosy, slightly old fashioned hotel with great ambiance and quiet quality. Very sweet waitress who was happy to bring us beers to the pool which was perfect for our visit. Little 'gingerbread' chalets dotted around the gardens all with great views. In the hills so a car probably the best option to get around to beches and to see the island.
I don't know where to start because everything in The Hermitage is spectacular. The staff is very friendly, attentive and careful with the details. Richie is the best Manager / host / owner that I have ever met. He was very helpful and went above and beyond to accommodate our group and make us feel at home. Everything absolutely unique from the cottages to the landscape. Spectacular views surrounded by a unique Caribbean landscape. The Hermitage is the perfect spot to be in contact with nature. The authentic Cuban cigars, the roast pig and the family atmosphere was the touch that make this trip an unforgettable experience. I will definitely be back with my family soon. The Hermitage I recommend 100%.
