Perfect Christmas/New Year's trip to Carib Sands -- a well-maintained 3 bldg condo complex w/ individual owners (so each unit is different). The managers (esp. Jessica) went above & beyond w/ advice, help getting rental car (necessary), shopping (they stocked our unit) & even a ride. The pool & beach area were clean, w/ plenty of chairs & nice landscaping. They have bikes for use. There is a pier & 2 story dock used by dive boats (Scuba Shack) & fishing charters. We dove w/ both Scuba Shack & Reef Divers from the Beach Resort (1/2 mile away) -- both excellent. The charters clean their catch at the dock, which attracted tarpons, sharks, turtles & rays -- great to watch at sunset. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit on the 3rd floor in the oldest building (unit 316), which is perpendicular to the beach (providing relief from full afternoon sun), but with unobstructed ocean views over the pool. The 2 newer bldgs (oceanfront) have full sun, altho the newest has covered decks. We had a cathedral ceiling w/ a large loft 2nd bedroom. The furnishings & appliances in our unit were dated, but serviceable. Other units had newer furnishings, so ask what’s available. We had 2 smart TVs that streamed Netflix, etc, since Cayman Brac does not have good cable service. The wi-fi signal was good -- even at the pool. We saw few other guests. Best food: Reef Resort bar; best snorkeling: Buccaneer Reef (10 minutes drive); best non-diving time: ocean cave rappel/climb w/ Rock Iguana (highly recommend). …
Great one bedroom condo with porch looking out at the ocean. Dock close by for diver pick up. Kitchen has a fridge, dishwasher and oven with overhead microwave, plate and utensils provided. Walking distance to two eateries and at least one dive shop.
Overall, this is a nice place to stay. The pool area is well kept and the dock to the swinging hammocks is restful. However, we rented two units and had totally different experiences. The units must be individually owned so one was great, while the other left a lot to be desired. Not sure how you can make sure to get a good unit when booking, but my advice would be to check out the actual room where you will be staying. It's a lot of money if you only get a mediocre unit.
We spent 11 relaxing and peaceful days at this wonderful resort. We had a one bedroom, self-catering, ground floor apartment that was very comfortable and well decorated and maintained. The resort has a lovely pool and wooden pier with hammocks from where the Brac Scuba Shack picked you up. The resort arranged for our car rental at the airport which is essential to get around the island as Cayman Brac is so quiet and unspoilt. The kitchen was very well equipped but if you wanted a break from cooking for yourself you can walk next door to the Captain’s Table or drive half a mile up the road to the Cayman Brac Beach Resort to get a good meal. We loved the tranquillity of Cayman Brac and the resort and were sad to leave.
Great accommodations! We booked through Kathy who could not have been more helpful. Arrived on the 6pm Cayman Air flight and she had someone there to give you a key and answer any questions. Wonderful two bedroom ocean view condo with great amenities. If you are diving with Brac Scuba Shack it is a 1 minute walk down to the boat at the Carib Sands dock for spectacular diving.
The hotel was clean and quiet. We enjoyed our stay. The staff were helpful. I enjoyed going to the rear of the hotel to take photos of the ocean. My next trip to Cayman Brac I will be going back there to stay.
We rented 4 units (two, 3 bedrooms and two, 2 bedrooms). Majority of the rooms were fine - with the exception of 111, the room was dusty and simply smelt as if it had been locked up for months. I mentioned it to front desk and they agreed that this was known and they did try
Everyone is so pleasant and friendly. The beach is well kept and the use of the dock was by far my favorite. We watched the aquatic wildlife, including a nurse shark and sting rays visit the dock and boating area. The fisherman are in and out and the bay is perfect for snorkeling. If you are into relaxation, this is the place.
Stayed a month in Unit 136, two bedroom two bath with French doors leading right onto the beach. Lovely swimming pool with large sun deck as well. Private dock where a full service dive operation that picks you up, with rinse tanks and dry shack on site. A divers’ dream location. This is not a hotel property; these are fully furnished condos with lots of room and modern appliances.
This will be our third stay; the kitchen is always fully stocked with cooking supplies; the rooms are very clean and the view can't be beat. If you are diving with Brac SCUBA Shack, this is the place you want to be. You will be picked up directly from the dock and everything is just so convenient. You will need to eat out or go to the Market Place grocery store but this is by far, the best place to stay whether you are a diver or not. Jeff and Kathy are very accommodating. Already planning for next year!
