This was my second trip to Sunset House and Grand Cayman. The rooms have been updated and are very nice! I like the fact that you have a restaurant on the premises so you do not have to venture out if you don’t want to. The food at My Bar is excellent, with a great selection. The bar staff and wait staff are very friendly and personable. Can’t remember all the names, but Grace and Troy were always on top of everything. The diving is some of the best. You can usually spot a turtle, a sting ray or a nurse shark whichever site you visit. I think my favorite is still Paradise Reef and The Oro Verde wreck. I do enjoy the Kittiwake, but I do not go into the wreck itself. Either way, the dive is still great. We were hoping that the dive staff would be the same from 2019, but the pandemic changed the staffing. But fear not! The current dive staff are just as fantastic. They are very professional and have great personalities! They make every dive fun and enjoyable. Even if you are a chicken like me and don’t do swim-thru’s, they still make sure you have fun. Absolute thank you’s to manager Mel, Adina, Alex, TJ (sorry he took another job after our last boat dive), Sara and of course Captain Tyler. The dive staff at Sunset Divers are the best in my opinion. I plan on returning to Sunset House in the future since it still exceeded my expectations.…
Did a trip in early June 2022. The dive crew is great, Mel runs a tight ship but is also very attentive to visitors with the special needs (I brought my CCR and they helped me to find Nat who provided necessary support). DMs TJ and Alex did awesome job! Thank you to all dive staff! The place itself is very very nice. Some thoughts that make your experience better: - You may want to get a rental car. Yes, they drive on the wrong side of the road and gas is expensive, but if you can deal with the former the latter will more than offset price of taxi. Plus it will allow you to get to nice restaurants and excursions. - In general everything on the island is pricey. Well, you know where you're going to. - Couple of places are in the walking distance, but walking on the wrong side and getting cars coming at you from unexpected angle is an experience too. - Make sure you do one-two shore dives, and a night dive - the mermaid is cute…
Mel, Alex and the dive and boat crew were amazing, so helpful, professional, fun and experienced. They run an amazing dive experience. The hotel staff, the food and the friendly greetings that you get all the tome here just make this an amazing trip and one you wont forget for some time.
I chose this location to learn to dive for several reasons but among them was the fact that it also ran a hotel and dive shop that was away from tourists that weren't divers. The attached restaurant has locals going for regular meals -- says a lot about the food. The dive shop is polite, professional, and Mel runs a tight ship. She also has all the answers that you bring to her. The others, Sarah, Jack, and others are great individuals that really make the stay feel like part of the family than anything else. The rooms are clean, cool, quiet, and the only complaint I had was the shower was not warm enough. Outside of that, for someone that is used to 5 star, first class hotels, this is an amazing find.
After 3 years we were incredibly excited to be back! Sunset lived up to all of the memories and more. It was easy to remember why we love this place so much. Sunset continues to impress with the absolute top of the line staff; Tommy, TJ, Sara and Alex planned the perfect week of brand new dive sites and old favorites. Their knowledge and amazing personalities made this another fantastic trip to Grand Cayman. Troy and Grace were always there with a smile (and cold drink!) when we returned to 'My Bar' and it really just felt like family. I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else when coming to Grand Cayman; we've already found the best. Like always; thank you all for another unforgettable vacation!!
Visited early this July. Sat on bar counter. Staffs were very attentive and quick. Excellent service even though the place was busy. Had chicken curry, samosas which were delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to others.
I can’t say enough amazing things about my week at Sunset House! My husband and I were on a boat with with Sunset Divers staff members Tyler, TJ, and Sarah. They were all so knowledgeable, kind, and attentive to us. Tyler made sure to take our group to the most special and memorable dive spots he could throughout the week. All three of these team members are just awesome people and so fun to chat with between dives. They went out of their way to do small things to assist us to make the week one to remember. The food and drinks at MyBar/Seaharvest were spectacular. The manager recommended the rack of lamb to my husband and it was the best meal he had all week. I personally love the Chicken Korma. Every drink we had was perfectly made. All staff members had great personalities and took care of us. The property itself is stunning. Having the option to take advantage of a shore dive in the afternoon or just rest and relax by the pool is a big perk. This is the most relaxing vacation I’ve been on in years and can’t wait to be back for another dive vacation in the future.…
A nice little dive resort. I was there for a week of diving and it turned into one of my best trips. Not only did the weather and seas provide ideal diving conditions, the dive crews were phenomenal. Tyler my boat captain TJ, Sarah, Alex and New Alex were all great, helpful, lively and friendly. Truly made me feel like we were long time friends. Legitimately a fantastic trip overall. Thank you all!
The hotel was perfect-clean, quiet and well kept. I am a relatively new diver and was there to get my advanced open water. I definitely felt that my inexperience was an inconvenience to some of the staff. That being said, I still loved the dives and met wonderful people who were helpful. Shout out to Sarah who is a wonderful addition to the staff. If you are getting your AOW beware that the first couple of days has 4-5 dives a day.
I visited Sunset House in May 2022. The rooms are very basic but comfortable with good AC. The dive masters did a really great job of showing us unique creatures for both macro and wide angle shooting. The DM's were all very knowledgeable about each dive site and they put an extra emphasis on safety. Mel and her crew did a great job. And shout out to TJ for the entertaining stories on the dive boat! I highly recommend Sunset House for diving on Grand Cayman!
