We had a marvelous week at Sea Orchard Retreat. The property is gorgeous, right on the water and there are kayaks and paddleboards available for use. The cottage was lovely, very comfortable and well appointed, with a fully stocked kitchen. The area is quiet and peaceful. No public transportation, so you do need a car if you want to go into town or to the more popular beaches.
Our family and friends celebrated my wife's 70th birthday and we couldn't have been more pleased with Sea Orchard Retreat. The accommodations were perfect as we were able to house thirteen celebrants with their own space and we had enough for communal activities as well. Everyone had a great time, and I would highly recommend Sea Orchard Retreat for any family or corporate outing. We will be going back.
We were impressed with Sea Orchard from the secured entry gate, driving through a short driveway. We stayed in Papaya Cottage. Vic met us at arrival and showed us around the property. There was another couple on the property for part of our stay. The bed was so comfortable we slept like babies. The kitchen was well equipped. We had everything needed for daily breakfast. We felt so relaxed and the views of the water are amazing. The property is super quiet. The beach area was not great but we found cemetery beach close by and Seven mine beach is not a far drive. We ate at Papagallo, Tukka and West Bay diner. We were also very impressed with the quick responses from Fiona and Vic they were so attentive. There are some updates that are needed but they were pretty minor.
What an amazing experience! Without exception, the guests LOVED our extended wedding weekend at Sea Orchard. So nice to have the property to ourselves occupying all four wonderful cottages, and having a pool and hot tub to ourselves. The wedding was held on the lawn at one end with vows overlooking the ocean. Overhead strings of lights that we had installed for the event made the area beautiful by night as well. Fantastic photos captured the unforgetable experience. The cottages were nicely decorated. Amenities provided everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable. The area was quiet and so relaxing. My only regret is that I didn't get a chance to use the provided ocean kayaks and paddle boards - we ran out of time! Friendly and helpful owner and staff.
Judging by reviews written 2-3 years ago, and by the photos on all of the websites that list this property, Sea Orchard Retreat was once quite the luxurious spot; a departing guest said she had been there years earlier and it was amazing, and that she hopes with some sprucing up it will return to its former glory. Being closed for months due to Covid, just starting to reopen when we were there (which we weren't aware of), withstanding a hurricane last August that did some damage to the grounds, and reportedly experiencing a change of ownership at some point seems to have resulted in a perfect storm of deferred maintenance that, if and when it is seen to, will bring this place back up to the high standards it once met nd to the photos that illustrate the place. Issues such as a loose pool rail, a few broken lounge chairs and umbrellas, torn pillows on the outdoor furniture, lack of sufficient lighting inside our cottage, a front door that didn't close and lock properly, an electrical box on our porch that was hanging off the wall by its wires, a window in the living area that wouldn't close so I stuffed the gap with paper towels, etc. All can be fixed fairly easily. They were working to clean the grounds while we were there, cutting down coconuts and dead fronds and picking up leaves, which was good to see. The beach is really not usable by its nature to play, sunbathe, or swim--it is only a few feet wide and covered with seaweed and plastic trash, and it is very rocky. But the view of the sea from the cottages is lovely. Pros: The kitchen was well-equipped with nice appliances and the pool area is private and will be even nicer when spruced up. Cons: The mattresses were very soft and the window shades in some of the rooms were broken. Stains on the rugs could be remedied by buying new ones and otherwise the cottages, at least ours, Avocado, could use some sprucing up; otherwise they are well laid out and spacious. The location is great, near some wonderful restaurants, yet away from the crowds at Seven Mile Beach; Cemetery Beach is nearby for swimming. There is usually someone on the grounds who can help with issues but not a main office per se. We wish them a brighter future when the property and cottages are brought back to their former glory. There is great potential there. Vic, the woman who seemed to be around the most, directing the property workers, was very helpful and nice.…
The place is tranquil and peaceful. We love the ocean front view. It has everything you need to relax, recharge and destress 😍😍 Fiona is very helpful and friendly too! The pool is also very refreshing.
My friends and I booked Mango Cottage for a stay cay in october. I feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to stay at Sea Orchard Retreat. The cottage and facilities far exceeded our expectations and the location was beyond dreamy. I've lived on the island for a few years but my stay at the retreat brought me closer to the dream of caribbean island living then I have ever come before. Waking up to the sound of the waves lapping on the shore, the smell of the sea salt in the air, hermit crabs bimbling across the sand, palm trees where I could hang my hammock....it was all just perfect. Our host was really helpful and accommodating too. Top tip if you really want to indulge - my friends and I arranged massages at the cottage with anytime wellness who don't charge a travel fee for West Bay! Bonus! My only regret for my stay was that we didn't stay longer.…
The owner/manager was friendly and attentive. The cottages are highly functional and wonderfully quaint. The grounds were well kept and relaxing. A hidden gem in West Bay! We loved our stay there and would happily return - great for couples and for a family retreat.
Had a relaxing experience at the sea Orchard. The villas are beautiful and comfortable. Perfect for retreats and if you want to break away from the norm. The tranquil atmosphere have me the opportunity to think, reflect and prepare an assignment. Love the environment. Thank you Fiona for the opportunity to experience your tourism product. Hope to visit again soon. From Tanique Dunbar
Sea Orchard is simply the most magical retreat! Such a perfect setting right in front of the ocean and the villas are so well equipped and comfortable. I had the best birthday weekend and I can’t wait to go back again!
