Saba Rock was devastated by a hurricane and was recently rebuilt in a beautiful way. Our party of 6 had a breathtaking sunset meal in early November 2021, approx 2 weeks after the grand reopening. It was a fairly cloudy evening, but the the clouds for the sunset were mostly in the right place.

Our server was Fredrick and he took wonderful and thoughtful care of us as we dined on jerk spiced snapper, carpaccio and lobster. He was kind enough to split our check and regaled us with stories of his home country of Jamaica.

The bar and lounge on the second floor has incredible views of the bay, lounge seating, a pool table and great atmosphere.

We would highly recommend the experience at Saba Rock as they rebuild their resort.

Absolutely loved it! Excellent service, lovely food & clean, hot showers! (For a small charge)
They even moored our dinghy at the jetty directory opposite the table we were eating at for us which I thought was a lovely touch.
Stunning setting for dinner.
And it was fun to feed the tarpon,
So glad we moored there.
A very cool place indeed.

The food and service was as great as you might expect when first laying eyes on this beautifully designed property that was exceptionally well built.

In particular, as we were enjoying great drinks and a wonderful meal, the sun began to move, pushing through some clouds and started beaming directly into my eyes. Almost as soon as I first began to squint, the wait staff - without being asked, began to reposition a large umbrella to block this intrusive beam!

I can't wait to go back.

Stunning location marred by disappointing food and weak service. We raised our concerns to the manager who acted to adjust the cost of the bill, but for these prices and this location, that shouldn't even be something that we needed to do. It was simple issues, undercooked food, and drink orders not showing up till the end of the meal. The bar staff before the meal were great, but the waitstaff, the cooking, and the attitude of the manager left a lot to be desired. To be honest, there are better options in North Sound and on VG more generally.

We are very sorry with your experience and have since put in place a new menu which has been very well received by all our guests. I have spoken to staff concerning service standards of service. We would certainly want you to have a much better experience if you are in the North Sound and please contact me directly that I may know that you will be coming back to Saba Rock.

Saba rock is gorgeous - it’s beautiful and the architect is neat, but the despite this, the service leaves you with a sour taste and terrible experience.

The wait staff is incredibly rude - it felt like ordering drinks/meals was an inconvenience to them. The staff is as incompetent as they are rude - they tried to refill our water through our waste line and were careless and hazardous when docking the boat, and ultimately knocked up the front of our boat. What a mess!

Let’s be real: it’s not hard to find a gorgeous spot in the BVI (literally go ANYWHERE else) and so the only thing that differentiates one place from another is the service and experience. Saba Rock failed miserably.

Save yourselves the “sour taste” and don’t waste your time or joy here.

Dear nevertb2021, I am very sorry that you received rude service. As you can see from other reviews here on TripAdvisor this is not our norm nor the way we do business. I would ask that you come back to see us and to personally reach out to me with any member of my staff and I will personally take care of your reservation.

Tomorrow a new set of mugs will arrive to be offered some of the worst food in the ugliest restaurant in the BVI. So they couldn’t care less about what they serve you . Burnt, dried out meat in a so called hamburger, dry rock hard tough chicken. Probably the worse and cheapest French fries ever. Our party was 8 everyone sent them back uneaten. They couldn’t care less.

Someone thought it would be a good idea to decorate a restaurant in the Caribbean in the style of of a 1920s workshop in Pittsburgh then paint the outside a miserable shade of grey.

Avoid absolutely, it’s just depressing.

Hello augustusd2014, I was very dismayed in reading your review. The architecture has been applauded the world over in many articles for the innovative style and modernism as well as the Caribbean nuances and taking into account the "Pirate" background of Saba Rock but perhaps it was not to your personnel liking. I asked my staff about a table that had sent "everything" back. My managers would have been the first to have addressed the food issues with the kitchen and table immediately as you can see from other reviews on this platform this is not our way of doing business. I would ask that if you come back this way in the future to contact me directly so that I may make sure of a seamless experience.

The re development is amazing. We had drinks and dinner there and were very well looked after. The food was good but very expensive for what it was. The service was good. Wearing masks to move around was compulsory. It is worth remembering that if you come by boat and want to moor up on a bouy it is worth booking one in advance. If you take a Saba Rock bouy you will get free water and ice though wiring up for the service might put you off. All in a it is a lovely luxury stop, that is greatly improved from before the hurricane.

We were not supposed to go there. I procrastinated booking our trip on another island and before I knew it the full week was not available and I had already purchased our plane tickets. I went ahead and booked 5 nights on the other island and began trying to figure out where to stay for the remaining 2 nights. The easiest thing to do would have been to stay on Tortola but I wasn’t really feeling that. I saw someone’s older post on Instagram showing the nearly finished Saba Rock Resort and that sold me.

This place was completely rebuilt after hurricane Irma destroyed it. You can tell they spent a lot of money on the rebuild. It is solid and beautifully decorated with quality products. We were there for a day and a half, just the right amount of time for people like us who are not boaters. There are 7 rooms and 2 suites. We stayed in the beautiful spacious Starfish suite with a huge terrace. If you don’t want to stay there, go for a drink and/or to grab a bite to eat in their open-air restaurant/bar. There are even a couple of British phone booths (love!). It’s all about the experience.

They have a boat that will come get you at Gun Creek on VG. It’s a 10-minute complimentary boat ride that runs every hour.

We stopped here for an afternoon and moored overnight at Saba Rock. The atmosphere is amazing. Its re opened since Irma and everything looks fresh. Every day at 5:00pm they have a feeding of the tarpen fish and that was fun. You go to the edge of the dock, and someone comes out with a container of fish pieces and you just drop it in and the fish go nuts!

The drinks were good, service was slow, but hey - we are on "island time" so that was fine. We sat there for a few hours drinking and having some bar food and that was good too. Cute shop to buy "Saba Rock" merch and everyone was very friendly.

This is the best place to visit in the North Sound of Virgin Gorda. It is a fun, relaxing and beautiful place to visit. We found all the staff to very friendly and helpful. The bar tenders were all very nice and treat you like you are on vacation. The food menu offered a wide variety wide of selections and it was very good. Prices are reasonable for the area and not crazy. Large selection of hard liquor and beer. We visited during the day mid-week and had a blast. It is totally worth visiting. An absolute must see if you visit Virgin Gorda. The only area of caution would be the stairsin front of the dock are hard to see...so pay attention when you are on the dock.

Hi Will, I can't believe no one answered your question. This is kind of a remote area, so not a lot of people go here compared to others locations. There was/is a north sound express ferry that you could look into that leaves from Tortola, or the other option is to head over to virgin gorda, taxi to gun creek and take the saba ferry from there. On the Saba Resort Website there is a phone number to call for the ferry.
