Go! This is an extraordinary resort.

My wife and I stayed at Little Dix Bay for a week in May 2023 for our 35th Anniversary. When my wife suffered a dislocated shoulder after falling off of her bike, our Butlers, Chenelle & Hubert went to extraordinary lengths to take care of us.

Hubert accompanied us every step of the way for 7+ hours starting at 6:30PM thru our clinic visit on the island, two ambulance rides, two boat rides and during the Tortola hospital time where the Doctor could address her shoulder dislocation. Chenelle also came to the Tortola hospital to coordinate with Hubert and see how we were. They guided us thru the BVI medical system, recognizing that the hospital’s boat transfer to Tortola would not return us to Virgin Gorda until the next day, so they arranged for a taxi to take us to your Tortola dock where the resort’s boat was waiting to take us directly back to the Rosewood.

For our entire stay, both before and particularly after the fall, Chenelle and Hubert provided a level of service that went beyond providing for our basic needs as guests; treating us like members of their own family. We have stayed a number of Rosewood resorts over the years and have had personal butlers assigned to us but the care, genuine concern and friendship we experienced here with Chenelle & Hubert was something unique in our experience and shall not be forgotten.

Indeed, our experience at Rosewood Little Dix Bay with all levels of staff … from the chef at the Reef House, the restaurant maître d’s, the waiters, the beach/pool attendants … was something quite extraordinary. This resort has a staff that regularly exceeds their job descriptions of providing good service to the resort’s guests. They enlivened our days with their warm greetings, joyous spirit and good humor. We have never received or given as many hugs on a vacation as we did that week. The beauty of the resort's physical environment is equally matched by the beauty of the atmosphere created by the staff.

The extra effort it might take to travel to Virgin Gorda is well worth it.

Little Dix is situated on a 1/2 mile beach with crystal clear water in a protected bay. The resort offers the best of everything - beautiful scenery, luxurious accommodations, and the opportunity to be as relaxed or active as you wish. We spent four nights in a large room with a four poster bed, indoor and outdoor showers, and a private outdoor seating area. The bed, couches, beach loungers, towels, linens (you name it) were all sumptuous. The resort personnel could not have been friendlier or more helpful during our stay. Unfortunately, we do not recall all of the staff names, but Dirvan and Shanell (spellings?) are two names that come to mind of those who made our stay exceptional.

We snorkeled off the beach with sea turtles, a sting ray, and a plethora of tropical fish. Somewhat of concern we did see two lion fish (an invasive fish that could destroy native fish populations and hurt the reef recovery after Hurricane Irma). We also paddle boarded, kayaked, and sailed on the resort's catamaran. Again, all of this equipment was top of the line and in excellent condition. We used the fitness center and played pickle ball. The tennis pro was very friendly and helpful.

We rented a Moke one day and drove out to the Baths early in the morning and enjoyed hiking the caves and snorkeled in Devil's Bay. We also took a boat ride with Ian on a snorkel trip over to one of the Dogs where we saw a vast variety of sea plants, coral, octopus, tropical fish, and a shark.

This was our first trip back to Little Dix since 2014. A lot has changed in the past 8 years!

On the plus side, this is still one of the most beautiful resorts I’ve seen. The beach is a soft white sanded pleasure and the grounds are lush and perfectly maintained. The food is much improved from the old Little Dix, with each restaurant having its own taste profile. Breakfasts are a standout and we really enjoyed food at the Sugar Mill and Reef House. Massages at the spa were expertly done and overall, the staff was enthusiastic and helpful.

And yet, we missed the slightly more relaxed ambience of our prior stays. The Reef House replaced a beach shack at the pier, and while the food is more sophisticated, the pizza and whatever fish was available that day was always good. Perhaps it’s a by product of covid, but there really isn’t a good beach bar any longer. The Rum Room is not open in the afternoons and doesn’t have a sit down bar, just tables. The old bar was a great place to meet guests and hear some maritime adventures from the boating crowd who were passing through. The bar and food service at the beach was good but it doesn’t fill the space that a good beach bar would.

Finally, the butler service still has some gaps which appear to be from miscommunications between butlers and the rest of the service staff. Our dinner reservations were either incorrect or missing a few nights, the date we should schedule covid tests prior to departure was incorrect, directions for departure were different depending upon source, and our final bill charged us for breakfast when it was included in our daily rate. None of these slip ups were a big deal to resolve and our butlers, once we pointed out the error, were gracious and very quick to resolve them. They also did not detract from our overall vacation experience, which was terrific. We also understand that it many ways, Little Dix is still experiencing some growing pains.

We do plan on returning next year and we’re looking forward to seeing what another year of working through the details will bring

Feb 1 thru Feb 7. Rooms and accommodations were very nice. Beds, pillow, sheets were great. The beach and the view awesome. The service was not! Our rooms were so new that there were no trash cans in the bathroom or room. We requested and it took 2 days for them to put them in the room. The website advertises 3 restaurants. Only 2 were open. Farm to table not open due to the garden was not ready. Website advertises they have scuba, sailing, etc. and they do not. The service in the restaurant was very poor. Could not even keep a water glass filled. Its seemed like no one was supervision. Food was very good, especially the lamb chops, the menu needs to be expanded if you are eating there for a whole week. The service on the beach was poor. We requested towels twice for over an hour and never received them, this happened multiple days. They have service buttons on the umbrellas on the beach and you push it and no one comes. I do not know if upper management understand the expectation that comes with the Rosewood name. Its not the Ritz. Not sure I would go back until it improves and then I would still be skeptical

We were so excited to celebrate our anniversary, again, (after the rebuild), at Little Dix Bay Resort. We had missed it so much, after Hurricane Irma destroyed so much of the island, and we waited and watched the website, booking our stay as soon as it opened. It did not disappoint! Everyone was so gracious and happy to welcome us back! The staff worked so hard to make our stay wonderful, and courteously asked us how they could improve. The food was so very delicious, and we felt like it was even better than when we were last there in 2015. Beach service was really stepped up, too!! The pictures don’t really do it justice, as it was so unbelievably gorgeous there and the camera can’t really capture it’s full beauty. (And it only allows 10 photos! 🤣). We spent our days relaxing, exercising in the beautiful fitness center, hiking, and lounging on the beach- reading, or floating in those gorgeous aquamarine waters, and of course, eating and drinking!! It’s worth the time it takes to get there (2 planes, 2 cabs, 2 boats for us- because I’m afraid to fly in a teeny plane from St. Thomas!). But, on our trip home, we discovered the air conditioned ferries from Road Town on Tortola to St Thomas- so much more economical than a private boat, and very comfortable! We can’t wait to go back next year! ❤️❤️ We are so sentimental about this beautiful vacation spot, since we spent our honeymoon there in 2002. We are so thrilled THEY ARE BACK!

We spent a week at Little Dix quite by accident. Due to the surge in Covid during the month of July in the BVI, we were "diverted" to Little Dix because of one worker testing positive where we were originally staying and had to shut down to test and deep clean. I had known about Little Dix for the 20 years that I've been travelling to the BVI, but had never stayed there.

The resort is truly 5 star. The grounds are kept up like a country club and are perfectly manicured like a golf course. The rooms are luxurious. The butler service is unmatched, as is the service on the beach. Everything you could ever want is at your fingertips and, if it's not, the butlers will get it for you.

And then there's the food. Due to covid restrictions, all of the meals were served in the Pavilion with a rotating menu from the three on site restaurants. That was fine. However, food is pricey. $19 for a bowl of soup, $31 for a hamburger, $10 for a bottle of water, $6 for a cup of coffee, etc....and many upcharges. The food is adequate. It was very good, but certainly not worthy of the prices that they charge. Without alcohol [or dessert], our food bill averaged $450/day for the two of us. That adds up very quickly. A displaced family of four just didn't budget that much for food and had to find a cab driver to get them food from outside of the resort....because four hamburgers were over $120+++. However, if you are PLANNING on staying there, you would probably have been aware of the food prices already.

So, in conclusion, a beautifully manicured property. All of the service you could possibly want and then some. A gorgeous beach at your disposal. Rooms that let you spread out to your hearts content. Five star from start to finish. No question about it. But it wasn't what we had planned for and was not our vibe. However, we appreciated the fact that they were able to take in about a dozen misplaced guests.

This is a difficult review to write as we wanted our experience to be truly outstanding. In some respects it was but in too many areas it was not yet up to Rosewood standards. Part of the problem is that the hotel opened up only two months before we arrived after a multi year renovation and much of the staff was still learning their roles. While I am only giving the hotel an average rating we will likely come back if we see that the ratings on TA improve.

Positive aspects: the grounds and the beach are truly beautiful. The beach staff was fantastic and delivered first class service. The ocean view suite we had was spacious. I did not like the furniture as it was low to the ground and not comfortable for a person like me who is 6'4". I felt like I was in munchkin land.

Negative aspects:

Room service was spotty. We had breakfast in our room each day and during our 8 day trip 3 of the breakfasts were not right. They had either the wrong or incomplete order. Very frustrating to get coffee but they forget to bring coffee cups.

Restaurants: The hotel has three restaurants. Our favorite was the Reef which is at the end of the pier where the boat docks. We had a few meals at the Pavilion but we did not find the food as good as the Reef. Another problem with the Pavilion is that most of the dining chairs are too low to the ground. Again, not comfortable for a person of my size.

Butler service: This is something new to me where literally everything you do in terms of meal reservations, special requests, breakfast orders go through this one indivdual. Personally I didn't like it. Much prefer the old way where you have a concierge desk..etc. Also, in our case, we were going back to the USA on a private jet from the Tortola airport and I asked our butler where the private jets leave from. He told me to go to the main terminal and our pilots would find us. Fortunately on the way over we checked with our van driver who took us from the LDB boat to the airport and he took us to the FBO which was before the main terminal. Had I not checked with the van driver we would have been let off in the wrong place.

Last point: We had an ocean view suite but did not realize at the time of booking that this would be on the second floor of a two story building. My wife, who is physically challenged, had a very difficult time getting up and down the stairs especially since there were no hand rails. In the future we will insist on a ground floor room.

I truly hope LDB gets their act together as we would like to return.

Little Dix Bay has one of the best beach set ups I have ever experienced. The sand and water are second to none. The chairs are widely spaced out and each room has its own beach chairs. It is such a simple concept more resorts should do it. When we left ,the resort was full. However you would never know. The Beach drops offs with a picnic lunch are a real treat and should not be missed. The water is perfect. The history of the resort is fascinating. I believe they have succeeded in modernizing a classic hotel. The staff are eager to please and want you to be happy. You can tell they are happy and proud of the resort.

We first came to LDB in 1990 for our honeymoon and have been many many times since. This trip was for our 30th anniversary rescheduled from March 2020 when COVID arrived. We celebrated our 32nd anniversary instead of our 30th. We loved all the changes made with the upgrades. We were in room 40 a beachfront cottage about 5 seconds from the beach. This is the area we have usually stayed in and is our preferred spot. The rooms have been tastefully upgraded with modern décor and white with navy accents with a large comfy couch. The bathroom has a toilet, bidet, 2 separate sinks, inside and outdoor shower. Our room had a private lanai with chairs, table, and comfy sofa chair with ottoman for 2. There is a large selection of snacks, drinks, and alcoholic beverages at the mini bar. Ice is brought daily along with replenishing the bottled water. The addition of “Butlers” is a huge enhancement! There were 3 butlers assigned to us for the duration of our stay. They assisted with everything we needed from a rental jeep to our dinner reservations to COVID tests, and we communicated by WhatsApp. The butler service was prompt, efficient and friendly even If I texted at 11pm. Thank you Aslon, Chantelle and Jarvis! The food was excellent in The Sugar Mill, Pavilion and Reef House. We had almost all our meals at the resort except when we were exploring the island. Our favorite part of the day is the expansive breakfast buffet! Masks were required when you were filling your plate at the buffet tables. We loved the beach drink/food service and lounge chairs (with covers). Lucy was a delight bringing her daily goodies to us on the beach. I miss the large Royal Palms that hurricane Irma destroyed but the overall grounds look very beautiful with the addition of more sidewalks through the rooms and villas. We were very pleased to see the gardens with fresh fixings for the restaurants. We had a wonderful time talking with Francis the head gardener on what he was growing. The turtles and goats were fun to watch, too! Maybe when we return there will be fresh goat cheese! Having the chickens in the coop is a good idea for fresh eggs. We never minded them walking around the grounds in the past. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed to talking to employees who were still there from before the closure and children of employees we used to know who now work there as their parents or other family members did. We were able to share stories of how it was at LDB in years past. My husband and I have been to the BVI more than any other vacation location and we love it. We bareboat sail the islands or rent a large home when there are a lot of us, but our favorite island is Virgin Gorda and resort is Little Dix Bay - it feels like home to us. We will be back! Thank you everyone at LDB for a wonderful vacation!

My family & I had the most fantastic time this week at LDB, our favorite place in the world and our 3rd visit in 10 years. The job they did with the renovation is absolutely stunning and complements the beautiful setting so perfectly.

The Covid protocols were also such a breeze! I was nervous about this but the whole process was extremely seamless and easy and didn’t detract from our experience one bit. We actually felt super safe knowing that everyone on the island had gone through the same rigorous screening.

The resort is so perfectly set up for families traveling with babies - having the rooms so close to the beach was really so convenient and even allowed my husband and I some quiet relaxing time on the beach while the baby slept!

Also, even though the restaurants don’t technically open for dinner until 6, we arrived each night at 5:45 and we were always graciously welcomed and with our orders put in at 6pm, we were able to enjoy dinner and be back in our room for baby’s bedtime by 7pm no problem. Very very efficient and quick service! I was truthfully a little nervous about dinner interfering with bedtime but every night it was a seamless experience.

I also really wanted to highlight some of the INCREDIBLE team members we got to know this week.

First, our butlers Reddy & Pradeep were so great! So incredibly responsive and helpful, the service levels they provided were very very high.

Next, Mikel & Portland at the beach!! So spirited and funny while also being very service-oriented, we really enjoyed getting to know them this week. Donna at the beach also noticed one day that my husband had gotten badly sunburned so she went out of her way to bring us fresh aloe for his sunburn which was incredibly thoughtful.

Finally, the team members in F&B were amazing and were so sweet with my son! In situations like at meals where babies can be challenging, truly every single person we interacted with could not have been friendlier or more doting on him, providing him with various kids utensils, toys, his own special cups, etc. We really felt the love at all our meals!! I wanted to include a special shout out to Marcus & Sandra who went above and beyond to be so thoughtful and sweet, even Marcus taking our son for a little stroll under the lanterns on our last night. Also, among many others, Khoy, Helen, Jamie, Caroline, Kesha, and Nadia, who sang to my son with her beautiful voice the nicest farewell song on our last day. We will 1000% be back!
