Just returned from an eight night stay at Rosewood little DIX Bay. Really cannot say enough great things about this resort and the staff. The renovation is gorgeous the property is more beautiful than ever. We stayed in the grand pool suite and was it ever grand. I wouldn’t change one thing about the room it was perfect. I believe this was new construction added to the property when Rosewood took over in 2017. The attention to detail and having it blend in with the original resort was outstanding. I thought the tile wall in the bathroom mimicking the original rock walls from Rockefellers “rock resort“ architecture was a very nice touch. I am including pictures of the bathroom because it is not showing on the website and it is gorgeous. The outdoor shower has the original rock style wall and you can see the interior modern take on this. The resort itself is situated on a lovely private bay with a white sand beach and ample shade for those who want it. We were blessed with gorgeous sunsets every night we stayed. The resort is just getting going after a Covid shut down so the occupancy was low while we visited. Nonetheless The resort was staffed fully with every amenity available to the few guests who were there. It is very challenging to get there due to restrictions from the BVI government, but it was so worth it. The butler feature really makes the experience special. We had a tagteam of two highly qualified service professionals, Prada and Rodney made sure that everything we needed or wanted was accommodated in the most gracious way. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a pristine relaxing place to reconnect And recharge post pandemic!

Over sold and under delivered, but the beauty can’t be beat. This is an expensive hotel and is therefore held to that standard. As usual here is the good, the bad and the ugly THE GOOD The property and its location, especially the beach, are worth going for. Period. Nothing in this review diminishes that. However, as you read further I will discuss the service issues which permeate the resort so frequently, it can feel like the beach is a passing thought. The Room We had Room 71 which was a junior suite and was located with a bit of an ocean view above the tree line. The bed is to die for and the entire room is well designed, spacious and lovely. Did I mention the bed!? The Beach Is quiet and peaceful and virtually waveless. The sand is like sugar and melts beneath your feet. It’s kept well manicured with sufficient chairs. The Spa It was beautiful. Reasonably priced. Great service and massages. The Butler Service Al and Reddy were excellent. They work non-stop to make your stay better. From start to finish, the best part of the experience. Read below for baggage struggles and lack of handling that soured parts of this. The Food The food throughout was pretty good. But nothing up to the prices. Absent the Paella at the Sugar Mill Restaurant, most was pretty average. But it doesn’t qualify as bad. When you take into account the prices, it’s harder to stomach. The Housekeeping Was excellent. THE BAD Some of these are hotel related. Some are simply post-CoVid related. Regardless, if you’re deciding to head to the BVIs all are worth knowing. The Entry Getting into the British Virgin Islands is no treat. For a vaccinated person you must apply for a health certificate including a PCR test within 5 days of travel. You must give them every piece of information imaginable. Then once you get there none of it seems to matter. Once you come off a plane (one that flew Lax, to Miami, to San Juan Puerto Rico BVI) you get to go through 4 stations to get out of the airport. Most are duplicitous, extraordinarily slow and manned by staff that would rather talk to each other than get you through the line. There was a tiny plane of 24 people and it took nearly 90 minutes with no other travelers around. Everything is hand written and documented at least three separate times. Every piece of the info had already been collected online prior to arrival. To add insult to injury, the airport custom staff just couldn’t maintain a single ounce of kindness, understanding or courtesy. For that alone, I would never return. I put this under the bad because it is not the fault of the hotel but it is something to be aware of. THE UGLY The Service (outside the butlers) The service at the hotel was lackluster and slow when it decided to show up at all. From the pool to the beach to the restaurants. You had to beg for attention when any was available to beg for. The pool had no attendant, no towels, and no service. Outside of one female attendant who was amazing, we never saw another person despite between 5-10 guests there at any one time. The restaurants were little different. Specials were forgotten. Orders mis delivered. And for the prices, it was unforgivable. If you’re charging $25 a drink, make sure the drink is right. If a $10 bottle of rose stateside is being charged $120 at the restaurant don’t make us repeatedly serve ourselves. This was so consistent among the staff it was clearly systemic. The Baggage Debacle My bag was lost by Silver Airlines. They are full partner with American and my bag checked from LAX to EIS. It was dropped in San Juan. None of that is the hotel’s fault. What they failed to do about it was. Since this was a Caribbean airline, the hotels offer to help was appreciated. Sadly, the offer was as far as it went. I am a big guy and the clothes in the bag aren’t easily replaced. The bag was gone three nights of a 4 night stay. I was promised it was coming and that they were in touch. That was a lie. Nobody could give me a name or a person who was spoken to or even the person who was attempting to get the bag. I asked to speak to the general manager. Refused. I asked for the name. Refused. I got the head butler who couldn’t do a thing. I finally spent two hours on the phone with American who located the bag which had been sitting in the Silver Baggage office where it had been unmoved for three days and was delivered the next morning. The lack of handling and the refusal to provide supervisor’s information was beyond frustrating. OVERALL The juice simply isn’t worth the squeeze. Between the horrific entry requirements to the lack of service, rooms with taxes and tips that too $1500 a night minimum need better service. I’m convinced that When service charges of 15% are included it gives the staff very little reason to go above and beyond. I expected better. Sadly, it didn’t deliver.

This resort will take you to another level of experience in every way possible. First class all the way from the rooms, beach, staff, food and location. We took our family vacation and did not want to leave!!!) We will definitely come back and make sure to stay longer.

After nearly two years of not being able to travel, my Wife and I decided to follow the current trend a do a "staycation" on Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands. We chose Rosewood Little Dix Bay Resort. Somewhere we had been to on many occasions for lunch or dinner, but somewhere we had never stayed. We chose a one bedroom suite, which comes with a plunge pool and butler service. We were not disappointed. Spacious with separate ensuite bedroom with indoor & outdoor showers, lounge area, walk-in closet and bar/coffee area. A good size outdoor deck leads to the oversized plunge pool with an unencumbered view of the Caribbean Sea and Virgin Gorda Peak. The suite was very well equipped with all of the amenities you would expect from a Rosewood 5 star resort and tastefully decorated with a coastal chic ambience. Varun our Butler proved to be an added bonus and was very attentive , courteous and efficient. A real asset to the Resort and a genuinely nice guy. We ate in all three of the resorts restaurants on different occasions during out stay. The Pavillion for an indulgent breakfast and a wonderful Indian inspired dinner. The Sugarmill for a lovely lunch and the Reef House for a marvelous dinner only inches from the beach and with a spectacular Sunset as a back-drop to our evening.
