We chose this villa for the romanticism it exudes, for the garden, for the atmosphere that was transmitted in the pictures on the rental websites...but after I chose it, I saw disastrous reviews on tripadvisor and my heart sank and I doubted the choice. We arrived here and I don't regret the choice for a second...Bon Reco villa it's indeed extremely romantic, the garden is a dream, the villa is imprinted with the patina of time... maybe the furniture is not too modern and perfect... but we live daily in a house that is modern and for a perfect holliday that's exactly what we were looking for...a forgotten time in which the passage of time is felt. We will definitely come back again and again. And we really enjoyed that the sun is not bathing the rooms all day and it's a little bit darker than other villas...the kids slept much more better without the air condition on during the day...in august... Remember...if you are searching for a modern villa...Bon Reco is not the one you are searching for. Bon Reco is for romantic families...…
We inadvertently booked two 3 bedroom suites, which the hotel acknowledged was a mistake. They knew we only needed one suite. Upon arrival, they said they had already credited the account. Turns out that is not true. They never did credit it. It was a booking mistake that was clearly in error and the hotel would not honor the credit. We also left a personal belonging there of which I sent my UPS number to them. Seems like that got lost in the mail! Never received. Extremely disappointing on all levels.
Started our sailing vacation by staying a couple of nights at Fort Recovery - you are right on (and sometimes over) the beach. Beautiful location. Rooms are neat and clean - not very modern. - but was a nice place to stay,
I had the pleasure of staying at Fort Recovery for a few days on business this past week and it was nothing short of magical. It feels like a home away from home - in paradise. Aside from the beach walk-out porch with the most beautiful view of the ocean and St. John across the way, my favorite part of the room was the "personality." The art pieces seemed to all have stories...hand picked from travels around the world, I assume. There was a small library across the wall in the living space filled with well-read books from interior design to Dan Brown novels. Perhaps it was the sense of trust that I enjoyed the most about the room - the feeling like I was invited into a neighbor's home. The owner Anita is an absolute joy. She is a natural born entertainer with jaw-dropping stories and a way of being that makes you feel like family. Her welcoming, friendly soul sets the tone for all of her staff. Get ready for "good mornings" and "good evenings" wherever you go on site. The Fort itself is my favorite part about the property. My 5 year old son (through video chat) was so excited to see "the princess castle" - he kept asking me to take him there. One evening after the sunset, I went on a walk along the beach and ended up at the Fort. A motion light came on and the Fort lit up all of the sudden - it was absolutely magical and jaw dropping with the sound of the waves in the background. What Anita created at Fort Recovery over the past 50 years is something special. I feel refreshed and inspired. I will be back with my family for a much longer stay next time. I'm already booking my next trip!…
Average at best... not walkable to anywhere. Beautiful views. AC unit only in the bedroom. “Restaurant” closed when I arrived at 8pm. Keurig coffee next morning in same restaurant. As I was enjoying my Keurig coffee on the porch of the restaurant some lady was screeching at the top of her lungs at another person. I learned that this was the owner yelling at an employee. Sad.... My company organized my stay here. Will let them know to not utilize this place again.
My family and I just returned to the US after a nine day vacation in the BVI. We stayed in a three bedroom villa at Fort Recovery and it was a wonderful experience. The rooms were neat, clean, and comfortable. Each evening, when we returned, we noticed that the rooms had been cleaned and made immaculate by the cleaning crew. The view from our villa was made beautiful by the blue waters of the Caribbean Sea behind. There is a beach behind the villa with beach chairs and a section of the beach where we enjoyed swimming and snorkeling. What impressed us the most was how caring, polite and courteous everyone at Fort Recovery were. We met with Anita, the owner, on a few occasions and she was helpful beyond measure and kind. Rita, the Office Manager, provided us with a wealth of information on places to visit and how to get to those places. The other hotel staff that we met, Charmaine, Suzanne, CC, Vizi, Neville and Satish were all very friendly and we had delightful conversations with all of them during our stay. There is a hotel and spa at Fort Recovery. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and the food was good. We did not visit the spa. As an earlier post stated we did not have TV reception in our suite, but that was not an issue for us. Wi Fi was fine, but slow. But then, slow Internet and poor cell phone performance is a pervasive problem in all of BVI. All in all our stay at Fort Recovery was a very memorable and pleasant experience.…
My wife and I live on another island and we took a week to go to Tortola for carnival. After reading the reviews we chose Ft Recovery. Knowing it was an older hotel we did not expect a 4-5 star resort. We checked in late. The staff waited up to let us in. The room had remodeled but still showed it’s age. The furniture was dated but clean. The room sat on the bay facing St Johns and had beautiful views. The description said “cable TV and WiFi in all suites.” Not So! No TV and WiFi did not reach our room.the staff was nice and the Breakfast was good. All in all, if you are looking to relax, this might be the right place. For us, we checked out early and moved to Scrub Island.
Maybe it was the location or the view or that we were starting a long vacation or the food or the staff or the peace and quiet or the simplicity, or the casual comfort. Whatever it was, this place was perfect.
Fort Recovery is a quaint Caribbean hotel with amazing views of the Sir Francis Drake Channel. The rooms are comfortable, but what really makes this hotel worth the stay is the staff. They make you feel so welcome! The food is wonderful and tasty. After 10 days on a catamaran this was the perfect re-entry into "reality". Definitely recommend and we will be back. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
I was very grateful for my trip to Tortola. My family chose the beautiful beachfront resort Fort Recovery. The accommodations were the best on the island. The staff was especially friendly. I liked very much the decor of our villa. It was right on the beach. The food was pretty good on the island, however the hotel had a little restaurant and I greatly enjoyed some delicious breakfasts and dinners with our family. We will return.
