I spent a few days at the Sugar Mill after Sailing around the BVI’s. Rupert and Andrea were so welcoming, warm, kind and accommodating. The way the run the place makes you feel like you’ve come home. The entire staff was just as kind. The room was clean and the views were incredible. I wish I could have stayed longer. The food, my god, the food was exceptional!! You can’t go wrong with anything you chose from either restaurant. I can’t not wait to come back.

The room was very clean, comfortable and anything you wanted they provided. We had a sitting area as well. Our excursion was arranged through Sugar Mill and went off without a hitch. They arranged for a taxi as we needed. The beach is small but very cozy.

What an amazing stay at the Sugar Mill Hotel!! This was our 4th trip to the BVI. We first discovered The Sugar Mill 23 years ago when we dined there for dinner. It was amazing then and still is today! We stayed for 4 nights on Tortola May 2023 and The Sugar Mill accommodated our EVERY need! We were warmly greeted by Andrea and a cocktail upon our arrival. She took us up the hill in a golf cart to our cottage style rooms nestled on the hill. Each room was appointed quite lovely. King size bed, amazing balcony with view of the water, chairs on the decks for sitting while having coffee or a cocktail. We had plenty of clean towels, small refrigerator, coffee maker with coffee for the "first cup" of the day. Every day our room was maintained by Sivlia, who was so kind and asked if we needed anything special! Andrea and Rupert (managers) went out of their way every day to be certain we were having a great time and were accommodated with our needs. Rupert was able to arrange for us to go on a motor boat for the day with a captain to take us to all our favorite watering holes as well as find some new ones! We were able to visit some favorites spots on Tortola with their help of arranging transportation to and from the spots. Additionally , I must say I am a traveler who loses things....mainly keys, phone, and sunglasses. I cannot say enough about the staff at the Sugar Mill. They were aware I had "lost" my sunglasses and went WAY above and beyond (including contacting former cab drivers) to help me recover them!! Absolutely a top notch facility run by honest, kind, welcoming staff. I would give them 6 stars if it were an option!!!

Great view from the spacious, comfortable room in a peaceful location. We were well looked after, Rupert and Andrea were always available if needed. A highlight was the lovely breakfast on the beach watching the pelicans swoop. We enjoyed our 3 dinners in the restaurant at sunset. Everyone we met working at the hotel was friendly and courteous. We spent a lot of time out and about but did visit the adjacent beach (small but good enough) most days and relaxed by the hotel pool when we felt the need.

Everything just perfect. Starting off with a cool towel and cold glass of bubbly by the most welcoming hosts. Andrea and Rupert made our stay most enjoyable. The setting is beautiful- settled in lush tropical gardens overlooking a picturesque bay. Our accommodations had were very spacious comfortable and clean with everything you would need -even a mini fridge and ice maker. Diner at the restaurant was exceptional. The Sugar Mill was the highlight of our trip. Can't wait to come back.

I loved the Sugar Mill Hotel. It was a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location--and it is perfect no matter what type of vacation you are looking for. It was quiet and peaceful, perfect for relaxing, and it was also easy to get a taxi and get to the docks for more active day trips. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to going back!

Sugar Mill Hotel is a wonderfully delightful small hotel. The accommodations were very comfortable and the food was fantastic!. Their beach is across the road from the hotel and is small and a bit rocky with rough surf. Unfortunately the sea grass filled the surf and beach 2 days after we arrived. An excavator was brought in to clear the water and beach but it took 4 days to clear it out. Andrea and Rupert were wonderful managers, always around to help or chat. The water and land excursions were fun and worthwhile; the land excursion visiting two beaches were we could snorkel and swim as well as a delicious beach picnic catered by Bernard, Sugar Mill’s chef, and a stop at the local rum distillery. The water excursion was on a day catamaran to great snorkeling areas off Norman Island. The hotel is really geared to adults. A few children were seen at the breakfast/lunch restaurant, but none at dinner at The Sugar Mill Restaurant. All the staff at the hotel were great, very accommodating and friendly.

This hotel was exactly the laid back, caribbean resort we were looking for. Lush grounds, set in an old sugar mill. The rooms were enormous. We stayed in room 106 with connecting balcony to 105 where my sister and her husband stayed. The view of the ocean and sunsets was jaw dropping. The room was actually a suite with 2 rooms. A Nespresso coffee maker, fully stocked drinks refrigerator and ice maker were in a small beverage area in the living area. The bedroom was quite spacious with lots of closet space, a very comfortable bed. The bathroom area had two sinks, a rare amenity. The shower is outdoors with rock walls on the sides and a mesh covering above. We enjoyed the all inclusive plan, including the catamaran sail excursion and the tour of the island. The tour was conducted by the manager who has lived on the island his entire life. Saw many beaches and learned so much about the history of Tortola and BVI. Because the hotel has a small number of guests, it never felt crowded. The pool area always had available lounge chairs. The food was top notch! Enjoyed the steaks, fish and the Kahlua chocolate cake. Never felt the desire to eat anywhere else. Lastly, the managers, husband and wife, were so kind and helpful. We would love to stay here again!

Absolutely LOVED our time at the Sugar Mill! It was soooooo relaxing and welcoming. We purposely didn't book a bigger island or a bigger hotel for the sole purpose of feeling close to nature in an intimate setting. The Sugar Mill delivered. Upon arriving we were greeted with two glasses of champagne by lovely Andrea - no forms to fill out, no official check in - just two glasses of champagne and whisked off to our room. Our room was gorgeous and had the most wonderful balcony and view. Perfect for morning coffee in our robes. (great semi-outdoor shower too, can't beat it) Dinner was fantastic - no reservations, no checks - just goes toward the room. It was sublime! The food was excellent, top notch, gourmet chef. This gorgeous place was meant for no fuss and chill. Honor system at the bar by the pool, books everywhere for you to read. Breakfast and lunch on the water at the day restaurant. Rupert always made us feel at home, very friendly and gave good recommendations. And a special thank you to Andrea for organizing our boat trip, the best highlight! Even our cleaning woman was all smiles and lovely. The pool is great and there is a small beach at hotel. Warm water, not rough, easy swim. I'd recommend walking to Sebastian's beach, 10 minutes away, for happy hour and a sunset. Its a surfers beach. And you can walk (up and over a hill) to Long Bay Beach for a gorgeous long walking beach. Food there as well. And the most beautiful beach is Smugglers Cove - cab needed. But quiet, beautiful, stunning warm water and two small food/drink shacks. Pics attached. Thanks again! Damon and I will be back!

Our long-awaited 50th anniversary trip to The Sugar Mill was delightful from start (Sep 2019 when we booked until after 3 cancellations we arrived 3.13,23). Rupert & Angrea (on site managers and Mary & Denis (owners) could not have done more to ensure we had a perfect time. 10 days of lulling around the beach, the bar, and the pool where all was top quality. The staff (housekeeping, cooks, waitresses, on site masseuse, all went above and beyond with a warm, friendly smile and hello making us feel like we were with friends. Accommodations, activities, location - All 5-star
