We had a lovely 2 week stay. Kitchen was a big plus, so we didn’t have to get out for every meal. Good service and quick response by the staff. Construction on new buildings is still in progress but hardly any nuisance.

A friend and I stayed at The hills at the end of November.
Communication prior to coming was good.
Upon arrival we were given our room key by security because this place is run by a real estate office that is only open 9-5pm and we arrived at 6pm
The security guard (I wish I remembered his name as he was the most informative person we spoke with during our stay) showed us where to park and brought us to our unit.
The unit A101 was very nice and clean and the outdoor space is amazing with a beautiful view. Unfortunately our stay wasn't as enjoyable as it could have been.
1-the shower leaks immensely. Not just some splashing on the ground from not having any walls, but about a 1/2" pool of water from the shower to the door every time we showered. At first we would soak it up and ring the bathmat out about 5x to try to control it, but gave up and just lived with piles of super soaked towels and wet floors for the duration of our trip.
2- they only left us 2 bath towels (which is not enough for two girls with long hair) . We did ask at the office for more towels which we received, but since the additional two towels, plus the hand towels, plus the kitchen towels, and the bath mat all ended up sopping wet on the floor for the week they didn't serve the purpose we needed them for.
3- no bedding or blankets for the pull out couch. I arrived with a cold and my friend preferred to not share the bed as planned, but there was no bedding for the pull out couch. I emailed immediately and was met with no response so she had to sleep on the couch with no blankets for the week.
4-the shower has no ledges, or shelves so anything you need has to go in the pool on the floor which is really unenjoyable
5-since the whole backsplash in the kitchen is a mirror all the outlets are in one spot which leaves the toaster and kettle no place to go but be piled on top of the microwave and out of reach when you are in the kitchen
6- the fire alarm went off twice during out stay. Not a big deal except security told me that it happens all the time and was a common complaint he recieved. One time it was turned off quickly. The second time it probably rang for about 10 minutes
7- the unit doesn't even have basics like salt and pepper so be sure to bring every single last thing you need if you plan on using the kitchen
8-in the bedroom there are pot lights and pendants. They are on the same switch, so if you like to read before bed (like I do) then you either can't or have to do so with full blast florescent lighting on which is not really a great way to wind down in my opinion.
9- the rooftop pool was lovely to look at, but was cold and the hot tub was lukewarm at best. I guess maybe would be better for the day, we only went up at night.
10 - communication was poor!! My emails went unanswered and if the office isn't open then there is only security to talk to. We spoke with another guest who arrived at 9pm and had to wait over an hour to get into his unit because no one was there. Apparently there is a WhatsApp for the hotel which this guest had access to, but we didn't know anything about it. We also wanted to check out very early and leave our bags in the office the day we were leaving to go to the beach before our afternoon flight. But I had no idea how to do that until I spoke with security at night and he said that we could leave the key with him and he would take our bags. The staff in the office was mostly nice when I did interact with them, especially a young French man when we went to pick up our bags, but the actual communication with this "hotel" was very poor.
While the hills residence is nice to look at, it just wasn't functional. We wouldn't stay here again.

I frequently fly to the island for work purposes, stayed at many hotels but The Hills Residence is the best one I've been at so far, having an entire apartment with the equipments simplified everything for me. The view is just amazing and the 24/7 rooftop pool is even better

Worst stay I’ve ever had! I’ve stayed at many places in St. Maarten and I’ve never experience the smell of sewage throughout the entire place, it smelt like literal sh**t & was very disturbing. Second, we had no curtains in our room nor the living room area, so we had no privacy whatsoever and felt very uncomfortable, especially in the morning because we were constantly being woken up by the sun, we were restless! No curtains should have been communicated to us when we booked in person. Third, the AC went out a couple times as well, so we were extremely hot and had to find ways to stay cool. The pillow cases had stains, the bathroom shower was built really stupid and water kept flooding the floors. I nearly fell so many times. Forth, I was so sick of them having to come to my room to get things fixed almost everyday! Im just like, did I really pay all this money for all these issues and disturbances. We finally went to the front desk because we had enough and Jules was very rude and didn’t take our complaints seriously, he constantly laughed while we complained and even threatened to re-charge my card when I politely asked him to void a payment because I was overcharged me! He is very unprofessional & spoke to us like we were stupid when he couldn’t even speak proper English. My long list of complaints about this sketchy place goes on.. But the worst part is, they refused to compensate for so many inconveniences and miscommunications. I highly recommend against staying at this unprofessional, unorganized, SH**TTY smelling place! Do not waste your money!

I checked in Oct 2024. The process was easy and I was greeted with professionalism. From there I had to walk up a steep hill and across a parking lot before arriving to an elevator to take me to my floor. Once we arrived I saw the place.
Modern furniture, hard sofa. Once we decided for bed, my friend pulled the covers back and lifted the pillows and we saw small bugs that appeared as stains. I immediately took pics and called the on call person. They said they would look into it the next morning. We slept on the hard sofa with a throw as we didn’t trust the covers from the bed nor the additional blankets at this point. We were set to check out and after speaking with the front desk I told them about my experience and asked for a refund for the night and to cancel my 2nd reservation to return a 3 days later. The management response was he was not going to refund me for the stay, he would cancel the upcoming reservation and had the Gaul to ask me “Did I bring the bigs with me!” I felt humiliated. I vowed to spread the word and let you know what type of place this was. If you are into cleanliness, healthy, bug free, stain free environment, this IS NOT FOR YOU!!

Decided to visit this place during my stay on the island of Sint Maarten and I do not regret it, everyone was super friendly, and the apartment had one of the best views i’ve ever seen in my life. The location was perfect, it was walking distance from a lot of restaurants and nightclubs.
