It took me 2 months to decide to post this review. I initially provided this review directly to the resort in hopes that they would respond before posting on TripAdvisor. Husband & I were booked to stay at the Atrium June 20 - 27, 2023. Upon check-in, we encountered Ayliah (spelling) at front desk. She was the most rude and obnoxious person who treated us as a nuisance. Checking in, she provided absolutely No information about the resort, internet, or anything pertinent for our stay. When I called desk to inquire about internet, she rudely answered, “it’s in the package you received” and disconnected call. Needless to say, there was no package, only a room key and a receipt for incidental hold cost charged to credit card. After the rude phone call, my husband went to speak with Alyiah in person, at which point, she rudely stated, “it’s on your receipt.” Who would ever think to check a receipt for internet connection instructions unless one is made aware information other than incidental charges are there? The pool area was not fit for usage. The fitness room looked like a closet for storing outdated equipment. My husband and another guest questioned why the resort had such heavy weights. Well the joke was on them, as the weights are made of plastic - who does that!? No one at the resort was friendly and welcoming except for a tall lady working Monday morning. We checked in on Tuesday but went by on Monday to schedule complimentary shuttle to Philipsburg. The lady on Monday day shift was very nice and accommodating, The lobby appears to be in renovation. However, no work was going on. There are no bellmen, not even a cart for guests use. This place offers nothing other than situated on a lovely part of Simpson Bay. RCI should be ashamed for categorizing this as gold standard. The place is old and second best to a dump. We were scheduled for 7 days stay. After 2 days & nights of staff rudeness, lack of amenities, & a depressing environment, we checked out and found more befitting accommodations elsewhere in Simpson Bay. With the change, we had to pay money rather than vacation points. However, it was money well spent. If you are with RCI, do yourself a favor and book Simpson Bay Resort. We stayed one night before arriving at Atrium. Simpson Bay Resort is only a few paces beyond the Atrium. It is a lovely resort with the most welcoming staff (as all resorts should be). The Atrium should take training in hospitality from the Simpson Bay Resort. Atrium, if you want to stay in business, renovate facilities with amenities offerings comparable to other resorts. And please, train staff in hospitality that leaves a favorable lasting impression that will have guests desiring to return rather than running as far away as they can. Lastly, check out took more than 20 minutes unnecessarily. The lady checking us out had difficulty calculating fees for 2 nights stay. She went from reviewing computer to a calculator for more than 20 minutes. It took so long, my husband seated me in the cab while he completed checkout. The cab driver eventually informed me to let front desk know that it was costing money for him to sit and wait. Please note, the cab was called when I began the checkout process. This place is a dump . . . Do yourself a favor, do not book here. It is not deserving of silver, less on Gold status.…
