Perfectly located, right on the beach in downtown Philipsburg, the Holland House offers great charm, a unique ambiance and a rich Caribbean experience. Meet the friendly Islanders, relax and enjoy all that St. Maarten has to offer. The hotel is located on Front Street, where you will find the best shops and boutiques on the island, all still Duty Free! The Hotel offers 55 rooms and suites all recently renovated, an award winning restaurant and wine cellar, a beautiful outdoor lounge deck and a magnificent beach right in front of the hotel with personal and attentive service. It's great to be here!

I spent the day at The Holland House Hotel and beach and it was the best day of our cruise. I have cruised for years and I no longer need to shop the small towns where cruises stop and I have seen most everything the Caribbean Islands have to offer. On this cruise, I decided to find small little hotels who offered “day” packages and this was the best one of the trip. This is a small boutique hotel and a $3 trip by taxi to a beautiful unspoiled beach. There, for a small fee, we got 2 perfect beach chairs, an umbrella, 4 drinks, WiFi and a shower/bathroom. For $5 more we could also have beach towels. We were 20 steps from the blue Caribbean water. I spent the morning luxuriating in the water and relaxing on their beach chair. A young man running the bar kept us in Diet Coke and ice. He brought us menus but we decided not to eat at our chairs but at their small seaside cafe, and they had a lovely seaside restaurant, too. We had a Caribbean lobster roll and fries with a small cabbage salad. It was excellent and we said it was our best lunch in any of the islands! The young man who waited on their bar, beach and cafe was very friendly, competent and full of energy. He was from the Netherlands and spoke perfect English with a smile! I am so sorry I can’t remember his name because later we laughed and said, maybe he was the owner!! I hate giving this secret place away but they deserve to have people stop there and enjoy the ambiance of their lovely hotel!!

We arrived on a Sunday and took about 20-25 mins by cab to get to this hotel. Being a Sunday with no cruise ships in it’s a ghost town. There were some open air markets a few blocks down from the hotel but on the boardwalk pretty much shut down. We didn’t mind as we were only here for 1 night. Headed to Anguilla the next day.

When you arrive at the airport there is an order to hail a cab, it goes in order on the side of the building etc. it was $20 for both of us not including tip.

THe bellman took our bags and within 15 mins our room was ready and we arrived early like 130pm. The hotel, looks newly renovated modern inside. We had a city view. The elevator was small and being on the 2nd floor we opted to use the stairs. The room was large. King bed, huge bathroom double sink, bar refrigerator area Keurig Fuji waters, closet flat screen tv. The Ac unit was wonky but worked. Clean. Plenty of towels.

When you come through the lobby there is a really big bar overlooking the ocean, then lower level another beach bar with tables, there are benches seating also outside by the restaurant as well. The restaurant at the hotel,is probably ranked the top one in Phillipsburg but we didn’t eat there.

The beach is across from the boardwalk, get your towels by the bar then grab a lounge chair umbrella etc. it was not crowded. Overlooks where the cruise ships come in. Hotel doesn’t have a pool. Place was spotless. Clean new, service was friendly and if everything was open centrally located to other stores shops restaurants. Distance to the ferry was about 25 mins. Plan accordingly.

For dinner we walked down towards the marina to the greenhouse pub, more people.

Overall if passing through for a night it’s a good stopover.

Ate there for Christmas Eve lunch, Christmas day, New Year's Eve and lunch on New Year's day. The Christmas and New Year's Eve meals were fixed price 4 course meals with matching wines. Both meals were outstanding and inventive. This place knows how to prepare steak. Actually had bison for Christmas Eve. It was cooked perfectly. Had seafood pasta on Christmas Eve and New Year's day. It was superb. Have been doing New Year's Eve here for a decade. Always a lot of fun with great music, a great DJ and the fireworks at midnight. Will be back next year.

We chose this place because we joined a cruise the next day and the pier is nearby compared to the location of the airport. The taxi ride from the airport was 30 mins. I paid $350 USD for a town view room. We were on the 3rd floor and this was a very noisy room. The AC was not cooling enough so we opened the patio doors to let the air in but it was so loud with street noises--cars, bars, etc. It was not a restful night. The ocean view rooms were probably much better but since were there one night and arrived after dark I didn't think it necessary to pay extra for a view we would not have. The restaurant was very nice and we ate dinner and breakfast there. Breakfast was included in my rate. The bar area is very nice. The location is on the boardwalk making it easy to stroll along the beach. I would stay here again because of its location but choose an ocean view room.

This place is a little more expensive for beach bumming but the chairs and umbrellas are upscale. They did a poor job of waiting on people at the beach. They charge for towels and the beer comes in those tiny bottles.

The beach is pristine and the sea is beautiful. We didn’t try their food but have been told it is excellent

Biggest downer and it applies to all the Philipsburg beaches. You just get worn out from all the street vendors trying to get you to buy something or get a massage.

Welcome to paradise!! Cheers!!!

Dear Street Merchant Hell, We apologize that we did not meet your expectations with the waiters on the beach. Indeed we do charge $25 dollar ( $12.50 per person) for a beach packages which included 4 beers, soda or water. It also included free Wifi, shower, two beach chairs for the whole day with a nice thick cushion and a beautiful white umbrella and handy side table. We also have two or three waiters that will take care of you and anything you need including lunch if you order this. The choice of beers include Coors light, Miller, Presidente, Carib or Corona which is served in 33 cl bottles or you can choose Heineken which is a 25cl bottle. It's what you prefer. The staff is happy to help you out making a choice. For towels we charge a $5 fee if you do not stay in the hotel. For all of our hotel guests all services are included. There is one beach in Philipsburg. Its the Great Bay Beach and its big, beautiful with azure blue water and yes it can be busy and fun! In case you do not like to get a massage or want to buy anything, a friendly "no thank you" wil normally do great trick!

We were assigned an older room, on the 3rd floor edge of the building with a partially obstructed view of the Ocean, not what we expected.  We discovered the 4th floor has been fully renovated and was in much better condition.  The central AC is very loud when running, as loud as the older window installed versions of AC.  They start the common grounds music very early, around 7am, and this can be heard inside the room.  The blackout curtains don't block all the light.  All combined with the noise from music & AC made it very uncomfortable for us to rest properly.  The bed is very firm, so much that if one partner moves, the whole bed shakes. The staff experience ranged from friendly to indifferent to rude.  The cleaning staff did a great job.  We waited on the elevator one day for it to open with a uniformed staff member inside who didn't move to make room for us until I said excuse me, and then she didn't even respond verbally or acknowledge us - very rude and awkward.  We had to seek out service for drinks while using the beach lounge chairs on our first day, after asking the staff to direct us where we can sit.  The service at the restaurant was slow  each day & on our last day, despite being seating 5 mins first, a subsequent large group of men showed up next to us, whom the waitresses seemed to know, & chose to take their very large order of 8 people first.  I got up and requested a different waitress take our order, which she did & was very nice to us after that.

Dear Mr. Fox, We are actually surprised and disappointed with your two star review that you also posted on Google. When you made your reservation through Expedia you had various options in room category. The Executive rooms are on the fourth floor and as such carry also a higher rate point. You reserved a regular room with beach view at a 40% discounted rate which was assigned to you; Unfortunately we could not honor your repeated requests and demands for the fourth floor when you arrived at the hotel. Yes indeed, the hotel is full at the moment even with the the Covid situation. The AC's are turned om maximum so its nice and cold when you arrive in your room, simply turning the fan down a bit will reduce any noise to an acceptable level and still give you nice airconditioned room. Unless you leave the sliding door open. In that case the air conditioning will keep running but no cold water will reach the coils. It also helps a lot to close the sliding doors so you have a quiet room. All rooms have upgraded hurricane resistant sliding doors with 1 inch thing glass. At the morning we play very relaxing, soothing music. Not too loud. Most people seem to enjoy it a lot when they relax in the lounge or are heaving breakfast ocean side. The beach side rooms are indeed rather bright, we will look into the black out curtain. Regarding the bed, we use Serta Presidential mattresses. Never had any complaints but we will check out what may have happend. Regarding the staff, and the elevator, considering the covid situation, only one person is allowed in an elevator. We have a bit of a small one but all staff is trained and guest are informed that you keep a distance. during these trying times. We apologize if the service was a bit slow although we also regret that during your stay and your conversations with the Front desk Manager this was not brought up. As a matter of fact none of your complaints have been brought up while you were at the hotel and your pictures show that you seemed to have a really great time here. We try everyday to accommodate each and every guest and we regret when something goes wrong or is not according to expectations. We will instantly make it right, but we also very much recognize when guest are retaliating.

Full disclosure. We did not spend the night here, but we did use their facilities including the beach and also ate here. We were very pleased with what we saw/ate/did and would now consider staying here in the future. They are centrally located downtown, right on the beach and you can rent beach chairs/umbrellas etc for a reasonable cost and everything is very convenient. The food we had was well prepared and tasty. It's a great stop for a day or multiple days.

This fine hotel is about 30 minutes to 1 hour from the Airport depending on the time of day and traffic.
It is located right in the middle of the shopping area. The locals were extremely friendly and helpful and very thankful for the business as they recover from Hurrican Irma.
Best rooms face out over the beach and look across the water to the cruise terminal just a few minutes away by cab.
Hotel staff were all excellent.
The Bar and Dining Room were superb. The servers in the dining room were excellent and the food was excellent. On one evening the food took far too long to arrive but the outcome was good none the less.
The room was clean and fresh.
The only criticism was that there was only one elevator. Thus, at check out time. if you were on a lower floor, the elevator was packed with luggage. It was a long wait. Thus, either book a top floor room over get on that elevator at least a half hour before the crowd.

If you’re looking to go ashore in Philipsburg but not into expensive excursions and long taxi rides, walk (about 15 minutes- you probably need the exercise!) to the Holland House hotel. At the beach patio bar you can get 2 lounge chairs, an umbrella and four standard drinks for $25. In addition, they have wi-fi and an outdoor shower. Bathrooms are the best on the beach. Bring a towel from the ship as theirs are an additional $5.
Nice staff, nice hotel, nice beach. It does get busy so be prepared for that.

Holland House is in the middle of the beachfront walk leading to where the cruise ships and excursion tours dock. It’s located between two small duty free shops—one that is mostly optical plus perfumes, and the other sells alcohol and tobacco (past St Martin of Tours Church). Although Philipsburg is not as interesting as Maho and Mullet Bay on Sundays (when shops in Philipsburg close), young families can appreciate the sandy playground by the boardwalk. The inviting hotel’s $25 Beach Deal offers wifi, toilets and a shower. It’s perfect for cruise passengers. (Otherwise, public washrooms are a few blocks behind Constance Williams’ “Aunt Lise” yellow building, halfway to RBC bank and the Chinese building with trinkets and gifts.) There’s a selection of restaurants or bars and Milano Gelateria within close walking distance, but expect things to get busy until cruise ships depart!

I contacted a friend at the front desk and she said they'd be happy to store your luggage while you enjoyed the beach. They sell beach setups that include umbrella, lounge chairs with a nice pad, a bucket of beverages, and bathroom access. Plus the food is good and the beach attendant will bring you menus, take orders and deliver food. Very friendly people.

Answer from Anita P

Nope honestly think divi is better but if you have the chance to see another island st Maarten was the worst island of the Caribbean we went to. Depends I guess what you look for but st Maarten beaches are tourist and massive boat American burger places etc. Good luck and have a great holiday

Hello, from the port you can either walk or take taxi boat to the town. Holland House is there, on the beach. you do not need any pass or anything. Just get a beach chair and relax. Beach attendents are there for you to provide drinks and towels. Shower near the bar and enjoy the scenery! And reserve a table for a nice lunch! walk back in the afternoon to your ship. OR alternative take a taxi around the island. But... it is always busy on the island when boats are in port, it all depends what you would like to do. But foremost: ENJOY and relax.

You would need to take a taxi over to see the aircraft come in. That is over on the Simpson Bay side.

We got the day pass from the Hotel by reserving on-line. However, you get there earlier enough (like before 10) you could skip the reservation and just walk up to the hotel for a pass.
