Meet very knowledgeable managers " Right on the beach, with own sun beds...The hotel was partly under renovation but it was not disturbing… It's a charmig, old fashion place with good value for money on S Maarten/St Martin.Accept, pls, birds singing until late evening... Advice. Book all your tours at the hotel reception through very knowledgeable managers and never through the internet or aggregators - avoid to lose your time and money (my own experience). This hotel works with some best tour agents and taxi drivers on the island!
Let's start with the positives, the location is fantastic with access to both Front Street and the Boardwalk. The breakfast is great value at $7 per person and is very nice. The hotel itself needs a bit of TLC. Also this property is unsuitable with anybody with mobility issues, it is accessed front and back by a flight of steps. It is near impossible to shut the doors quietly and the noise is heard all over the hotel. The worse problem we encountered were the staff, I never felt welcome and don't remember even seeing a smile. Philipsberg itself was a bit of a let down. The whole town shuts down when the cruise ships leave (about 7pm), also it is impossible to walk along without getting constantly harassed by jewellers, timeshare or trip sellers.
We stayed here for a week and had an ocean front room. Our room was exactly as pictured on line. This hotel is located on Front Street and the Boardwalk. It is very clean and well maintained. The staff is excellent and very friendly. It is also a very safe place to stay, we enjoyed ourselves with the beach right outside the court yard. The hotel location is very convenient to all the shopping and restaurants.
This is a great location for walking, shopping and eating. There is easy access to buses to go all over the island. The hotel was very comfortable for us. There are quite a few stairs to climb to get to reception and your room, if you need to know that. We had our breakfast there all three mornings and it was very good. The rooms are clean and very quiet. We had one facing the beach so I was a bit concerned but it was very quiet all three nights. We would definitely stay here if we go that way again.
We stayed for one night prior to a cruise. The room was as pictured, bathroom adequate but lots of noise from casinos at night. Breakfast for $7.00 a good value. Not impressed by front desk staff. Wifi available in the lobby worked well. Would not want to stay for more than one night.
