In the heart of Soufriere, short drive to all the major sights and activities nearby, friendly staff, clean rooms, views of the Pitons and near some nice local bars and restaurants. Not luxury but not sold as luxury
The Downtown Hotel is no Jade Mountain or Viceroy. It's above a shopping center in the heart of Soufriere. There is no elevator and the rooms are on the 4th floor. Breakfast isn't included. Don't expect a pool or fancy amenities. But, it was perfect...More
The place was cleanly, staff were nice, the AC was the best part of the room. Only issue was that the tv did not work and when I tried calling the concierge the phone was disconnected (I checked to see if it was plugged into...More
I stayed at this hotel in March 2017 and the accommodation were horrible. Too many stairs to begin with and that was not indicated anywhere on line. The tub is the room is not clean and the maids do a very poor job of cleaning...More
I will confess, I was not impressed by Rodney Bay. It was commercial and sanitised and Downtown Hotel was the perfect antidote to that. In the heart of the friendly community that is Soufriere this is a welcomed dose what real life in the caribbean...More

It's over an hour's trip. We'd hired a car in Rodney Bay so used that to get back to the airport. The most economical way is probably by bus, but if you have luggage you will have a problem as the buses are only mini van sized and are invariably full. I'm not sure if they run from inside the airport grounds. A taxi will be quite a lot of money, not sure how much, but to Rodney Bay it's around 80USD for the same time / distance. When you get to Soufriere there are mini vans running around but don't appear to keep to a timetable and seem to leave when they have passengers. A taxi to some of the more outlying resorts around Soufriere can cost around 50 US from the town centre.
