Ladera is the pioneer of the open air three-walled concept in St. Lucia and has since been distinguished by a wide range of international publications, awards and accolades from Conde Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Forbes Life Caribbean Travel and Life, Brides Magazine and countless others. Ladera was once part of Rabot Estate, one of Soufriere's oldest plantations, which still borders the resort. In the late 1960's a parcel of land was sold and developed into a small cluster of condominiums and christened Dasheene, named after the thousands of large, glossy-leafed dasheen plants (also known as elephant ears) harvested on the site. In 1982 it was transformed into a unique resort and changed hands a number of times before emerging as Ladera under the current private ownership. The mission has always been to offer an unparalleled guest experience that is quintessentially Saint Lucian, one that embraces the magnificent views and offers harmony with the surrounding natural beauty and rich bounty of the island. Today, that commitment to sumptuous authenticity is evident in everything from the innovative renderings of fresh local dishes at Dasheene restaurant, to the use of Caribbean timbers, stone and tile work used in the guestrooms and public areas. Yet it shines through most effectively with warm and welcoming Saint Lucian staff.

    10/10 Amazing Honeymoon
10/10 MUST GO! We visited in October on our honeymoon and stayed at Ladera for 4 nights before traveling to another resort north on the island. The pictures do not do justice to the beauty of this place. The staff is amazing and there are unbelievable views everywhere you go. Waking up every morning we could not believe it was real. We did multiple excursions from Ladera. The staff set everything up and assisted with transportation making everything very easy. A visit to the beach is also a must! You have a beautiful view at the bottom of on of the Pitons. The views don’t stop in your room. There is a nature trail on property with a vista point and activated along the way. Meals were amazing and the views continue in the restaurant. We will be recommending Ladera to all of our family and friends. If you plan on visiting St. Lucia DO NOT MISS OUT on staying here even if for only a few nights. The south of the island is the most magical place.
Dear M2890SSamandal, Thank you for staying with us ! I totally agree with you, WAKING UP AT LADERA RESORT IS UNBELIEVABLE... The views, the service, the food, the in house amenities are amazing Looking forward to welcome you, your friends and family very soon ! Warmest regards, Christian

    Honeymoon get away
Absolutely beautiful resort. Every aspect of Ladera is beautiful from the rooms to the gardens and of course the views. The open air rooms were a new experience for my wife and I but we truly fell in love with them. Especially at night, you feel as if you’re “camping” amongst the Pitons. The view of the Pitons is what the stay is all about. The resort is nestled on a ridge tucked right between Gros and Petit Piton giving you a beautiful view at all times of the day. The location also places you very close to the Gros Piton hiking trail, sulfur volcano, and waterfall. All of which should be explored. Sugar beach (viewable from your room) is also a short bus ride away. One thing to keep in mind if traveling to Sugar beach is that Ladera does not have a presence on said beach. The beach is open to anyone but the chairs and loungers are for Viceroy guests only. Also expect to be solicited to partake in boat rides, snorkeling and cave viewing by some locals near the beach. The solicitation is not a negative and they have a lot to offer at a really good price, all of the above for $80-100 and 4 hours. We found ourselves the most happy while just sitting in our room/private pool taking in the beautiful views and soaking up the sun. We would recommend Ladera one thousand times over, even if you were to only stay a couple of days. Be prepared to spend some extra money if you plan to do any excursions or trips through Ladera, but we found it to be worth it. Spend the money, it’s worth the view alone.
Dear coreyd975, Thank you very much for staying with us. We at Ladera Resort pride ourselves in providing the best personal service and facilities to our guest and comments like yours support us in our training to become the best hotel. I agree with you that just sitting in your private suite soaking up the sun from your own private pool is just amazing. Please do come back to visit us again, Best regards, Christian

    Another Fantastic Visit
My wife and I have been to Ladera several times now and this trip started off a little bumpy compared to past visits, almost entirely due to hurricane Elsa rolling through the week prior. Since issues with our suite were discovered on day one, we reluctantly brought them to the attention of the staff. Hotel occupancy was full and we offered to accept a level of suite down from what we had reserved. That was unacceptable to this 5 star staff though, who ended up putting us in a better suite that when we had arrived. That is what sets Ladera apart in my opinion. They're going to do whatever it takes to make sure you have a great stay. Our suite, PR2, was flawless. The service was flawless. Dinner at Dasheene can take a while, the first night dinner took over an hour and a half between ordering and arriving. But the dinner is outstanding and arrives hot. The resort is so unique and in such a perfect location. Other than maybe Jade Mountain, this is the premier couples resort on the island and the service matches that description. With some very competitive airbnb's close by, it's important Ladera keeps living up to these high standards and they absolutely went above and beyond on this trip. A personal greeting at checkout by the General Manager Mr. Gandara showed us how they value their guests and had us looking forward to coming back and glad we are a part of the Ladera family. Pros: Service Location Privacy Con: A few more bug bites this time
Dear all32, Thank you for staying with us... It was a pleasure to meet your son this time... Looking forward to welcome you for the 4th time ! Warmest regards, Christian

The property is wonderful and the views are unbelievable from the rooms. The only problem is if you can't sleep in heat, don't go. Even with the fan it gets fairly warm at night. The people who work there are always ready to help and set up anything you want them to. The people at the restaurant are fabulous. Lome, Lee, and Joanna were always warm and inviting in the morning and at lunch. The front desk people get anything done you want to do on the island. Would highly recommend for a romantic vacation.

My wife and I celebrated or 20th wedding anniversary at Ladera in June. Before I get into it, I’ll say that we absolutely LOVE Ladera. It’s probably the best vacation experience I ever had and we would go back in a heart beat. Pros: The view was jaw dropping. We booked a Paradise Ridge Suite, and the hotel even upgraded our room since it was our 20th wedding anniversary which was such a nice surprise. The hotel literally has the best view of the Pitons on the entire island, so any room you pick will have a spectacular view. Not to mention, there was a constant flurry of hummingbirds and butterflies outside our room which added another level to the experience. The room was incredible. Among so many amazing features, the open wall concept, the rain shower and the plunge pool were the standouts. Also loved that the rustic design of the rooms feel like they borrow a lot of inspiration from the island. Staff was awesome. Super friendly, outgoing and helpful. They truly go above and beyond to make you feel like you are special. You also get personal butler service for your room. The resort gives you a mobile phone when you arrive specifically for this service - anything you needed was just a call away. Unreal. The hotel grounds were amazing. The concept feels like it’s trying to be a natural extension of the island. Flower gardens, a tree house, hammock lounge areas, workout and game rooms and a really nice hiking trail with stunning views - all located privately on the grounds. Not cons, but stuff to consider: Airport customs line takes about a hour. The drive to the resort is about 45 minutes. It also takes about 30/45 minutes to get checked in, get to your room, get bags, have your concierge take you through the way things work, all that. So just be prepared that even when you land, it’s going to be a while before you’re dipping your toes in your plunge pool. The hotel is not beach front. They have a free shuttle to two beaches. Malgretoute beach is free and Ladera has shuttles running to and from it most of the day. You can get buy food and drinks and rent lounge chairs there. It’s cheaper but it’s not that pretty of a beach. Ladera will take you to Sugar Beach Resort as well, which is a significantly more beautiful beach, better food and chairs/umbrellas, but expensive - about $75 per lounge chair. Not to mention, Ladera only runs a pick up shuttle till around 1. So if you want to stay longer, you’ll have to arrange a cab. Still, I would reco this beach over Magratoute. Food at the resort is good but not great and a little pricey. But they have a sizable breakfast menu which is free. Hotel Rabot across the street has restaurant called Hotel Chocolat that is amazing and is within a short walking distance. Reservations required. Ladera seems more tailored to those looking to disconnect and get away from it all. The dinners at the restaurant were pretty quiet and you rarely saw people on the grounds unless you were heading out to catch a shuttle for an excursion. A very secluded and tranquil vibe. This was exactly what we were looking for. If you’re looking for a more lively social scene, I might consider another resort. The bugs are a lot. But that’s the compromise with having an open air room on an island. The resort does a good job of minimizing how much you notice them; mosquito nets on the bed, daily cleaning service, citronella candles. We got used to them. But just make sure to keep your food and drinks covered, suitcases and bags closed and keep the mosquito net closed fully at night. Tipping is a big factor. The island economy heavily depends on tourism dollars and everyone on the island is looking for tips, especially outside the resort - from airport baggage handlers, to cabdrivers to tour guides, etc. My only issue was that there is no set standard for tips on the island. We brought $300 in cash (residents prefer U.S. dollars) and we burned through that midweek. The hotel credited us more cash but it was in EC currency which was difficult to calculate. Including hotel staff, cab rides, restaurants, island excursions, etc, we probably spent $500 in tips for a 6-night stay. The resort will tell you “tip what you feel is fair” but I would reco doing some research beforehand and agreeing to what, who and how much you will tip before you go. Excursions - the resort recommends the Sulpher Springs tour: mud bath, waterfall and botanical gardens. Was decent. We liked the waterfall and botanical tour parts much better than the mud bath part (too many people). Beyond that, we just lounged at the beaches most of the time. But there are a ton of other excursions to pick from, and the hotel helps set them up for you. Again, these are not cons, just things I would have liked to know before going. Overall, Ladera is everything we wanted in an island vacation and more. We can’t wait to go back!

I just want to start off by saying how amazingly beautiful this resort is. Ladera and its breathtaking views and landscapes was something I will never forget. My Husband and I recently got married there and the staff was extremely helpful. Everyone was especially nice and accommodating from the waitstaff, butlers, reception and even the general manager Christian who truly cared about his guests experiences. The local artist Boniface was so nice and cared about his art work as well as informing us of his beautiful country. And a very special shout out to Devonté who was a very special part of our trip and undoubtedly become a lifelong friend. Thank you Ladera for an amazing experience we will never forget.

Ladera is AMAZING!! The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They make everything wonderful. We stayed in Hilltop 2 and it is the most I have ever spent on a resort and I don’t regret one penny of it. The views are spectacular with a rain forest and an ocean view that goes on forever. We came for our 30th anniversary and they were attentive to every detail. Jada at the front desk took care of ant whim we may have had at a moments notice. Melissa our concierge responded promptly during the planning and even greeted my wife by name. It was like they were old friends. Devonte was the butler to our room and anytime we left we came back to a completely clean room. I can’t say enough good things about Ladera…

We went for our anniversary so we were not shopping whether it was "high season" or "low season". Unfortunately it was low season and therefore there was absolutely NO entertainment at the resort. We were in bed by 9pm nightly due to the lack of activities after dinner. This is an absolutely beautiful resort and the staff was amazing. We had a few things that were not addressed promptly, or at all, but they were little things. Everywhere you go and anything you do in St. Lucia is very expensive. Taxi ride from resort to Soufriere, which was barely 5 minutes away, ran us $30. They wanted $75 per chair at Sugar Beach which is one of the free shuttles from the resort. Paid $300 for a taxi up to Rodney Bay from 9am - 2pm. If you want to get around the island I would suggest a rental car. What we paid in taxis we could have paid for a rental for a week! Island Man Taxi - his 5 hour tour is well worth it. Paid $160 and did water fall, sulphur springs, Soufriere and a hike. Three wall open air concept is good in theory but it made for horrible sleeping for me. I had ear plugs in and a pillow wrapped around my head and fan blowing on me and could still hear the frogs and crickets. Romantic in idea but not very practical for sleeping. Another couple at the resort who did have a closed off bedroom area went home 3 days early because the wife was so eaten up with bug bites. Bring Deet of some sort. The resort gives you an all-natural type bug repellent and after-bite sprays but they don't seem to keep the bugs away. Food at the resort was very good. We only did the breakfast and thought we would sample around town for our other meals but due to the high cost to get anywhere we ate most meals at the resort. Breakfast = $45 Lunch = $60 Dinner = $150+ were average amounts for what we paid. Drinks were $16 each. I brought my own bottle of rum and used the free Coke in the room and had a insulated cup that I filled up before I went to dinner so I did not have to pay the high price for drinks with a lot of ice in them. We recommend the hike at the resort. Wear tennis shoes and be careful. Takes you to the far North side of the resort and a few very nice look outs that give you a different angle of the Gros Piton. The spa was closed; which I was unaware of until we arrived. That was a bummer because I would have gladly indulged in that. Other couples walked to the nearby Chocolat hotel and had dinner there and said it was good. St. Lucia is a beautiful island and this resort seems to have the best views I have seen so we appreciated the view we had from our room.

Dear MountainCouple2020, Thank you for staying with us. I appreciate your feedback, our team members work very hard to provide the best personal services and facilities to our guest. I apologize if we did not fullfilled your expectations. Your comments will assist us in our training efforts as we move forward. We are also looking into the entertaiment schedule to add more options. Ladera Resort offers complimentary beach shuttles to both Sugar Beach and Malgretoute Beach. Sugar Beach as you mentioned is a resort beach with more Food and Beverage options, rental lounge chairs and more guest. Malgretoute Beach is a local beach, less crowded with a Restaurant that offers more local cuisine, rental lounge chairs are more affordable. Ladera Resort provides you with pool towels. Our new Spa is scheduled to open in 2024, currently we are offering in room massages. All our room rates included breakfast ( a la carte ) , all our rooms have a complimentary mini bar, stoked with water, sodas and is refill once daily. We also offer a complimentary expresso / coffee machine in all rooms. Most guest like to have a cup of fresh coffee while wathing the sunrise from their own private heated pool. I totally agree with you, Saint Lucia is a beatifull island, with amazing people and we at Ladera Resort have the best views from any side at the resort. I hope you come and visit us again in 2024 once our new Spa is opened. Warmest regards, Christian

OMG! Words cannot describe the feeling while at this resort. From being picked up and dropped off at the airport with a private transport to being perched at the top, overlooking Sugar Beach and both Pitons. It is something out of a fairytale. The infinity pool overlooking the Pitons made for magical photos at sunset. We booked for a friend's 50th birthday, two couples total, sharing the big suite! The staff went above and beyond to make her birthday unique and special. We enjoyed breakfast delivered to the suite, lunch packed as a picnic for a trip to Sugar Beach and dinners watching the sun go down. With every meal, we thought the food couldn't get better, it was very flavorful, great displays and tasted great! In addition many wine runs to the room and the pool :-) We also enjoyed a private chef's wine pairing dinner with Nigel, which was a highlight. There are so many people to thank for their hospitality, I will try to do my best to name all - in no particular order - all were top notch, friendly, accommodating, personable and fabulous - Lorna, Cynthia, Vanney, Nigel, Ninus, Neilbert, Rohan, Saidley, Jovanne, Jennifer, Paul and of course Shay, Richie, Christian and Sonja. The trip down to the mud baths, waterfalls, botanical gardens is a must do. In addition, I highly recommend the various hikes offered at the resort. All you need to do is think about what you want to do and they make it happen! The spa was being built and it looks amazing, can't wait to go back and try it. Book now, what are you waiting for!

I really don’t know where to start! The moment we got here my wife and I were awed by the views. We were greeted with cocktails on ice as one of the staff members brought our luggage’s to our room while we got a brief tour of the resort. Every day they were consistent with keeping our room clean and restocking our fridge. ALL of the staff were sooo polite and respectful and they sure do know how to put a smile on your face everyday. Anytime we needed something , they got it done for us in a timely manner. I can’t think of anything to complain about in regards to their hospitality and service. V, Tenisha , Devonte and so many more were amazing in taking care of us. The only thing I will say is , there are a lot of bugs due to it being an outdoor concept. So make sure to come prepared and use mosquito spray! Ps. We were celebrating our honeymoon and my wife’s birthday, they went above and beyond to help me make her feel special.

This place was without a doubt the most incredible place I’ve ever stayed. The level of service and detail was incredible. I have never been anywhere in my life that was as beautiful as this place. We had our own pool and the most unbelievable view. The rooms are extremely private. It’s quiet and the perfect place to relax. My wife and I loved every minute of it. Our butler, V man, was great. We wanted for literally nothing and he was always happy to help us with anything we needed. It is very very expensive but worth ever dollar I spent. If you want the most incredible view, private experience, and wonderful food, I could not recommend this place any higher. My wife and will without a doubt go back.

If you’re looking for an amazing adults only resort that puts you right between the Pitons in St. Lucia, this is the place. We returned 15 years later after being married there in 2008. It has changed a little but only for the better. Ladera puts you close to the nature of St. Lucia with its open air suites, infinity pools in your room and incredible views. The Dasheene restaurant continues to deliver 5-Star meals with Chef Nigel at the helm. Huge shout outs to Caroline (who was our wedding planner… and is so kind and caring at reception), to Vianny & Theodore (our butlers who were amazing & brought anything we needed), to Abigail & Arielle at reception who helped us so much! …and so many others of the staff who were incredible! We love Ladera and would go back there as soon as possible.
