Ladera Resort St. Lucia is the perfect setting for honeymoons, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, adventures, wellness and just relaxing and watching the sunset. Ladera is the pioneer of the open air three-walled concept in St. Lucia and has since been distinguished by a wide range of international publications, awards and accolades from Conde Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Forbes Life Caribbean Travel and Life, Brides Magazine and countless others. Ladera was once part of Rabot Estate, one of Soufriere's oldest plantations, which still borders the resort. In the late 1960's a parcel of land was sold and developed into a small cluster of condominiums and christened Dasheene, named after the thousands of large, glossy-leafed dasheen plants (also known as elephant ears) harvested on the site. In 1982 it was transformed into a unique resort and changed hands a number of times before emerging as Ladera under the current private ownership. The mission has always been to offer an unparalleled guest experience that is quintessentially Saint Lucian, one that embraces the magnificent views and offers harmony with the surrounding natural beauty and rich bounty of the island. Today, that commitment to sumptuous authenticity is evident in everything from the innovative renderings of fresh local dishes at Dasheene restaurant, to the use of Caribbean timbers, stone and tile work used in the guestrooms and public areas. Yet it shines through most effectively with warm and welcoming Saint Lucian staff.

Ladera was absolutely breathtaking!! My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and we fell in love with these views. The views do not get better than this! It was a perfect romantic resort to start our honeymoon at. We had our own private plunge pool, and we barely left it! It was always heated and gave a perfect view of the Piton mountains. The staff was amazing! Very friendly and attentive to any needs we had. The restaurant on the property was amazing!! My husband and I got something different each night for dinner, and we loved everything they made! We had the same server, Leah, multiple nights in a row, and she was amazing!! Very attentive and friendly. We used TripGuy Travel to help us book our honeymoon, and they handled everything, making our trip very smooth with zero worries. The room we stayed in was an open concept, so it was open to nature. While you know what you are getting when you book that kind of experience, the staff does a good job of doing what they can to prevent mosquitoes. There is a net over the bed to keep them out, and the staff does a turn down service every night, where they light these coils that help keep the mosquitoes away. In the room comes with bug spray for the room, as well as bug repellent and itch relief if needed. We did not have any big issues or problems with this though! I would definitely recommend Ladera to anyone traveling to St. Lucia. It is an amazing, romantic resort.

Hotel's Favorite
My wife and I celebrated or 20th wedding anniversary at Ladera in June. Before I get into it, I’ll say that we absolutely LOVE Ladera. It’s probably the best vacation experience I ever had and we would go back in a heart beat. Pros: The view was jaw dropping. We booked a Paradise Ridge Suite, and the hotel even upgraded our room since it was our 20th wedding anniversary which was such a nice surprise. The hotel literally has the best view of the Pitons on the entire island, so any room you pick will have a spectacular view. Not to mention, there was a constant flurry of hummingbirds and butterflies outside our room which added another level to the experience. The room was incredible. Among so many amazing features, the open wall concept, the rain shower and the plunge pool were the standouts. Also loved that the rustic design of the rooms feel like they borrow a lot of inspiration from the island. Staff was awesome. Super friendly, outgoing and helpful. They truly go above and beyond to make you feel like you are special. You also get personal butler service for your room. The resort gives you a mobile phone when you arrive specifically for this service - anything you needed was just a call away. Unreal. The hotel grounds were amazing. The concept feels like it’s trying to be a natural extension of the island. Flower gardens, a tree house, hammock lounge areas, workout and game rooms and a really nice hiking trail with stunning views - all located privately on the grounds. Not cons, but stuff to consider: Airport customs line takes about a hour. The drive to the resort is about 45 minutes. It also takes about 30/45 minutes to get checked in, get to your room, get bags, have your concierge take you through the way things work, all that. So just be prepared that even when you land, it’s going to be a while before you’re dipping your toes in your plunge pool. The hotel is not beach front. They have a free shuttle to two beaches. Malgretoute beach is free and Ladera has shuttles running to and from it most of the day. You can get buy food and drinks and rent lounge chairs there. It’s cheaper but it’s not that pretty of a beach. Ladera will take you to Sugar Beach Resort as well, which is a significantly more beautiful beach, better food and chairs/umbrellas, but expensive - about $75 per lounge chair. Not to mention, Ladera only runs a pick up shuttle till around 1. So if you want to stay longer, you’ll have to arrange a cab. Still, I would reco this beach over Magratoute. Food at the resort is good but not great and a little pricey. But they have a sizable breakfast menu which is free. Hotel Rabot across the street has restaurant called Hotel Chocolat that is amazing and is within a short walking distance. Reservations required. Ladera seems more tailored to those looking to disconnect and get away from it all. The dinners at the restaurant were pretty quiet and you rarely saw people on the grounds unless you were heading out to catch a shuttle for an excursion. A very secluded and tranquil vibe. This was exactly what we were looking for. If you’re looking for a more lively social scene, I might consider another resort. The bugs are a lot. But that’s the compromise with having an open air room on an island. The resort does a good job of minimizing how much you notice them; mosquito nets on the bed, daily cleaning service, citronella candles. We got used to them. But just make sure to keep your food and drinks covered, suitcases and bags closed and keep the mosquito net closed fully at night. Tipping is a big factor. The island economy heavily depends on tourism dollars and everyone on the island is looking for tips, especially outside the resort - from airport baggage handlers, to cabdrivers to tour guides, etc. My only issue was that there is no set standard for tips on the island. We brought $300 in cash (residents prefer U.S. dollars) and we burned through that midweek. The hotel credited us more cash but it was in EC currency which was difficult to calculate. Including hotel staff, cab rides, restaurants, island excursions, etc, we probably spent $500 in tips for a 6-night stay. The resort will tell you “tip what you feel is fair” but I would reco doing some research beforehand and agreeing to what, who and how much you will tip before you go. Excursions - the resort recommends the Sulpher Springs tour: mud bath, waterfall and botanical gardens. Was decent. We liked the waterfall and botanical tour parts much better than the mud bath part (too many people). Beyond that, we just lounged at the beaches most of the time. But there are a ton of other excursions to pick from, and the hotel helps set them up for you. Again, these are not cons, just things I would have liked to know before going. Overall, Ladera is everything we wanted in an island vacation and more. We can’t wait to go back!

Ladera was the perfect experience for our honeymoon! My husband surprised me with the Paradise Ridge Suite and it was absolutely beautiful and stunning! It was truly paradise! I felt like we were in a postcard! Everyone we encountered at Ladera were so sweet and wonderful! Devonte and Rohan our butlers were incredible at helping us with whatever we needed with scheduling dinners, excursions and so on and so personable and truly made our experience wonderful! Jennifer was one of our servers wonderful at her job and was extremely friendly and just put a smile on our faces every time we saw her ! Molly, Caroline and Jada were also very helpful, personable and so sweet ! The only thing I suggest to improve upon is the quality of the dinner food. The food wasn’t horrible but we went to different restaurants every night and the food at Ladera wasn’t as spectacular as I would have hoped! Overall it was truly a wonderful experience and if can I highly suggest staying here when traveling to St. Lucia !

My husband and I genuinely cannot say enough amazing things about our entire experience at Ladera. If you are looking for peaceful, tranquil, pure relaxation this is the place for you. You can remain as private as you would like, not even needing to leave the room if you wish. You can also head over to the amenity areas if you wish to get out of the room and have some more social interactions around others. From the moment we arrived for our honeymoon, we were blown away not only by how SPECTACULAR the grounds and resort are, but also how accommodating and kind the entire staff was. Darrell gave us a ride to our beautiful paradise ridge suite and showed us around to make sure we were comfortable and knew where everything was. They even had chilled champagne waiting for us near our pool, and a fully stocked espresso bar and fridge. Anytime we had a question or needed anything, he would respond immediately and be so kind! Same with Theo, he was always there when we needed anything and was awesome to us. They made the stay even more memorable and special. The rooms are very clean and welcoming, and although ours did not have a 4th wall, we really did not have any issues with bugs. The staff turns down the room in the evening and sprays bug spray as well as lights incense to keep the bugs at bay. They also had some body sprays if you wish to use them. We really admired all of the hand carved wooden elements that were true to the authenticity of our surroundings. Even the showers and tiles near the pools looked like carefully crafted mosaics. We loved all of the details. We did have a day and night of rain, however that did not negatively impact our experience at all. The true nature sounds contributed to the tranquil environment. On clear nights, you can even see thousands and thousands of stars, both from your room and also a great view from the stargazing tower. We were genuinely so sad to have to leave Ladera, but we know that it will not be our last time there. THANK YOU to everyone at Ladera for being wonderful, and creating a paradise and mini heaven on earth. This place is truly special.

We stayed at Ladera for the perfect honeymoon! We have never been treated with such luxury and hospitality. The staff was wonderful from reception (Sherin, Ariela, and Malissa) to the on-site Dasheene restaurant (Lorne, Isha, Lee, and Janelle). We were constantly welcomed, they remembered our names, room number, and what we ate for breakfast! For the local excursions, we highly recommend the sunset cruise and Project Chocolat tour (right across the street). These were both extremely fun, reasonably priced, and worth the money. We didn’t have to worry about planning anything because reception called, booked, and ordered taxis for us. Since breakfast is included, we decided not to do the all-inclusive meal plan, which worked out great to try other local restaurants. However, we did eat most meals at Dasheene due to the convenience, great food, view, and lovely staff. We look forward to coming back to Ladera in the future!

Our time at Ladera could not have gone better. The service and attention to detail was top notch and the resort itself is beautiful. We could not have asked for a better honeymoon and Ladera is a huge reason because of this. An absolute must for all visiting St. Lucia. A special thanks to Devante and Vianney on the Ladera staff, you both were incredibly helpful and we appreciate you! Can't wait to be back again soon.

This was a bucket list trip for my 50th, and it was such an amazing experience! Had a Hilltop Dream Suite, the views were breathtaking and made it hard to want to go anywhere else. We were even treated to some morning rainbows over Petite Piton. Staff - I cannot say enough about the amazing staff here! I almost hate mentioning any by name because I know I'm forgetting so many. Jada in reception was an incredible first impression and always helpful throughout our stay. Lorne, Lee, Jennifer, Ariela and Ray are some other staff members we interacted with in restaurants and throughout the grounds that just made us feel so welcome. Food - Between the 2 of us I think my husband and I had about everything on the breakfast menu and it was all so good. Particularly the Creole breakfast, eggs Benedict, and berry crepes. For lunch the fritters, fish and chips, roti wrap and seafood salad were all fantastic. Dinner at Dasheen is rotated between 3 menus, so they have a new menu every couple days. It's pricey and can be a longer experience, as they do an amuse bouche at the start and a sorbet palate cleanser between courses, just fyi. We had some fantastic dinners there, and menu varied so that you can always find something that sounds good. Tours- if you do want to tear yourself away, the staff here will help with pretty much anything. They set up a taxi for us that was billed to the room when we wanted to go somewhere else for dinner. The transfer to Malgretoute Beach is easy-peasy, they give you beach towels to take right on the shuttle and anything there at the beach-food, drinks, snorkel gear, kayak rental, beach chairs-all just billed back to your room. We arranged a sunset sail via email with the Concierge prior to arrival, they just really make everything so easy. All in all this was just an amazing experience that I'll never forget, in no small part because of the staff, and of course the incredible room and scenery didn't hurt! Know that if you are a light sleeper it may be a struggle, I got very little sleep but was fine with the trade off. They provide earplugs but I'm not a fan so didnt use them. I also brought bug wipes and promptly forgot to use them most of the time and got a decent amount of bites that thankfully weren't itchy. Take these things into consideration, and then go have an unforgettable trip to Ladera and St Lucia!
