2020 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best
Ladera is the pioneer of the open air three-walled concept in St. Lucia and has since been distinguished by a wide range of international publications, awards and accolades from Conde Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Forbes Life Caribbean Travel and Life, Brides Magazine and countless others. Ladera was once part of Rabot Estate, one of Soufriere's oldest plantations, which still borders the resort. In the late 1960's a parcel of land was sold and developed into a small cluster of condominiums and christened Dasheene, named after the thousands of large, glossy-leafed dasheen plants (also known as elephant ears) harvested on the site. In 1982 it was transformed into a unique resort and changed hands a number of times before emerging as Ladera under the current private ownership. The mission has always been to offer an unparalleled guest experience that is quintessentially Saint Lucian, one that embraces the magnificent views and offers harmony with the surrounding natural beauty and rich bounty of the island. Today, that commitment to sumptuous authenticity is evident in everything from the innovative renderings of fresh local dishes at Dasheene restaurant, to the use of Caribbean timbers, stone and tile work used in the guestrooms and public areas. Yet it shines through most effectively with warm and welcoming Saint Lucian staff.

We love the open air concept and hearing the tree frogs and the serenity that experience brings. We were married at Ladera and had an exceptional experience. Unfortunately, we returned 5 years later for our anniversary and things have changed drastically! There are bright flood lights from the tennis courts at the base of the mountain that remain on most of the night. And horrible loud band playing at the restaurant late. So no more peace and serenity. The staff has changed, also. Not friendly or attentive. We were so sad to see the major changes and decline.

Spent a few days at this location for my 50th birthday. The staff were amazing. Followed by the service and attention, the beautiful location, the rooms and accommodations, the garden grounds and even the new hammocks they added. The chef had such flexibility. Again, the people like Caroline, Yvette, Cynthia, Cindy, Lee, Chef Nigel are the reason why I am already looking to plan my next trip here. They went out of their way to ensure we had a great time even during COVID. And their adherence to safety rules but doing so with a smile made you able to deal with most of the limitations. If you go during rainy season be flexible on activities & be prepared with items to take care of bugs. Met GM Christian and his wife and they too were great people and he personally addressed any minor issues we may have had. This place is amazing!

This resort is absolutely amazing! Everything from the views to the staff and the food was great. Covid made wedding planning super stressful but this was the perfect place to let it all go. We enjoyed days just lounging in our private pool and others taking scenic walks on the trails. We felt right at home and will return in the future!

My wife and I cannot put into words how amazing our time at Ladera was but we’ll try. From the moment we booked our stay, their reception team was always available to answer any questions we had. They let us know all the requirements needed in order to travel to St. Lucia (due to Covid). They arranged for us to be picked up at the airport, we were given welcome bags that included water bottles, sandals, hand sanitizer, a snack, and other things I can’t quite remember. When we arrived at the resort, we were greeted by Miss Caroline who provided us with welcome drinks and cold towels, then she proceeded to show us to our room. This is the part where I say that we cannot put into words; but it was the most beautiful setting/view we had ever seen! The pictures and videos on their site do not do it any justice whatsoever. The room was beautiful, amazing touches, spacious, and very romantic. We almost never wanted to step out of it. The service we received was top notch, amazing and kind staff, top quality food, anything you could want, it felt like they accommodated. Our stay at Ladera was an experience we will never forget and that we hope we can relive very soon!

My husband and I spent 2 nights at Ladera during our trip to St. Lucia, and it was the highlight of our trip! The staff is so incredibly friendly, even noting when I mentioned once that mangos were my favorite fruit and making sure I had a fresh mango with my breakfast every morning! We stayed in a Hillside suite and were amazed at the well thought out architecture and attention to detail (the binoculars for watching birds and water gun were a fun touch!).. Having one wall open to incredible views was so unique, relaxing and still afforded total privacy. It was nice to just get away from the busyness of life and take in the sights and sounds of the rainforest and Caribbean. I would describe it as a very romantic, relaxing and intimate experience. The grounds are stunning!!! Beautiful plants with local fruit trees, spices and herbs growing on the property along with hummingbird feeders throughout. The Dasheen restaurant has the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen for a restaurant (both Pitons are visible), and the food is absolutely delicious. We also went to their state of the art gym and enjoyed amazing views while working out. The staff has done well at subtly putting in the COVID-19 safety protocols as required by the St. Lucian government and made it a very pleasant stay. We were able to book a private snorkeling excursion from the property. It seems water activities are open but land activities are still limited due to COVID.! I can’t recommend this place more highly.

Dear Jessica A, Thank you very much for staying with us. It was a pleasure meeting you. I agree with you, Ladera sits on the top of a volcanic reef allowing for the best views of the amazing Pitons. You really feel like you are touching them. At Ladera Resort the well being of our employees and guest is our highest mission. That is why we created the AngelFish Team. It is responsible of ensuring all COVID-19 protocols are followed while still providing our legendary Ladera service. I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Hopefully we get to meet you soon again. warmest regards, Christian
