This is one of the best reviewed hotels on St Lucia. Now I've been, I can see why. It won't be for everyone but that makes it different (e.g. if you want to take children - it is adults only).
The stand out elements: the staff, the gardens and the food (other hotels I visited maximise the building space).

Things to note:
The beach is more exposed (but with a few large bolder breakwaters).
No point snorkelling here - but a $50 Piton snorkel trip is the bargain of the trip (boat trip down the island, snorkelling in clear water, water side view of the Pitons!)
Water sports are vulnerable to the weather as it is exposed - however experienced sailors can get a bit of excitement going on the Hobbie Cats.

Almost every staff member was great, some maybe had an off day or a difficult guest just before me (we're all human and most went well beyond expectations - they engaged in chat if you wanted, or were efficient if you wanted that). The owners seem to invest in the staff (selection and training).

Gardeners kept the garden great. Unsung heroes as you don't really see them unless you are up early, and at other times they are discreetly clearing, trimming etc.

Food presentation clearly had thought - and great presentation. Tasted great - only "complaint" is that it is always there and too tempting.

Day passes to BodyHoliday are worth the taxi ride ($60 return or $75 ($30, $15, $30) if you do a stop off at Pidgeon Island for a walk).

Local airport very close - a few mid sized planes each day - but it didn't bother us or others we spoke to.

TRAFFIC - anywhere up north of St Lucia is awful! Just factor it in and don't give the locals a hard time. Getting anywhere south takes time.

Timekeeping - was almost Germanic (in a good sense, unless you expect "island time")

It isn't crowded - some may want more people around to socialise with - the bigger hotels would suit you more.

Rooms - I don't like air con much. These rooms are quite chilly for me (20-23 deg C). You can turn it off but I didn't find a happy balance of taking the edge off the humidity.

We had been to Rendezvous hotel before, even twice, 5 and 6 years ago. But it is such a good hotel that we had to return. From the moment you arrive till the day you leave, you feel like you are with your family. Every one is so friendly and helpful and in the end you don't want to leave. It's the best hotel I've been to in the Caribbean, it's a 5star hotel, with an excellent service. An all-inclusive adult only hotel. No screaming kids.
There are 3 restaurants, the terrace, where you have your breakfast, lunch and if you wish your dinner. Then there is the Thrysting Place, this is an indoor restaurant, and you will have to make a reservation. Closed on Sundays. And then you have the Malabar bar, where you can go for lunch and/or dinner. For dinner you also have to make a reservation, it is a small restaurant on the beach.
Food is excellent, a great choice every day
There are also 3 bars, one on the terrace, then the indoors Champagne Bar, where you can test daily several champagnes, and the smaller bar near the Malabar Restaurant (at the swimming pool).
The rooms (100) are spread, some are in the garden, then about 12 rooms near the bigger swimming pool, and the other rooms are on the beach, as well as some cottages.
Space enough, no one is siting on top of some one else, every one has a sun bed, no need to reserve your sun bed at 5 o'clock in the morning (like some do). Twice a day you get clean towels on your sun bed. Activities every day, from yoga and pilates and aquafit to tennis, or water skiing and scuba diving.
This is certainly one of the best hotels we've been to and we will certainly be back.
Thank you every one at Rendezvous, we miss you and will be back

This was our second location on this divine island. The thing we quickly gathered is that this is almost 100% a Brit Resort served by TUI and BA package holidays. Rooms vary widely in price helping the Resort cater for a wide range of budgets.

The grounds are superb. Do take all of them in especially the secret stream area. The beach is very spacious so you do not feel you are in a sun farm and relatively private given Castries is but a short walk away. The water sports were excellent. I sailed every day and they are very relaxed on how far you go if you know what you are doing, but equally happy to take you out and teach.

The room was a garden room and very well appointed. But, you do need to know that guests walk right by your front window so showers, etc needed the curtains drawn. In short low privacy. Yes you do need to know you are right under the flightpath of the 07.45 etc but this is not a heavy use Airport.

Food and drinks? The Beach Restuarant is 5* plus; great food served very fresh and for me perfect portion size. Menus change at least twice in a week. The most disappointing meal was in the air conditioned Trysting Place. Four rubbery mussels, very dry too; duck that was over cooked and too voluminous for its accompaniments. The main terrace restaurant is a mixed bag suffering from the fact that it has to produce a lot of meals over quite long time spans. But tea there is excellent with some lovely little eats to go with your Twinings!

The wines on the inclusive package were all South American 2018/19 and less good than those at the other resort we stayed at. I know people drink a lot when they are on package deals but a small upgrade here would be most welcome. We bought better wine once but it was $$$$. Some pleasant times in the Champagne Bar pre dinner; for me I would avoid the Prosecco and Cava nights for the real thing..... great pianist!

Service is just brilliant everywhere. Very well trained team. Water melon on the beach, rum punches as you want, cheerful gardeners and great restaurant teams. The bars can make almost anything. Very good staff indeed! Would go back but on the BA package saving quite a lot.

Our holiday began end of January. We were in Beachfront cottage, room 151 and so glad we upgraded. Only a few yards from the beach we would come back at night and sit on our veranda and listen to the crashing waves. As well as two sun loungers on our veranda, we were also given two more outside our cottage on the beach, so we didn’t have that issue of getting up early to reserve them!
Trysting restaurant though a bit old fashioned inside, served excellent food and Matilda always looked after us. Malabar great location on the beach and also excellent food. Lunchtimes in particular was good at Malabar, you may have to wait some days but not a problem as you can wait by the swim up pool bar and wait for them to come and get you. Terrace restaurant was our least favourite, Buffet in the evening very average as was the Ala Carte, though for lunch it was good as was the BBQ beach night. Breakfast was also excellent and Veronica could cook a mean omelette! The hotel automatically give you two reservations, one each for Trysting and Malabar. If you email them a couple of weeks before you can get them booked in early and then reserve more nights as you go along as you are there. Night entertainment was Okay though we didn’t stay every night opting to take a nightcap back to our room and relax at our cottage. Champagne Bar always seemed busy at 7.00/8.00 and less so later when you could listen to Gilbert on the piano. We had no issues with the nearby airport and though the beach is busier with ‘ locals’ at the weekend it wasn’t a major problem for us.
I do think a five star All Inclusive resort should offer complimentary refreshments in your mini bar, having to go to the bar should you want anything in your room was a pain. A couple of beers/soft drinks with snacks would of been nice instead of one bottle of water. Most people are from the UK and 80% over 50 years of age, which suited us but perhaps not all. A refreshing change from larger chains that there was no music by the pools ( swim up pool does need a bit of TLC however) and the dress code was adhered to at the restaurants.
Staff like so many people say are brilliant at their job, special thanks to Jojo who looked after us while we played backgammon in the terrace bar, Guildford who poured us very generous Cointreau to take back to our cottage, Geo who looked after us so well in the day on the beach, Sandra who cleaned our room so well each day and finally Tasha (Nice!) by the swim up bar.
All in all and enjoyable holiday and would recommend to anybody who wants a chilled an relaxing holiday.

We have recently returned from a week stay over New Years and would highly recommend this resort if you want to relax. The gardens are beautiful and all the common areas are kept immaculate. Food is good and varied and we always managed to get a table for lunch at the malabar which we preferred and we were able to get bookings for all restaurants for dinner, you do need to book couple of days in advance for malabar and trysting, so would recommend doing when you arrive. Rooms were comfy and very clean, always provided with fresh towels and extra toiletries and cleaned early morning. Staff around the main pool bar and beach area on this side were excellent and the highlight of the trip, you never needed to ask for a drink as they were there always checking on you... thank you all for making our stay and all your hard work. All staff were polite and friendly however the pool bar and main beach stood out for us as well as the reception team who were always friendly and helpful. They also acknowledged our anniversary and arranged a champagne breakfast and champagne in the room that evening. Communication prior to arrival was also excellent and would highly recommend the helicopter transfer to the hotel. Location wise there isn’t that much near the hotel which for us didn’t matter as we were all inclusive anyway and just wanted to chill and relax. The hotel is mainly of an older crowd so no late night parties, which suited us perfectly and no loud music round the pool during the day. If we return to st lucia we would not hesitate to stay here again.

We booked the hotel for our 40 th Wedding Anniversary and what a fabulous time we had at the Rendevous .
The ambience is one of total relaxation . There is plenty to do throughout the day organised by a wonderful animation team but they are not pushy and if all you want to do is lie in the sun then it’s fine by them ! Very good water sports as well .The service provision at both beach and pool areas are fantastic .. constant supply of iced water ,drinks ,fruit skewers and even the sand brushed off the bed whilst you are away at lunch . Special thanks to Nisha and Glen for looking after us so well. The staff really are the making of this hotel and cannot do enough to make your stay memorable and it never seemed forced .The hotel does not encourage individual tipping .
And so to the food ... I suggest you diet before arriving as your waistline will expand ! All 3 restaurants serving high quality food .On arrival the hotel will have made a reservation for you at both Malabar and Trystings. These can be changed and added to but advice is to do so on your first morning as they are very booked up.Also read the hotel itenary as you won’t want to be booked in a restaurant and miss the wonderful beach bbq night .This was also repeated one lunchtime and a brilliant school steel band must get a special mention. The Caribbean night was the only evening when I thought the food was slightly disappointing .There was entertainment every evening between 915 and 1045 , always music and of a good standard. Plenty of reggae !There is a Managers cocktail party every weds under the beautiful Sannam tree and the champagne bar is certainly very popular.Must give a mention to Veronika , the egg lady who can crack an egg one handed and cook 3 different types in one go and kept us all in line ! A truly wonderful person with a great sense of humour once you got to know her 😀
The gardens are a tropical delight and the garden tour is worthwhile learning about all the plants and at night it’s beautifully floodlit and the sounds of tree frogs .Needless to say mosquito repellent is a must in the evenings but they do sell in the shop .
We stayed in a premium garden view room which was adequate , a lovely comfy bed and a pillow menu !,It also had a good sized balcony unlike the beach front rooms. It was well designed with a separate unit for making tea, coffee so you weren’t always spilling on the dressing table as you do in so many hotels. There was an excellent turn down service at night. There are plenty of British plugs in the room so need for adaptors.
Finally a big thank you for making our anniversary so special .., a champagne breakfast and champagne in the room .
We have so many wonderful memories of this milestone and like many other guests I’m sure we will return in the future .

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this wonderful hotel, to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary, and we didn't think it could be any better, but it certainly was. from arriving to be greeted like old friends to the time we left was just wonderful. We had a veranda room this year with a partial seaview. The room was extremely comfortable & very well appointed with a huge bath & walk-in shower with plenty of toiletries. We ate in all three restaurants, the terrace. Malabar beach & the Trysting Place, all were excellent, if pushed for a favourite we would choose the Trysting place. As we were celebrating a special occasion we had a private dining experience, which included a champagne breakfast served in our room, and a delicious 4 course dinner served on a gazebo on the beach with our own personal waiter(Desmond) The food was exceptional & the ambience perfect. The staff at this hotel are wonderful & really make your stay a treat. Beach service is very good, as soon as you sit down drinks are offered & continue throughout the day, towels are refreshed & snacks & drinks are offered regularly. If you are celebrating something special we would strongly recommend this beautiful hotel. Previous reviews have mentioned being near to an airport, don't be put off is a small airport, only serving small planes & the odd helicopter. The hotel has beautiful lush tropical gardens, & even the gardeners are friendly & very knowlegeable.

We stayed here for our 10 year anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel felt intimate yet as a couple in our 30’s we felt we had enough to keep us busy. The restaurants offered great choice, we enjoyed the more formal dining experience in Trysting place to make a change from the more relaxed nights. LOVED bbq night on the beach, you felt you were experiencing the real Caribbean and got to meet some of the chefs. When we arrived we were greeted by a drink and cold towels which was just what we needed. I loved the map of the hotel, meant we could go to our room to relax before heading out in our own time to locate everything. We had a beach front room and although traditional the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was a brilliant size. We loved the hammock on the balcony, yes you need mozzy spray but worth it to enjoy the view! We enjoyed our days swapping between the quiet hiding around the lazy river, the busy of the pool bar and the relaxing on the beach front. In all places the staff got to know us and were very attentive yet you felt they weren’t hanging around. Only negative is we went to book for this year and the price had gone up by £2k, it’s starting to reach Maldives prices and as a amazing as the hotel is I don’t think it’s in the same league. We do plan to return one day though!!

We stayed at this hotel the beginning of December and I can honestly say it was one of the loviest places we've stayed. We had a garden room on the third floor (311) and it was absolutely perfect.. We looked out over the lazy River, beautiful gardens and the sea beyond, it couldn't have been better. The room was beautiful and immaculately cleaned twice daily.
The rest of the hotel was also beautiful and very peaceful, set in stunning lush gardens with plenty of hidden away quiet places. All three restaurants are fantastic with probably the best food we've ever had. The Trysting restaurant was our favourite, we loved the 'Charm' and ambience of this restaurant, along with the very attentive and lovely staff, thank you Sharrifa for looking after us so well.
All the staff are fantastic and can't do enough to ensure you enjoy your holiday, they really are a credit to this hotel. A special mention to Roger you really are a super star you looked after us so well.
Last but not least, the beautiful beach and setting of the hotel.. I must say I was slightly worried after reading reviews about the location of the hotel, but I needn't have been, we loved it, and enjoyed daily walks along the beach when we weren't out exploring the beautiful island. We highly recommend Jo Jos St Lucian Adventures, you will see Jo Jo on the beach each day by the Malabar restaurant, he is a super person, very reliable and professional, thank you so much for the amazing trips you arranged for us. Thank you again everyone at the Rendezvous for a fabulous holiday.

We married at Rendezvous 10 years ago and returned in January to celebrate our anniversary. Was it as good? No......it was better!
We arrived to bubbly in our room, had bubbly for anniversary breakfast, more bubbly brought to our room in the afternoon!
The hotel is definitely trying to compete with the other 5 star resorts. They have added the Malabar restaurant since we last came, which we enjoyed for lunches. Being early eaters (usually around 12), we always got a table. Think it gets busier the later you go. Food was good, the view is lovely. We did dine there in the evening, it was still nice but the main restaurant has a nicer outlook of an evening.
We had a anniversary dinner in Trysting Place. Fairly certain the decor hasn’t changed in 10 years! Service was lovely.
By far the best thing about Rendezvous is the staff. They work so hard to make sure you have a fabulous holiday and always do it with a smile. I have never stayed so topped up with drinks before. They don’t let you run out of wine or, perhaps more importantly, water!
We had a seaside room, which has been renovated since we were last there. It’s bright and modern, although the open bathroom affords little privacy from the outside world without closing the room curtains, which makes the room dark.
Food in the main restaurant was very good. The a la carte menu was good but we do feel the portion sizes are a little small. The buffet always had something we liked. BBQ night ruled!
The drinks service around the pool was excellent. Tash always remembered everyone’s name, which was impressive.
Love the fact they go round while you’re at lunch and take your old towels away and replace them with fresh dry towels.
Had afternoon tea once and that was fab.
Drinks all good quality.
Do think there should be somewhere you can grab easy snacks, ice creams etc during the day.
Champagne bar is a good idea. Tried a few sparkling wines/champagnes and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Had a couple of treatments which were wonderful, very relaxing.
Went to the sister hotel and ate at Tao. Food was fantastic and the service perfect.
We will certainly be back at Rendezvous again at some point.

Email the hotel - their concierge will reply. I can see the appeal of doing this, but weather may not give you the view or ride you hoped for. The bus transfer wasn't too bad. Consider booking a sightseeing trip instead - when you know the weather and they can give a precise time.

They appreciate that people look presentable in the Thyme restaurant, which is tekatively firmal. Usually it’s long slacks and collared shirts for men. The buffet is more laid back in the evenings, with tailored shorts. T-shirts and beach wear are not commonly seen in the evenings, in our experience.
