My husband and I stayed at Le Guanahani for 5 nights on our honeymoon. While we loved the island, I think we would try other resorts before returning to Le Guanahani. We love Rosewoods and have stayed at many throughout the world (some favorites being Mayakoba, San Miguel de Allende, London, and Villa Magna). However this one didn’t live up to the standard set by the rest. Rosewood sets themselves apart by the thoughtful personal touches. However when we arrived, they clearly had no idea who we were or that we were celebrating our honeymoon. While I don’t expect them to give us anything for free, I would have thought they would have said “congrats” or “thank you for celebrating with us”. Rather they thought we were someone else and left us a card in the room that said the wrong guests names and “happy dating anniversary”. Maybe I’m overthinking it but we had just returned from Belmond Cap Juluca in Anguilla (which I can’t recommend enough it was amazing!) and upon arrival everyone was so happy for us, wishing us congratulations, a room upgrade, and champagne. Again I don’t expect anything free (although I booked direct and the hotel wasn’t busy so it would have been easy…) but it felt impersonal to not even acknowledge it. Additionally, the room was small and while nicely decorated and with a large balcony, there were only two tiny chairs and a small table. Wouldn’t you at least put two chaises so folks can actually use it to relax? Finally, the concierge made a big blunder one night. They had made us a reservation at Petit Plage to celebrate my birthday but instead of making the reservation for the indoor area which turns into a disco, they made it for the outside patio. It was ok at first as we could turn and look inside and listen to the music, but shortly after sitting down the staff closed all the windows so we couldn’t hear the music or participate in the dancing at all! When we asked to move inside, the host said our hotel had messed up and they didn’t have any room for us. Incredibly disappointing and really put a damper on my birthday night. We ended up trying to go inside for a drink after dinner but there was no room so we ended up leaving shortly after. To make up for it the hotel gave us a glass of champagne at dinner the following night but nothing can really make up for a lackluster birthday evening on your very expensive honeymoon. But there were a few huge pros that I have to acknowledge—first, the beach bbq on the day of the World Cup final. The food was incredible and the chef and pastry chef preparing everything were awesome. That was a highlight for sure. Second, the spa!!! Holy cow the folks that work in the spa made our stay. They were so kind and thoughtful and gave my husband and I the best couples massage for my birthday. We ended up laying out at the spa pool one day instead of the beach because they were so kind and accommodating. In conclusion, there were pros and cons. I wanted to love it but unfortunately don’t think I’d return until I had at least tried other hotels on the island.…
We spent 8 fabulous days at this resort. We had an Ocean View suite. Our balcony/terrace was in top of the water. It was beautiful to wake up to this wonderful view and the sound of the ocean. We were in the far right of the resort, so quiet and calm. . I love having our turn down service every evening and the spacious and cool room to come back each night after dinner. We choose the airport transportation and since our flight was early , and they were there to welcome us in time! They welcomed us with a birthday cake and champs! The breakfast was wonderful every morning and the service by the pool very attentive. The gym was small but it had pretty much everything you need, no one was there early in the mornings. The SPA is small but it had great services, massages were very relaxing. We swam every day in the beach, and yes, some days the workers spent hours cleaning the seaweed but it will usually be cleared by 11-12pm. We saw 5-6 turtles everyday while snorkeling. We rented a car since I noticed a few reviews that it was hard to get transportation and specially because the regular road to Gustavia was closed. This hotel has the best swimmable beach in the island (for a resort) the price to pay is the distance from Gustavia. What it normally would take 10 mins to get there, it took us 25-30 mins. You do get used the driving around. I love having our turn down service every evening and the spacious and cool room to come back each night after dinner. If you have a chance, make reservations for Shell Beach, Eden Rock, Nikki Beach and you can usually rent beds in the first 2. The food was so good there as well. We took a private tour arranged by the concierge l to Colombier bearch, another pretty place. They were also helful with all the dinner reservations. Le sereno and Hotel Barthelemy had good spots for dinner. The only feedback is for the bar to work on their Frozen Drinks, they were pretty watery. Thank you to Mary, Max, and Martin the Hotel GM. We would definitely will come back here.…
if it is not the most beautiful it is definitely in the top three places on the island. The services were excellent and the location itself is amazing. the clean and simple design conveys a feeling of peace and serenity. It is definitely a place I will return to
The hotel is meticulously kept. Everything from the landscaping, to the room amnesties, staff, and breakfast. The room is spacious and can be a small distance to the main dining. Car parking is available for renters. Including EV charge stations. Every morning you see a small truck "cleaning" the beach from all the seaweed that collects there. Even though it's a beautiful beach we barely swam there. In fact we barely saw anyone swim. The sea was just too rough. The winds were constant and strong. It's perfect for kitesurfing but not for a calming swim experience. The location of the hotel is away from most other places worth visiting on the island. Taxis are not easily available. One taxi ride can cost a full day of renting a car. You can rent a car from the hotel or choose to rent from the airport (cheaper options there plus you wouldn't need to pay for an airport transfer when leaving). We found out later our side of hotel rooms are inhabited by local frogs that literally screamed all night long. This happened every night. It took some getting used to. Rooms on the other side of the hotel did not have this problem. It might be worth brining ear plugs to help you sleep if you're not used to this.…
This elegant resort was completely rebuilt after 2017 Hurricane Irma and it shows. Everything is fresh and new with great care for interior design and amenities. The Staff at every level shines, from Reception to housekeeping, the Sense Spa, the Bar, dining, and the beach team all served up with French charm and warmth to make your time there so special. The Concierge team is superb, the management cares to make your stay memorable. the Sense Spa and various treatments were some of the best we have experienced in our travels.
We love the Rosewood brand and any chance we get to stay at one where we’re traveling, we take it. When planning for our anniversary trip this year, I actually pulled up the Rosewood website to see what new hotels they had opened and was really excited to see the new property in St. Barths and booked it immediately. Like all of our Rosewood stays, they did not disappoint. The staff is incredible from the minute we stepped foot outside the airport. Alex was waiting with the car and had water and cold towels to welcome us. He was really knowledgeable about the island and answered all of our questions. The reception staff got us checked in quickly and they had the option to start the checkin process ahead of arrival making things even more smooth by the time we arrived. We didn’t expect our room to be ready (a one bedroom ocean view suite) since we arrived at 11am but it was and we were able to settle in quickly. The room was GORGEOUS! Rosewood took over the old Guanahani resort after the hurricane hit a few years back and messed up many places around the island. They did an excellent job with the renovations and the spaces are stunning. Our view was incredible, the room was huge, and we loved the porch area with a table, chairs, and loungers. The beach staff was really great. Always nice to order a cocktail and sip it while listening to the waves. Due to climate change, the island (and larger area of surrounding islands) is experiencing higher volumes of seaweed. The hotel left a note to apologize and they have to work with the local government for removal. Definitely not their fault at all and towards the end of our stay, they had done quite a bit of clean up of the beach area, but even still - the water was gorgeous. They had complimentary clear boats you could take out, snorkels, SUPs, and more. The Beach House food was really good. We ate breakfast every morning at their great buffet and the staff (especially Paul!) was wonderful. We also had lunch and snacks and dinner there a few times and it was delicious every visit. The spa staff was welcoming and friendly and the facilities were gorgeous to relax before or after your treatment. Definitely book a treatment while you’re there. I should have said that the staff was great before we even arrived because they helped us get all set up with airport transport, car rental, and restaurant reservations. It was so nice to have their help making plans! They even had a note and snacks/champagne in our room on arrival to welcome us back to a Rosewood. They put a special dessert with a note from the staff on our anniversary. It’s the little touches that they do so well and are really meaningful. The resort is on the quieter part of the island. We really liked this but you would need to travel into town to be “in the thick of it” if that’s your thing. If you want a calm, beautiful, welcome experience, you won’t be disappointed in the Rosewood La Guanahani. We can’t wait for our next Rosewood adventure.…
Rosewood resort was incredible. The staff went above and beyond to make our vacation perfect. I would highly recommend this resort for people who are looking for a 5 star resort with luxurious accommodations. Everything was perfect.
Beautifully refurbished property. All staff were just wonderful and willing to accommodate and anticipate our every need. Our junior suite was perfectly situated near the beach, yet very private. We loved it! The food and restaurants were also excellent. We each had a treatment at Sense spa, and the treatments were excellent and the spa a very special place.
Just wrapped up 5 days at the Rosewood for a tenth wedding anniversary trip. Among the things that stood out: (1) impeccable facilities. Everything is very modern and clean; (2) beautiful location. There aren't many places where the pool and a beach of this caliber are so close; (3) bar and food. The breakfast, lunch, and drinks were great. We only had dinner at the resort one night because we wanted to head into town; (4) service. Everyone we encountered was great from check in to check out. Only thing to keep in mind is that you will need to rent a car on the island if you want to travel into town. The roads take a little getting used to but once you've done it once or twice, it's easy.
The property is stunning and the service is impeccable! We went for our honeymoon and stayed in the Ocean Bay Pool Room, which is definitely the best value for your money. Stay in room 52…you won’t regret it. We will definitely be back and congrats to Rosewood on another successful hotel!
