Mary and Hector's property is Vieques' best kept secret! Amazing access to the ocean and quick drive to Esperanza-- you really feel like you're on the edge of the world there. We had such a pleasant stay, we wished we'd booked more than one night. As if the amazing ocean view and tranquil landscape weren't enough, the nice A/C, large beds, and blackout shutters made for the best night of sleep we had on Vieques. Mary was so responsive and helpful as we made our arrangements and during our stay; but she went way above and beyond by shipping expensive headphones I'd accidentally left behind! They are lovely hosts-- you can tell they genuinely enjoy sharing their chunk of paradise with guests. It touched us that Mary took interest in our story and our children-- wished we'd been able to spend more time with her and Hector. Can't wait to go back!…
Hector's is located on the south side of the island, near Esperanza. The south side is where my favorite beaches are. Esperanza is where the best restaurants and bars are. Hector's property is beautiful. The breeze and ocean views are amazing and relaxing. The beds and linens are great. The bathroom is very nice. The kitchenette has everything you need to reheat or make a simple meal (regrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and plates, cutlery and cups). The pool is wonderful. I love taking a dip after coming back from the beach. They also have beach chairs, towels and coolers for their guests to use. It's great not to have to bring your own. I would definitely go back.
Went there for the end of the high season salsa party. Excellent DJ playing good salsa music. Food truck with tacos, including fish. Beautiful venue with excellent bartender. But the key was the view, which will always be there. Would definitely revisit.
Hector’s never disappoints. The property is fully recovered from the hurricane and the views are spectacular. We have been traveling to Vieques since 2006 and staying at Hector’s. We travel extensively in the Caribbean and this is our favorite locale. The amenities offered such as beach chairs, cooler, and beach towels will make your days on the beaches much more pleasant. Unlike the USVI and BVI, which we travelled to in February, the beaches on Vieques still have palm trees, vegetation, and shade. Most restaurants, Esperanza’s Malecon, and much of Isabelle’s infrastructure are also refreshed after the hurricanes. Thanks to Mary and Hector for another memorable visit.
Hector’s by the Sea is a gorgeous location with comfortable accommodations. After staying a night in Isabella with loud roosters waking us at 4am, it was great to retreat to the quiet location at Hector’s. Mary and Hector were welcoming and assisted us with minor requests. My family of 4 stayed at the Coqui. I loved hanging out in the hammock and soaking up the sunset. There’s a lovely view of Vieques’s turquoise waters. My kids played in the pool. The warm breezes made the temperature pleasant during our March stay. We slept great with the windows open. Having a fridge and microwave was perfect for storing and heating up food for our family. Driving to and from town is a bumpy road, but that was fine for our rental jeep. I’ll be dreaming of Hector’s by the Sea!
